Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a sinner
@chrispoloynis1693 🙏
Many thanks for this mid-stream overview, tracing the essential thread of the Tradition, situating us for what is to come and attuning us to the key considerations, namely, the foundational distinctions between created and uncreated and between ratio and nous. Invaluable.
You are most welcome @RaphaelFoshay 🙏
@@TheMTPAcademy Properly speaking, I think I suppose should have said dianoia (not ratio) and nous.
Yes @RaphaelFoshay, dianoia is a richer concept even in philosophy. But note that it is sometimes used synonymously with nous in the theology of the Fathers.
@@TheMTPAcademy Thank you for that alert, Professor Veniamin. It will have caused initial confusion.
Pleasure, @RaphaelFoshay.

Sincere thanks, Professor Veniamin. As a cradle Anglican I was formed by Cranmerian English and the KJV and it is a great grief to see what the Anglicans have done with that heritage. However, since becoming an Orthodox convert in 1987, it is long since an issue for me. A question: Can you recommend an English translation of the Liturgy of St Basil. I would be happy to be mistaken, but the OUP edition you mention seems no longer in print. I would be looking for a priest's edition. Thank you, Hieromonk Raphael.
Yes indeed, Fr. Raphael, I understand. Frankly, I am not aware of a better translation than that of the Monastery. But as you say, it is now out of print, which is a great source of grief to me personally. In our own small way, I am hoping to promote a greater sensitivity to all things ecclesiastical, particularly pertaining to the spiritual life of the Church.
Serving altar with Saint Sophrony as the celebrant must have been life-changing! "Peace is none other than Jesus Christ Himself whom we have received in the Liturgy." Beautiful! Wishing you a blessed eve of Pentecost. "O Heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art everywhere present and fillest all things, the Treasury of good things and the Giver of life, Come and abide in us and cleanse us from every stain and save our souls O Good One."
Amen. Amen. Amen. Wishing you a blessed Holy Pentecost 🙏

Atheism is a wonderful thing, The more they try to convince you that God does not exist, the more you know He must, else, why would it be so important, that they spend their lives, speaking about something that does not exist? surely then if Gods non existence was true, they would have better things to do with their lives?

25:45 I find this image striking. It looks like an original painting, but I wonder if it's available as an icon the laity can have in their prayer corners. If so, what is the name? Also, what does it say on the book Christ is holding?

That’s an icon of Christ, I AM, painted by St. Sophrony himself. You may order it from the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in England. The inscription on the book Christ is holding reads, I AM.
Does “god” have a radio and if “he” listens will he answer prayers if it ignores pleas to end star in the third world.
You might be right 😊

Thank you @Athanasius1975 for taking the time to express your support for our humble efforts to make this cycle of instruction available to the wider community. 🙏
My step father just died , he was a pastor, no he wasn't orthodox like myself , but I saw his love for God in the ministry. I'm saddened by his untimely death, but my tears are cause I miss him cause it was so sudden , but I know with God's mercy he can be in paradise. Do these tears mean I'm someway selfish , in wishing he was here instead of with the Lord? And I also cry for my mother, who is now a widow and that pains me too. Although she will be cared for very well
Dear Athanasius (@Athanasius1975). First of all, my deepest condolences for the repose of your step father: God rest his soul, and grant you and your mother many blessed years, to honour his memory. In response to your question, I would simply say that death and our physical separation from our loved ones is unnatural; and that it is normal therefore to grieve the loss of those most near to us especially. Our sorrow, however, should not be excessive, since we continue to pray for the dead and continue therefore in communion with them, and moreover we live in expectation of the General Resurrection on the Last Day. Wishing you a blessed and joyous Pascha! Dr. Christopher Veniamin
@TheMTPAcademy Glory to Jesus Christ I'm all things , thank you so much for your excellent response . I'm am in total agreement with you. I'll try to remember this throughout the week as we have not yet had his funeral services
