NATURE BITES BACK! Pt 16: The Piranha-Verse (1978 - 2012)
She is the hottest nun I've ever seen❤
I like plots like: This man invented a time machine and travelled into the past and into the future. This man had a laboratory and he made a potion that could turn him into a monster and back into a man. Even, this man was caught with a smoking gun in his hand and a dead body on the floor, and he had to go on the lam across country and try to prove he was innocent. Not one bit interested in time wasting "puzzles". Six minutes into this video I have seen enough of these two babes. Or four babes.
The wildly overrated David Lynch.
Wow, thank you for taking time out of your deeply consequential life to share your opinion, your selfless act has..
3:57 The British Inquisition.
Most tragic, heartbreaking film ever made. An utter masterpiece.
Well done
Congratulations to Leigh for not having Skarsgard in the lead.
Hope this good, we need more werewolf movies tho I was disappointed we weren't getting Ryan Goslings Wolfman
Bill Nighy forgot to mention the Underworld movies he was in.
Not my favorite survivalist movies, but worthy episode on Mary Wild's segment. Thanx!!!
Perhaps Roman Polanski’s Macbeth could suit these criteria.
The movie is not bad. But it's not a masterpiece like the first film. Much of the story reminded me of the classic 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968). And I was kind of stunned when the two girls entered the discotheque in Rome in 1971 and listened to Boney M's 'Daddy Cool' which was released in 1976. 😁
Just got home from seeing Nosferatu at the cinema. this was great to listen to. Thanks
A brilliant masterpiece ❤❤❤
i disagree with the definition for folk horror. its horror centered around folk beliefs...no need to complicate it further. not to mention the part about strange customs feels borderline disrespectful for some parts
Wonderful movie
I absolutely loved this movie. It was so incredibly beautiful.
This is the most exciting movie ive seen in a while. The cinematography, sound and set designs, costumes, performances and reimagining of the story is mesmerizing. The attention to detail, the historical references and evolution of this genre is so refreshing to see. I can't wait to see what he continues to create. Ive seen it 3 times and want to go again while its in theaters. ❤❤❤❤❤
The pacing and sound design were awful. Walked out about an hour and a half into it. Wasted potential. More stillness and why he didn’t think to use Bella Bartok’s string quartets I’ll never figure out. I’d rather watch a Hammer film. This film was a puff piece and shows how tacky modern day “occultists” are in the rotting corpse that is the film industry.
It’s not that deep. If you want the original, just watch the original.
Coming from the creator of the utter garbage that’s on your channel, your comments are quite laughable.
Ouch!!😮💨
Go make a film.
Aaaagh what a great interview!! ❤❤❤
Always amazing to hear from Robert Eggers! I wish he do more horror films based in history like colonialism or bubonic plague.
Great interview!
Awesome! Can't wait to see this again. Thanks for all your hard work Mike, you make movies fun
Oz perkins cool 😎
I think Mike absolutely nails it. I LOVE Nic Cage but I don’t even think he needed to be in this movie. First act was faultless. The rest was great but I think if less had been explained it would have been better.
Round 3 was brilliant 😂 "you've got to be flipping kidding" 😂
10:20 this is what the movie is really about. What did this actress have to do with these criminals in order to get the part? And what would that do to the psyche of someone?
The book Hex.
Freaking amazing
When I was a kid, I found the idea of "The day after Tomorrow" terrifying. Funny that
I always preferring the lower budget film Night of the Twisters. Think it came out aroundnthe same time.
Go Renny!! 🇫🇮
Damn, that's a brilliant video essay! More and more I start to realise that folk horror is one of my favourite sub genres. People are often just bloody scary, especially in group dynamics, these movies empasize this particular horror. The Wicker Man is one of the greatest films ever made in my opinion. Every minute of it is perfect, but I love almost all the films shown here.
Big dumb movies make great big dumb discussion!! Take Shelter and Melancholia make a great addition to the season. May I suggest a double bill on relatively recent movies about wolves: Joe Carnahan's The Grey and Hold of the Dark. And I'm still waiting on an explanation on why Jurassic Park or Gremlins aren't included! Thanx!!!
I always thought Skarsgard’s death was a reference to Jaws 3.
Love Deep Blue Sea Don't love Lake Placid good poster tho
I don't think James Ferman was quite as patronising as you portrayed him! What he said is that the context in which the films were watched made a huge difference,so he was watching in a clinical setting and trying to look at the films objectively, whereas most of the viewers would be in a normal home environment, and not have their critical faculties turned on.
I joined your last pub quiz (Halloween 2024) so now I'm doing all the other ones on the channel - I love them!
Bit late to the party this month but just to say, Grotesquerie was the best thing R'Murphs had done in ages...until the rug pull in ep7. The last three eps were total misery porn so not one for you Steph.. xx
Excellent event. Thank you for putting this event on!
Why is there so much smoke after she shoots herself? What does it mean?
Because it’s not any dream/reality stuff like everyone’s been saying for decades, it’s two parallel realities and the movie is about the metaphysical and mystical reordering of two worlds that bleed into each other in the middle. It makes no sense that the trash monster and the smoke and such would happen in that part of the movie, because Diane is awake and then dead. There is no dream happening here because it just doesn’t add up and makes the boring incredibly boring. The smoke is connected to the otherworldly dimension that Lynch plays around with here.
The Lighthouse and Enys Men would make a great episode with Jen!!!
a few things need more commentary: (1) there are some scenes during the "reality" section that are not real at all, such as when the miniature elderlys come under the door, or where the hobo handles the blue box, or when cowboy wakes her up. (2) Diane never sees the hobo in the reality (the audience does) - so how did she imagine the scene when the hobo appeared in her dream? (3) when the cowboy wakes her up .. is she dreaming that or did he really just open her locked door to let himself in .. and technically he actually appears twice with a 1 second whiteout gap between views .. but if she imagined him, we later see cowboy at the party .. so is this 3-times or 1-time we see him (4) the scene when Diane is given the address and then being driven to 6980 M Drive comes after the dream, so how could she have dreamed the scene with the same drivers? i guess all movies have plotholes, even a so-called 'masterpiece'
Great to actually see you guys during my monthly Fresh Blood binge session. So incredibly valuable during this high volume era of horror. May it continue indefinitely! Cheers and thanks as always!
Completely off the point but Steph's wall colour is lovely 😂
Thank you so much. This was fun. Even if i failed miserably. I wish i could attend them live. But they are usually at about 10 pm local time and i get up at 4 am for work
