Sad update
I felt I needed to upload a quick video to explain the lack of content. I'm a very private person and not prone to public airing of dirty washing but I though making this video might help me a little. Also, if you're in a similar position to let you know you're not alone. #permissiontotorque

Here it is, the much awaited follow up. We've removed the Divvy's tank and now the carbs. This video shows the whole process so hopefully you can learn form my mistakes! Apologies for the glitchy flash during the intro and the couple of seconds of black at 01:09 Tried everything to get rid of it but my editing package hates me.

Van driver learns to ride motorcycle - First Vlog
Terrible video, haven’t got a clue.
Yup, I I put in the description…not a tutorial, just sharing my experiences. Thanks for watching dear viewer :)
I bought one years ago, no pick up in the rev range, no fun at all. It was like driving a dull family 1.6 ford focus. Luckily the dealer I bought it from split the front fairing up, underneath the headlight while trying to fit a bulb. I had a full refund, and I thanked my lucky stars I was rid of it. 😂
Awwww yeah, no rev range at all really. I think MCN called it the Diesel Vauxhall Corsa of the bike world. It’s quite nice to have a simple predictable motor though. Look how many Danville’s were sold!
Very good vid.👍👍 Thanks a lot I expieriened the same Desaster with my XJ 900 58L 1985😂
Thank you! All part of the fun eh?! 😅
I have a 1996 one and I like it with all its quarks. It rattles, it pops, it crackles, but most importantly, it works. So far
I think they’re generally thought to pretty reliable long term. Rattles and pops are character 😂
45000 miles and still going strong. Ticks a bit when warm, doesn't use any oil, starts first time.... What's not to like?😁
Mine ticks too. I understand its from the valve train. It gotten even a bit more noticeable after i did the valve clearances and most of them were so so very tight.
Neighbor gave me his, front caliper was seized up and the gas tank was rusty. Restored them and loving it as my first bike.
My girlfriend told me to comment that you seem nice and not to listen to the haters 😓
I bought one too last year November 2023 in Germany . Currently in Cameroon. I think is a great bike❤
Sorry to hear life's rough for you. I just was gifted a 1996 Seca II and am just far enough behind you on mine. It's not the kind f gift you ever want as a friend died unexpectedly. Know it is helpful to put time into your projects to give yourself a break from the difficult things.
Thank you for your message. It is quite helpful to have a focus isn't it. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. This video was filmed nearly a year ago now and things are much better. I will post an update video at some point very soon!!
I have one the same for 8yrs 24ooo. Miles spent nothing on it. Oil change every 2yrs . Don't start easy if left for 2weeks . Then it's fine if I run every week
AAAAAH I fucking hate whoever the fuck mounted the carburators on my fzs600 in the wrong positions and now the drain screws are looking inward the bike and i can't access them without remove the whole array
Hey buddy guess what? I just bought one myself. So been sitting so went through the tank carbs and a new strong battery so it’s been starting and running all of a sudden next time I tried to start it I was getting this buzzing sound coming from the brain under the seat, so I bought on just to see if it is the problem. So far new tires plugs oil etc. put a new battery now electrical probs! I’m new so I can use all the advice I can get. Good riding my friend
Check your sidestand switch and neutral switch. There are very few things to go wrong and are very easy to get to and check. Just look up the service manual. Check and clean all the contacts. Betcha it'll work great.
I had the same problem I just sawing until I reach the plate and the using and impact to screw it off
Those XJ600's are great machines so you have joys ahead, but keep your chin up and remember that health and happiness are the priorities.🏍🏍
Ive always wanted a Seca II, that's what is called in my country and y just bought one with 9000 miles for a really good price in mint condition, greetings
life is really hard and just getting through the days can be hard. I’m sending you strengths and love bro!! Smash on with them carbs it might help you take your mind off things ❤
Thank you! That was a while ago and things are much better now. Really kind of you to comment and take the time. Much love!
I’ve had a few of these. Love em. Also the pre diversion was a lovely ride too. I also had a xj900 diversion which really was fantastic up hills! Pulled really well.
Yeah, 'd quite like to try the 900. Roomier bike also.
Very nicely explained. For sure it cannot be done in just 1 hrs I think. At least for some that would do it for the first time. Got my like. Just to ask you... do you have a video about replacing the brake pads on the XJ? Thanks a lot. :)
Sadly not, Lots on here though. It's fairly straight forward.
@@motodevcam I see. Thanks anyway. :) .
Lovely vid this, will be picking up a 97 model XJ 600N this evening. Sometimes though its cool to have older cars or bikes, something with less tech / computers but more mechanical.
Ah cool! Thanks for the nice comments too! Enjoy your XJ! Yeah, thee is a certain charm isn't there.
Is that black widow a twin exhaust like the stock or is it just one? Solid bikes
Yeah, it's a twin 👍
The most calm Fazer owner I've seen...
Unwatchable...due to terrible camera work.
Awww thanks Jim :)
Just happened across your fazer carbs vid and then I saw your sad update. Hope all goes well keep smiling.
Thanks Anthony , that's kind :) out of the worst now thankfully so hoping to start getting some content out soon! Thanks for your message :)
When I took the the vacuum hose of it started too leak fuel. I made sure the lock was the right way. Any idea why? Great video!
Hmm...Shouldn't do..Make sure the petcock isn't in the prime position as that will make that happen. Could just need to service the petcock also. Kits available for just a few quid.
At 4;53 , there is no reason to loosen those lower screws . My personal preference is to disconnect fuel hose only at the pump side end because the plastic T-connector at the carburetor is brittle ( it may be 30 yrs old ) . There has been metallic aftermarket T-connectors available .
Hope you’re ok dude. You know where I am if you wanna chat. PS. There are no angles 😮
Stay Strong
I sent you a FB message
Im having a nightmare trying to fit my xj600 carbs back on. They keep popping off the rubbers.
Yeah, been there!! Trying to get them all in then one pops off etc. Try warming them up with a hair dryer to make them more pliable?
highly recommend getting new ones as old rubbers shrink and lose flexibility. Those rubbers between engine & carbs aren't expensive and can easily be bought. But the rubbers between airbox and carbs are a completely different story. Those rubbers came in two versions with different diameters. And you can buy only used ones. I didn't realized that until I've disassembled my seca II and couldn't get airbox back on the carbs so have to buy entire used airbox with a set of 4 bigger diameter rubbers. Sometimes ppl don't realize that and try to put smaller rubbers on bigger connectors without success.
Great content! Thanks
Looks like the the diaphragm has perished somewhat...always gotta check your rubbers for some holes
I actually haven't inspected that yet. Certainly looks like it. Thankfully you can get a kit from WeMoto. Couldn't believe all the crap in there. No wonder I had start and running issues. Once the carbs are done it will be 99% mechanically sorted. (Hopefully)
Surely you should use Dirrrty by Christina Aqua thingymabob 🤷♂️
Bugger yes!!!! I was looking for something appropriate for ages then got bored. I found a couple but it felt a bit "homes under the hammer"!!
@@motodevcam I have a good sense for music. Even if I do say so myself 😂
I like how you got your own bike wrong 😳😃
It's been a tough week. 😐
You can get a JIS screw driver with built in impact. It's not as good as a normal impact with JIS heads, but those are harder to find
Let me know if you want to borrow either. I have both
Well, I've just bought an impact driver and ordered some JIS impact bits for it so should be all set! Thank you though!!
Whenever I had an issue with seized screws for carb bowls I used to used a screwdriver bit and give them 3 taps with a hammer, tends to do the trick
Sadly tried that. The screws are so soft that even after lots of hammering and even hammering whist turning it just starts to kill the head. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)
Find working from home in my job problematic 😂
Haha yeah it's not that efficient is it? 😂
Same yahamahaha here, quite rust in the tank, need to redo the fuel valve. Is the hexagonal thing a pump and are they serviceable? I am a bit afraid of the carburettors and my technical knowledge combined
The carbs are fairly easy. Keep them while (attached together) and it's just a case of loads of carb cleaner spray and ideally an airline to blow out any bits in the channels that you've loosened. Balancing is fairly simple too with just basic ability. Yeah, the hexagonal thing is a pump of sorts. It's a diaphragm that activates a valve basically when the pressure builds to suck through the fuel. Have you looked at the XJRider forum? An endless amount of information and How-to documents, most with photos.
@@motodevcam If somebody needs XJ information , better hurry up since XJrider is closing up in November .
@@ciao5066 oh no really??! It's my main source !!
Hi, i have this cycle im in Italy
I saw you hanging out the back of that yesterday.
That's what she said 🤣🥳
Take pictures or just follow your films, will take them out tomorrow maybe. Was running poorly last year against the cold in October, started in Nov and Dec. Now not running anymore.
Don’t be a Bob 😂
Man, dont give me plans
Speedy recovery "Bob" I saw a motorcycle this morning with bold tyres. Scary 26 years old 😲
Ha yeah, nuts isn't it!!
