I did that revive quest last still HAD lv 40+ party members and Ayla still NEVER left my party so use Frog LUCCA Ayla at this point NEVER fight MAGUS here IMMEDIATELY put him INTO the party.

What's your preferred party overall? Personally on the first playthrough of a new save I always go with Crono, Marle and Robo. They might not have the greatest damage output but that lifeline triple tech is an absolute (and literal) life saver. In new game + I tend to branch out and will usually kick Marle out in favour of Frog and then rotate the third party member as needed.

Not them Crono Frog Ayla by the time I entered the Black Omen I had Slurp Kiss restore 999 HP to the entire party making Marle/Robo both worthless for even HEALING. Life Line isn't really needed if you never die in in the first place so its only useful in like a NEVER level up game IE fighting Lavos at LVS below 20 when nearly ALL of its attacks will kill the entire party instantly EVERY turn.
