A collaboration composition with my good friend @icrawfish2929, which we made for Superfamicompo 6's originals category, where it won 1st place.
It's a Touhou-style song, using only samples from Super Mario World. Maybe it's an Extra stage boss theme or something of the sort.

Still one of my favourite Past songs from Sonic CD, and one I could (and have) vibed to for hours at a time. Compared to the version from 4 years ago, I went for instrumentation that feels more like the original's. I'm fond of how SMW's marimba can act as a substitute for a cowbell. Super happy with how SMW instruments fit this song, in ways that they were probably never meant to be used haha. It was fun comparing the old and new TCL soundtracks and taking cues from both to make this (though bless the new one's cleaner mixing for making transcribing this easier!) A thrilling song for a thrilling rush through a cave… if your computer isn't a toaster that runs the game at 40 FPS. 😔 Nonetheless, IBP's soundtrack is full of absolutely energetic bangers, and this is one of them.
