What Amanda Cox Regrets in Her Writing (Episode 126)
On this episode of “The Romantic Side of Suspense,” I’m chatting with Amanda Cox, the Christy Award-winning author of The Edge of Belonging, The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocery, and He Should Have Told the Bees. “There’s only character I sort of regret killing off,” Amanda said. “But it had to happen for the story. I just loved this character so much and I enjoyed writing the character in The Secret Keepers of Old Depot Grocer and he has a tragic ending to his story.”

    Modestly is the word of God and that’s how it should be taught. Not what we think. Modesty is definitely about what we wear and the condition of the heart; however, internalizing it Gods way is what makes it easier to do. Serving God is a daily sacrifice as believers and we should be striving to do things as he has instructed us. You have to start teaching this when kids are very young and it should be wrapped in the love and safety Jesus has and wants for us. I agree we should be kind and not jump to conclusions regarding peoples dress but it’s clear that if you say you are a believer and you’re displaying your thighs hips and breast, you’re either being deceived or flat out disobedience, either way you’re in trouble with God. Reading Gods word will get you where you need to be in your heart and mind. When you love him you want to please him. Boys should wear a shirt at the pool, especially men. We need to have more conversations like this.

    Modesty in women is a way to communicate self-respect and dignity. Dressing modestly can communicate to our spouses that there are some parts of our body that are reserved only for their eyes. If a woman is single, it can communicate that she is saving what is intimate for her future husband if she chooses to marry. Modesty is deep and beautiful.

    • @kennethfok
      @kennethfok 2 года назад

      Very well said. Modesty is beautiful. There are many men who prefer dating women who dress modestly and many husbands who prefer the beauty of their wife’s body to be kept solely for their viewing pleasure and enjoyment. The modesty of a woman belongs to God who created them and through the marriage union, God entrusts the body of a woman to her husband for him to enjoy and preserve. A man has a duty to love his wife and protect her and in submission, the woman gives of herself to her husband knowing that her body is being taken care of and being loved by him. Even when she submits to him for something such has sexual intercourse, she knows that her husband has those sexual desires and she gladly satisfies it out of love.

    • @thewriter2634
      @thewriter2634 2 года назад

      *There are two types of modesty: Spiritual and physical* *The Spiritual aspect is true 1000% and is made perfectly clear all throughout the Bible. It shows in the way we act and treat one another. It's what we carry in our hearts and minds and spirits. This is what God cares about and what we should be striving towards.* *Physical modesty is a lie. It's nothing but a man made ideology designed to manipulate and control one another due to our lust for power. It's based on ignorance and our lack of understanding of what our bodies truly represent. This has no basis in the Bible or science.* *And that type of view is so dangerous because it puts sexual assualt victims at risk of being victim blamed. If a certain type of clothing "communicates" you don't consent to anything intimate then you're saying another kind of clothing "communicates" you do consent. So if that's the case, the sexual predators can't be held responsible for assaulting someone who's wearing certain attire because that, supposedly, is a sign of consent. People like you don't stop to think about this when you talk and that's why so many skeptics accuse the Bible and Bible followers of supporting rape.*

    • @thewriter2634
      @thewriter2634 2 года назад

      @@kennethfok *The main problem with us as people regarding physical modesty is that we view our bodies (nudity) as being inherently sexual. This is a false premise for the following reasons...* *Bathing, changing clothes, childbirth, breastfeeding, using the bathroom, sleeping, going to a sauna, getting a massage (at a spa), nurturing the elderly, nurturing the handicap ♿, locker rooms (for athletes).* *All of these things require (or can involve) nudity but have nothing to do with anything sexual. Why? Because nudity isn't inherently sexual, it's only looked at like that because we make it sexual. So we can't assume that someone showing skin (not necessarily completely nude) is "sexualising" themselves so we can't say that you can "cause someone to lust" by not dressing "modestly".*

God created us to be fully naked with NO SHAME and it was only when we started seeing the world through our eyes rather than through God's eyes that we started viewing our bodies as disgraceful. 99% of clothing has nothing to do with trying to be sexy, it's just the person wearing what makes them comfortable. That was before we were born into sin. After Adam and Eve sinned, everything changed. We cannot live like Adam and Eve did before sin came into the world because we are all sinners. After Adam and Eve sinned, they were aware of their nakedness and clothed themselves, as we are to do.

    • @thewriter2634
      @thewriter2634 2 года назад

      @@rebeccadore5578 *Nowhere in the Bible does it say that our bodies cause others to sin, that's a misinterpretation. The Bible is clear that our bodies are made in God's image and, because of that, we're the crown jewel of His creation. That's why there was no shame in nudity but we've lost sight of that but that doesn't mean that truth changes. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday and today and tomorrow so if He thought our bodies were shameless yesterday, He still believes this today. Yes we have to cover certain areas of our bodies when we're in public because we'll get arrested for indecent exposure if we don't but clothing isn't God's creation nor was it ever intended by Him so it's not a priority of His. 1 Samuel 16:7 says WE LOOK AT PHYSICAL APPEARANCE WHILE GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART ❤ and that couldn't be any more true. David, Esther, Isaiah and Adam and Eve (before the fall) were all elevated when they embraced their natural beauty (bodies) so our bodies are not shameful "stumbling blocks", they're glorious elevation tools.*

    I think it is not easy for a westerner like you to get the perspective of an Asian family, let alone a rich / elite one. Asians are the silent minority in America and yet they are top in a lot of areas especially median family income and education. There is a reason Asian parents beat their children, it is because they are setting them up to the tough world out there. While individuals should not be deprived of freedom, they can enjoy that all the more when they are successful in life.

    You’re wrong! Asians Parenting is still the best way to discipline a Child! Western style of parenting is inferior to Asian style and you have to admit it!
