Model Airplane Engine Running RITM 2.46
a 1962 design by Famous Designer Boris Kratoutski , the production engine of the RITM 2.46 was built in Kiev, ending just before 1980. ( Thanks to Adrian Duncan) My example i got New In Box .... It has poor compression fits, so much to my surprise it started rather easily. Some more runs will be done in 2025....

The POLET 5.6 cc model airplane glow engine was Soviet made in Kiev 1965- ~ 1979. My sample i obtained years ago new in the box, un run. Today , the POLET was given two break in runs using a tope flite super M maple 10 3 1/2 prop to keep the working load light, and RC Car fuel 20 percent nitro but with 30 percent BENOL oil added in addition to the existing oil. The POLET , using the supplied so...

PAW .60 Diesel engine running model airplane engine
Просмотров 6262 месяца назад
The PAW 60 was acquired recently, freed up , and decided to give it some break in runs. Initially, the piston was too tight at top dead center, but some running is eliminating that and the engine is really starting up very nicely. Sorry for the short video, but the engine really uses the fuel compared to my small diesels :) And, i'm giving fairly short runs still using a 14-6 heavy master airsc...

Based on the original 1940s Gotham Hobby DEEZIL, the CS version is a good running model engine, unlike most originals which very few were capable of running due to poor design changes and poor tolerancing. My CS DEEZIL .125 cubic inch engine is turning a 10-6 master airscrew prop using my test fuel of ~ 33 percent harley 60 wt motor oil , remainder ether... As the engine warmed up, the compress...

Thank you for posting this! I have 3 Drone engines that I hope to get running some time soon. Are you using something like John Deere starting fluid as your source of Ether? What size prop is this spinning?😊
@@gregnorton2036 youre welcome. Yes, jd starting fluid. An old top flite 13- 4 i think is what i used for the test run
Share the fuel recipe with me🙂
35 % benol, remainder starting fluid....
You're taking a chance if you stick your face in that propeller just the same as if you stuck it in a fan! W.O.W.
Good reason not to do that LOL
Wow, what a lovely runner, thank you very much for sharing
Thank you, Mark....
Why not use fuel with 3 equal parts kerosene/castor/ether?
Because i no longer like the smell of fuel oil / kero.... the two part fuel runs well enough for me, and is easy to clean up. I'm sure for better performance, three part fuel is better though....
Obviously a newer version, sounds real healthy!
Yes, the CS built version, mid to late 1990s....
Well done Jeff! Now you just need a few nice old propellers for easy flicking.
@briancox3691 yes! Friendly wood will be much better :)
Not many people that could make that save!
Wasn't me, but yes ! A GREAT SAVE !
Where did you buy it
'Promo SM' 💪
Nice looking tractor
Love them small towns!
how far can it go before losing signal?
Hi - i really dont know but i have had no range issues with two models using the same electronics....
@@jeffmac2529 ok thanks for the reply 👍
Can’t beat that sound 👍🏻
Seems like the algorithm needs to take a sick day
It was upgraded in engine (formerly the ex- police motorcycle engine contributed by Milt Hatfield), without the tips on of the original (which were meant both in concert to tip down to help compress air under the wings for STOL) and with straight simple Hoffman type trailing edge controls.
Cool update , would love to see an ARUP in person....
Cool m8 ✌️✌️✌️✌️
I guess some of them did run indeed ! Well done.
Thank you Sir.... would be fun to build the GHQ Sportster gas model and give this a flying attempt....
Loved the sound of that engine. I never knew that maytag made engines, or was that a different company by the same name?
Hi Thomas.... Yes, Maytag Newton Iowa built these....
Very Cool.
I still have my Thermic 50 RC, but the radio was a single channel Galloping Ghost setup. Rudder would flap equally left and right to fly straight, and you know the rest. The kit had a pod on the wing and mounted a Cox .010 engine on it. ots of fun back then. I still have it all but have not flown it in years.
Thanks for the story 818, thats kool. I had the Thermic 50 towliner but did not really have successful flights. Still have that plan though....
which glow plug is it? I have the same engine, but the glow plug is worn out. Which glow plug should I buy? Thank you
Sir, i would think a short or long medium heat range plug would work fine. Just compare length to the original one. I do not know if the threads are metric or s.a.e.
@@jeffmac2529 thank you so much!
One more thing what direction do you run this motor in clockwise are counter clockwise? what size glow plug does it take.
Hi Marshal.... the Rogers normally runs LH CCW. The plug thread is. 1/4-32 .....
hey that motor actaully uses a special throttle valve in the exhaust, i didnt think it would run without it lol, do you happen to know the stock nettle settings on one of these btw? im having isses getting mine running
hi Jakob... The throttle was optional i think, In any case, start by turning in the needle gently until it stops, then turn out 3.5 turns. That should give a close start position if the spraybar is aligned and jets clear to pull fuel......
@@jeffmac2529 I have 1 just like haven't tried to start it but it does have compression.. how do I start this engine I have thanks
@@aaronbrown4340 get a good glow plug, test with 1.5 volts to get an orange glow. Install glow plug. Mount engine on a stand or bolted to a hatdwood or ply mount. Secure the mount. Gently turn needle valve in ( clockwise) until it stops, then turn it out 3 to 4 turns. Prime engine in exhaust with a few fuel drops ( at leadt 20 percent oil, castor should be added ) nitro - 5 percent but not critical. Snap flywherl a few times, hook up 1.5 volt battery to plug, snap again. Wl start and run the prime. After that, have a 1 to 2 ounce or so fuel fueled, hook up fuel line. Follow above starting process. Repet until its running,Adjust needle as needed. Be sure to not tun it very long without water cooling,.... have fun....
HI I have a Rodgers rmc 2 also I am wondering if you could show me a link to were I can can buy and ignition coil I can't find find one anywhere.
Hi Marshall... Larry Davidson in the USA has them.. Google his name or check SAM USA website....
@@jeffmac2529 Thank you so much.
Which propeller did you use?
Hi Michele - i used the plastic russian propeller supplied with the engine.... Being careful not to be in line with the prop if a failure happened..... jeffMac
@@jeffmac2529 Hi Jeff, the propeller is 8x4 or 8x6? thank you.
@@michelemarchese259 It is the prop supplied from the russian factory... it does appear to be ~ 8-4 or 6.......
@@jeffmac2529 Ok Jeff, well. But do you also use nitromethane in the mixture?Thank you.
@@michelemarchese259 Only a 5% nitro 20% castor oil 75% methanol glow fuel...
I just acquired one of these engines and was wondering how to pull it apart for cleaning?
Hi Joshua..... I would not dismantle the engine.... It has no ball bearings, so an acetone bath , dry out, and re-oiling with automatic transmission fluid ( for storage ) is what i do with these type of engines.....
@@jeffmac2529 JeffMac ah, thank you for letting me know. I was waiting on doing anything to it till I knew what to do as I have no experience running or caring for these motors. I'll follow your directions as I intend to store it for a while.
Awesome! How does it feel to you flying? Thanks!
That's awesome! Any chance you could share the plans?
saito125 the plan is on outerzone and the n my rcgroups build log. I do not have my redrawn structure published though..
What size prop is that? (I know this is an old vid)
Hi Nick - if i remember it was a 10-6 top flite maple prop......
Beautiful ! So slow and realistic. :)
Omg it's first time when i see Tono engine running. How powerful it is?
Well I don't have a tacho but it seems to turn an 11-4 prop well enough :) it started by hand and throttled quite well....
it is looking pretty good. They don't really turn high RPMs though. As long as it gets lots of oil, it'll probably run for long time. I would use more oil though, maybe 25% or even 30% maybe.
Hi Earl - i'll ad more castor to bring the content up to around 30% before I give it a try on spark ignition.... :)
