The first scene quality is a bit scratchy but the sound of that scene and the remaining video is fine. There are two scenes, one in Shoshone, ID and Huntington, where 3985 starts from a dead stop. The double chuffs are really nice to listen to as the engine pulls the 15 passenger car concist. Enjoy.

I took this video when we visited the Seattle World Fair in 1986. As I rode the train, I took VHS videos of family and the train in separate cassettes. I had the train tape professionally converted to digital. So there’s no loss in the video quality. I deleted half of the video to what is on this RUclips video. This video concentrates on close up driver action. The driver mechanisms, in slow motion, are probably my favorite part of viewing a moving steam locomotive. Unfortunately, the Central Pacific Jupiter was down for maintenance the day I visited Promontory.

This was taken on an cruise to Alaska. I booked the White Pass tour but I was not expecting the Mikado. The steam powered train arrived, from a tour run, at the same time we arrived at the station area for our diesel powered tour. All I could do is video the Mikado arriving, unloading the passengers, and backing up to the shops.

I completed the initial "empire" in 2020 and uploaded my first video in March, 2021. Since then, I've added a 35 foot (~ 1/4 scale mile) elevated siding flanked with #8 turnouts. One of those T/Os changed the angle of a 90 degree turn. The re-routed turn created a longer "S" turn. That was realized half way through the addition and totally unplanned. After a trip to Train Mtn and with prior arrangements, I visited the Medford Rail Park on Saturday. They are open to the public on two Sundays per month. Since it was a Saturday, their massive water features weren't running...except one that had fish.

This was shot on April 19, 2020. I had barely finished my initial track laying. I decided to upload this entire unedited scene after two years. (I suppose I no longer cringe at the thought of this.) I spent one day at Train Mountain. I should have spend many more days there. One can't see everything in one day; especially at a triennial. The close up scenes of the two U.P Pacific and Northern class engines, in the pit, were never seen in motion. This was my first trip to Train Mountain. I thought about taking a tripod but decided against it...a mistake.

As of this upload date, I couldn't find one YT video on the G scale RR at Train Mountain. In fact, I didn't know there was such a thing at TM. It does pail in comparison to the better known 7.5-inch. If this layout were privately owned, it would still be large. Hope you enjoy.

This is a surprisingly sophisticated G scale layout that is suspended from the ceiling of, "The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse. Two different train consists run simultaneously. Train themes match the various seasons too. If you are anywhere near Sumner, WA, this is a must see! (If all else fails, one can satisfy a fudge craving as there is a, "Fudge Factory" in the store.)

This video was taken on Aug 12, 2018. The RR is a victum of Covid-19. It was shut down in May of 2020, according to their web, and has not reopened as of this upload date on October 31, 2021. The Dockside engine, featured in this video, has the most pleasing chuffs of any engine I've ever heard, including the SP #4449 & UP's #844 & #4014 engines...though NW #611 comes close in my opinion.
