Hiking in Japan: 藻岩山 Mount Moiwa in Sapporo *winter*
When you visit Sapporo, 藻岩山 Mount Moiwa is a must do. You can either hike up to the top, shown here in this video, or take the ropeway up.
The hike is fairly easy and should take between 60-90 minutes, depending on your level of fitness.
At the top you can enjoy a stunning 360° view over Sapporo.

I'm japaneseman I live kochi in shikoku myhouse is near29temple,国分寺 I may havemet you before cause,I'm walking everyday aroundhere I talk to pilgrimage from oversea for study english! how was kochi? anyway to38from37,veryverylong road about80km you are greatest!

    why do they scrutinize the sleeping portion and not the walking portion when it comes to tents? "Sleeping for Free" while there is no charge to walk? While accommodations are scarce , few and far between? Is there a curfew to be at a certain paid lodging by a specific time? Did you encounter wasps, mosquitoes , Bengal tigers and Bears etc. along the way. How heavy was your backpack? What would you not carry if you were to do this again? What did you regret no carrying?

    How many pairs of shoes did you bring?

      I started with a pair of trail running shoes but dumped them after a couple of days and bought a pair of jogging shoes, which lasted the entire trail, Roughly 1000 km.

      If you have proper hiking boots, no extra device like crampons are necessary

    First off, congratulations on completing this! Thank you for the informative video. I plan to do this next month. Based on your experience, would nightly lodging be hard to find (I don’t plan on bringing camping gear)? Thank you!!

      Thank you ! I think it should be easy to find nightly lodging. In November aren't that many henro on the trail. But i don't know how many guesthouses have closed due to corona. For more up to date information look up the Ohenro San facebook group.

      It depends what you want to see. I did it in October and November to see the autumn colours. In spring you can experience the cherry blossom. Every season has its benefits and disadvantages.

      @@SC-rh9pj Yes. I bought them after temple 13 when i was passing through Tokushima. I walked roughly 1200 km with them and i had no issues.

      the official one, Shikoku Japan 88 Route Guide, which you can buy at the first temple. it has all the maps and routes. Also useful phrases and phone number of accomodations. The guide book comes in several languages and the english version is highly recommended.

    Hi, I'm just curious what date you started exactly. Loving all the red leaves along the way! I walked it in spring, so I had cherry blossoms for most of it. I started on the 1st of April and finished 55 days later. A bit slow!

    2015, 2016, 2017. Was there for three Shikoku walking trips. Really not so much for faiths, but more on the local kindness. Shikoku and Shodoshima, forever my walking destination.

      I started with a quilt but switched halfway through the pilgrimage to a warmer sleeping bag.
