Review of the increase in vaping devices found while pot (weed) pipe finds are decreasing from metal detecting ski areas. All finds were from the Mt Ashland ski area in Oregon. The feasibility of micro-scrapping a vaping device is reviewed as a disposable vape is taken apart. The ecological impact of lost/discarded vape devices is also part of the discussion. #vapelife #recycling #metaldetecting
Abandoned Dirt Bike (Yamaha?) Found in the Forest. What to do?
Просмотров 8873 месяца назад
This right to the point video is about stumbling across a discarded dirt bike in the woods while metal detecting and my options for removing it. The bike appears to be a Yamaha but I'm certainly no expert. I'm thinking that my best option is to find someone that can use parts off it (maybe the wheels) and scrap the rest. It's been there for quite some time so I don't know but it's worth asking ...
Over 40 Seated Liberty Coins Found Detecting & my Newbie Experience with Professional Grading

In this video I share all the seated liberty coins I found at two gold rush sites from metal detecting. I share a theory as to why the distribution of coins was so heavily weighted towards half dollars aided by the writings of Mark Twain. I conclude with my rookie experience of getting a nice 1861S (Civil War era) dime found detecting professionally graded and slabbed. The result was both excit...
4 Reasons I Packed Out this TV Circuit Board found while Metal Detecting in the Forest
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
I run across many things associated with my metal detecting hobby including discarded junk. On this last hunt I stumbled upon a shot up television deep in the forest. It's anyones guess how it got there but I put the circuit board from the TV in my pack and brought it back. I had 4 good reasons for doing so: 1) Human made trash does not belong in the forest. 2) This item can be scrapped and rec...

California Gold Rush - New Chinese Site Discovery. Opium, Porcelain and Coin.

Gary and I visit my friends property near the Klamath river where the closest largest town is Yreka which was very active during the California gold rush in the 1850's. This is an exploratory visit with no expectations on a section of the property we haven't yet set foot upon. After a day out detecting we are pleasantly surprised to have found Chinese relics including a coin from the 1700's, be...

Ski Area Detecting - Success! Damaged Cash Value Recovered.

This video chronicles the highlights of our last hunt (including finding more currency) and success in turning "trashed cash" to full worth. Not what I was Looking For! Explosives Found Metal Detecting.
Просмотров 1017 месяцев назад
We didn't have much success in the way of cool historic artifacts but I did find a cache of blasting caps around old gold workings in Northern California. It's certainly not what I was hoping to find but all things found tell a story and this find is no exception. My last video was on finding anti-tank mines. I hope the explosives trend does not continue!

Good job, Ed!
Thanks! Tell Dave the bears only come out at night. No worries!
@@green594 That's good to know, thanks! :)
Great video Ed. keep'em coming. Like to see more.
That bear appears to be set for Winter!
This was a delight Ed! Enjoyed every moment of it!
That's how trees travel from one place to another. lol
Getting very brave climbing up higher
Very determined little guy
I love watching the wildlife animals ❤
Chances are it was partially dismantled to facilitate loading and it fell off the trailer.
Possibly but looks like they decided to dump it on side of the road.
@ I had to dismantle my 12” to move it. Hard to believe that someone would dump 1/2 of a saw like that. And not the other 1/2.
Nice find. Those brass pieces are valuable to a dewalt user (like me), especially that arbor nut...
One thing I found out recently is that a lot of electrical wire insulation from around this time had asbestos in it. There's no guarantee those cloth/rope looking parts had embedded asbestos fibers but it's good to be aware of this.
Take the bad coins put them in a rock tumbler with dishsoap two cups water and a handful of silica sand. Let go for a half hour.
The bank won’t take the damaged coins?
I always discard bad zinc pennnies
Good job in selecting a gift card. Their fees are outrageous!
Well I learned something new today.
I found this video interesting, from cleaning the coins to getting your Amazon gift card. Thanks for posting.
Watching this video with the AirPods Pro Gen 2 I found metal detecting!
Ha ... that's fantastic!
That Costco ad was for a pair of Gen 3 Airpods. You found Gen 2 Airpods Pro, which have an even larger SRP of $250. That is a very big find considering they work like new! As far as the other Airpods cases you found, I think the one still with the lid (and the pods that can't connect) is a Gen 2 case, and the one without the lid is a Gen 1 case. I would be very curious if the Gen 2 Airpods could take a charge in the broken case 😂
Whoa .. that's pretty awesome. No wonder the sound is so nice. Maybe the silicon protector helped this one survive. Good idea for $250 AirPods. But bad day for the person that lost them.
Surprise that there's not some kind of locking over washer for the wingnut so it doesn't vibrate off easy enough to get one though yeah?
Right ... got one!
put them into rolls and deposit them into your account
Where are good places to find buried coins?
Pretty much any place where people have been active.
#vapelife lol
It is often hard these days to actually use cash. However, if you make the effort, you can throw in a few of the damaged coins in each purchase although really 120 bad pennies is $1.20. Just throw them in a recycle bin or some other trash container, because it is probably not worth the effort
I agree. Not worth the effort. I hardly use cash anymore anyway.
I thought they came back marked environmental damage
Surely your bank will take them. In the UK, a bank will take them, and the bank of England will even exchange out of circulation bank notes.
The bank isn't too happy about it. Depends on the clerk.
You can totally melt old pennies down. Just throw in a few bullion pieces to throw the chemistry off.
Did anyone else see the coin with the old ladies face on it? Wow he was talking about drying all the coins
I think it's great that you're helping to clean up the planet one piece of garbage at a time. If this is a drop in the proverbial bucket, we can only imagine how immense the bucket is. Even if environmental protectors were to roam the earth with government-issued metal detectors, future litterbugs are born every day. The big question: How to achieve a global change of behavior? In the meantime, your effort is meaningful.
Sandy, thanks for the comment! Yes ... it's a drop in the bucket but collectively it all adds up.
I just spend all the coins at businesses as I find them, because they still are legal tender and when those coins go to a bank, they are taken out of service by the bank through the mint.
I was thinking you can give them to the homeless but they might reject them too 🤣
We've metal detected some old homeless camps. Lot of pennies around (among other things).
DUMB
put the rejects in rolls and bring them to a bank
I soak mine in vinegar and salt and they usually clean up good enough to spend
What other government would make coinage that costs them more to make than the face value of the coin. Gotta love it!!!
Use a rock tumbler, they clean the coins MUCH better let it run over night, half full of coins a bit more water than half way, also use borax to help clean them. I use some sort of abrasive, aquarium gravel, very small stones, "pee gravel" very course sand. You have choices. You can not do as many at a time. also you may not have to run over night. Play with it, figure it out... The reject coins do not look bad compared to the ones found at salt water beaches, some times they are mostly gone and cannot tell it was ever a coin...
Your little hairy tuckus made out like a bandit
salt lemon juice cleaning them
Spend them
i just spend them penny's.
Considering there is a $10,000 fine if you melt any pennies or nickels, I wouldn't do it.
It's a 441 BSA victor. Single cylinder. Collecabal to BSA/British bike collectors
I have one pcs of us liberty one cent
I used to throw my spare change into a bucket and cash them in when the bucket was full. Three years ago I moved from the US to the Philippines and I started doing the same thing, thinking no big deal. When I walked in with over 2000 one peso coins (worth about 1.5 cents each) to get whatever they used to "roll" up the coins, the teller immedaitely called security and the branch manager. The manager saw the coins and immediately called the local branch of the National Police. They held me for about 45 minutes, questioning me the whole time about where did I get the coins, who gave them to me, was I working to get them (in violation of my visa). I didn't understand and was polite in answering their questions. Finally the police showed up, one officer looked at the coins, looked at me then asked "are you American?" I of course answered yes and showed my passport. The officer talked to everyone for a few minutes in Filipino, and everyone except the manager and officer walked away. The officer said he understand, being American, why I had so many coins since it's common AND LEGAL to do so in America. But in the Philippines, having over 1000 of any coin demoination is considered coin hoarding and IS ILLEGAL, punishable with an up to 200,000p ($4000 USD fine), six months in jail, and in my case, justification for deportation and blacklisted. But the officer said he also knew of me, heard locals say nice things about me and realized I was keeping an American custom. He told the manager to take the coin, fill out a report on how they were acquired and give me the amount in paper script. The officer then asked, you don't have over 1000 of another coin, do you. I quickly said no (truth) and will make sure to keep less than 500 pesos total ($10) in coins for tips and gifts to the needy. I was then sent on my way. Just thought I would share that not every country is like the US regarding its currency.
Its probably stolen id leave it alone
I might end up doing that. I'll first see how easy (or difficult) it is to get a BLM permit to remove it.
I have seen the "harshly cleaned" designation.
Wow .. I didn't know that was out there. Probably not used too often.
I live in an area that is fairly target poor for metal detecting. I tried it awhile, but not much luck. Also, no active clubs around here. I envy you. As for the coin and grading. Basically there are only 2 grading companies that coin collectors and dealers really recognize and value: PCGS and NGC (A third recently got started by some of the same people that started the other 2, but it hasn't been around long. The whole coin grading company thing kind of reminds me of insurance agents churning customer policies). So the first thing I would suggest is going forward, use one of them. ICG, unfairly or not, is considered a 2nd or third tier company and their holdered coins almost always sell at a discount to the other two companines. ICG is saying the condition of the relief features and fields of your coin would merit VF 35 but for certain details. In this case the detail is it is cleaned. Unfortunately, to numismasists cleaned is cleaned. It basically means the surface of the coin was altered intentionally. It will always result in a discounting of the value of the coin. There are degrees of cleaning, such as "harshly", wizzed, dipped, etc., but these will seldom be noted by the grading companies and how much it effects the value of the coin is a subjective call by the buyer. For what it's worth, I agree with you. Coins are much more beautiful and better enjoyed outside of a holder. I kind of wish we could go back to the days where the condition of an individual coin was more or less arrived at by a concensus of dealers, sellers, buyers and collectors. But those days are long gone, along with most local coin shops. And as long as you are buying from a legitimate dealer, having coins in holders makes buying online with confidence possible. Great finds!
Awesome job continue to work on your videos.
This appears to be a 1971 Yamaha DT1MX. However, the engine configuration is a little different. Even in it's current condition it's worth approx. $200. Early offroad isn't my strong point so it could bring more. If you can get air in the tires and have a friend with a dirtbike or small atv to drag it home, it should be worth it. $200 for a days work/ a bit of adventure/ a good story & a good deed should make it worth your time. IN ADDITION: Contact your local Ranger & explain what you'd like to do. Some jurisdictions will penalize & possibly arrest you for removing a vehicle(no matter how derelict). Good luck!
Great idea! It's on BLM land near my property. I'll check in with a friend I have that works at the BLM and see if there is a problem. Wow ... 1971. I wonder how long it's been out there and why it was abandoned. Of course it could have been stolen. I appreciate your input.
@@green594 If it's BLM you'll almost certainly need permission. Upside is that they'll most likely be happy to issue a removal permit for no fee. It will also provide documentation in lieu of title. These bikes sell for between 5k-15k in good to mint condition. A long way from $200 but someone will snatch it up as a parts or project bike.
pennies that can’t be exchange melt them. Bank or machine rejects them
