With air cooled engines you will get better cooling at low altitude and higher RH because of the density of the air. You also get good cooling over the fins from the high airspeed which also helps cool the engine. As someone who's toasted a jug or two flying old crop dusters, if you just kept the nose high and kept climbing at WOT with a high nose you hold on to alot more heat, and slamming the throttle shut and descending rapidly can shock cool the cylinders. AFAIK shock cooling is not modeled in the 310 or JF arrow, but cooling air intake occlusion, and atmospheric effects are modeled. Tl;dr at sea level with good airspeed you realistically can run most aviation engines WOT for hours and hours and hours before they fail. I fly towplanes and they spend probably 60% of their working hours climbing at WOT then chopping and dropping and we can get engines to 2 or 3000h past TBO while still passing inspections and scopes.

The duke is known for breaking the bank when it comes to maintenance anyways. You probably don’t want it. Beautiful bird nonetheless

So after uninstalling and reinstalling the sim I was happy to find that it didn't lose my hours in the sim or any other stats. Probably not going to matter when 2024 comes out. Oh well.

Finally fixed my issues with the add-ons. Yay!

During this video I mention that I'm going to uninstall and reinstall the sim on my Xbox in an attempt to fix my issues and I'm happy to report that it seems like it worked. Cleared all the clocks on my planes though. Oh well, at least I can fly them again.

So I failed to fail, which makes me either the biggest failure of all time or something else entirely.

Pretty cool plane that I haven't spent a whole lot of time in but I like AND it isn't malfunctioning like the rest of my favorite planes.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I looked up what it would be like to drive this same journey and by my calculations, driving an SUV between these 2 airports would save you 1 or 2 gallons of gas but take you about 3 1/2 hours longer. 😊

Just as an added bit of info, VOR stands for Very high frequency Omnidirectional Range because the transmitter gives you your direction and range/distance away. Kinda forgot to mention that in part 1.

We're back to finish the flight home with my new imaginary airplane. We'll finally get into the GTN 750 and talk about approaches. And of course, I'll get a bit messed up in the descent plus, my frame rate gets messed up which turns out to be a self-inflicted issue. Figures.

Well, I made a lot if mistakes in this one. Evey flight and video is a learning experience I suppose.

So I realized I misspoke. The V35B does have rudder trim. The control for it disappeared with the yoke. I'm sure that's not the only thing I got wrong. Enjoy my amateur flying.

Couldn't resist grabbing the Duke when I saw it was available on the Xbox. In my excitement, I failed to mention that it comes in a turboprop version as well (for some extra $$) but I'm all about the piston planes so it wasn't worth the additional cash to me.

Much higher ratio of flying to checklists in this one. And I forgot to demonstrate how you turn on the failures and damage modeling in the COWS DA42. You go to the very realistic Engine Page on the G1000 and then hit the Menu button to the right and it will bring up a non-realistic panel of options to toggle between a magic plane and a breakable plane. Enjoy.
