Red Dead Redemption 2 - Name Slate After Effects Test

Inspired by the 'My Name is John Marston' trailer, for potential use in a future project. That's really cool! This is a neat coincidence, I'm working on a fanmade trailer for RDR1 right now and I want to learn this same exact effect using After Effects, the same one from the JM trailer. Do you know any good, specific AE tutorials that will point me in the right direction to make something like this? Liked and subbed :)
Funnily enough, I'm going to make a fan tailer for rdr2 when/if it comes to PC! Also must say that the trailers you made for RDR and GTAV are fantastic! Anyway - it depends how much you know about AE. This project took me about an hour from scratch. I duplicated the video and masked out the background and Arthur on separate layers. I then adjusted the colours on each accordingly. Swapping the midtones for a dark red and crushing the blacks gave me the sort of effect I was after. I also made a Photoshop file consisting of two layers for the brush strokes you can see on the video. This file was then imported to my AE project in between Arthur and the background, giving it some depth. I just masked them in with a slight feather. Hope that helps! :) There's probably easier ways to do it, but I'm not that experienced with After Effects myself. This was filmed a few weeks after the game came out on PC when there were barely any mods out there because it was still being cracked. And given how trigger happy Rockstar was when it came to banning people, I didn't really want to risk it - even if there were mods out there.
