University of Karate - Uechiryu Half Hard Half Soft?

Is Uechi-ryu Hard or Soft? Aspects you won't hear. Also referred to as the deadliest style for self defense.
Okinawa karate Is only more practical Kung Fu for self defense And full contact situations. MMA fanboys don't know how deadly karate truly Is.
Folks, if you really want to test yourself or your art.....get into the cage with a MMA fighter - then you`ll know for sure !
You even dont understand, what this video is trying to teach you, my friend. Look at the real content and message here, and you will know yourself, its has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with MMA or combat sports in general. If you want to fight and thats it, just do it. Do for yourself, as you like. But dont give advise to people, what havent only a little interest in experiencing sports fights only.

I'm really enjoying these talks!! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks you!
One of the desirable side effects from severe martial arts training, any martial art, is the physical fitness that results.
That is what makes it an "art" rather than just fighting.
Interesting, you train so you don’t need to use kata. That sounds similar to what Bruce Lee said. In one of his movies, where he talked about fighting without having to rely on technique. ruclips.net/video/POnQYx2tTH4/видео.html
Yes! Very insight full! I have a video coming that will discuss that.
Sanchin has no kicks... It's unique. It's not Chi Gong and not just a kata.
Its also qigong
Nope. It came from the Sam Bo Gin forms of Southern Shaolin. Which is hard qigong.
Correct. Sanchin is a structure (not the ideal word but best i can come up with) from which the other pieces are pinned into. Kanbum said "All is Sanchin" which means a lot.
@@PHILLYBULLDOG I actually meant not just qigong. sorry for the confusion
the Sanchin thrust is like an underhanded punch delivered with the elbow against the side. the elbow must not rotate out away from the side. only the forearm turns over and the biceps remain on top not turned in towards the side.
Its a classic mistake to let the elbow snap out. That reduces power and promotes injury to the elbow. So many karate practitioners (almost all that I see) do this. Makes the gi snap better but not very good as a technique.
@@UniversityofKarate Letting the rear heal turn inward instead of heal out in the elongated Sanchin elbow strike position has become prevalent as well.
Mma is fake copy cat culture vulture, what's next Mexican jujutsu or Elsavaldor? Lol
We also had in hung gar soft internal forms : sup yin , and tid sin kuen
very good , but i miss the qigong exercices and how to do this

Tu deja de hablar basura el fundador del estilo entreno kung fu del tigre, dragón y grulla y creo el uechi ryu
Years ago I watched a film called Karate Kill, the lead actor did a kata kinda similar to this style it was mesmerizing. heres a link ruclips.net/video/MX0N3VKFRC4/видео.html the kata starts at 46:26, I was wondering if it's UECHI-RYU if you have the time to check it out.
It is not Uechi-ryu but one of its close relatives. Not sure which one. But the same sort of aspect that exist in Uechi-ryu look to be present there.
Too hard or too soft? Sounds similar to Goju-Ryu?
Ah, yes you have seen into it! I will bring that out in future videos.

All Kata is subject to misunderstanding, which is why I advocate clandestine dojos. Kata is the DNA of the martial arts, and a very important component in any REAL martial art.
For sure! All that is needed is in the forms, but they are hidden and disguised. Takes many years to see into them. Will be doing more videos on the idea of kata and its importance, which is generally disregarded today due to as you say misunderstanding.
Once you understand that kata is the sole practice of combined grappling and striking techniques, then everything becomes clear. To understand this you have to look at a very old kung-fu style called Shuai Jiao which methods became the base for all other kung-fu styles. All original fighting methods combined grappling and striking.

Mas Oyama "conditioned" his first and second knuckles by punching trees. Ouch!😅
Yes, and it he also reversed punched a bull and cut off his horn (reportedly).
wing Chun = Snake and crane. hung gar = Tiger and crane
Interesting - thanks for sharing that.
Hung Gar: have the other animals, etc! Loong (dragon) Shr(snake) Pao(leopard) 🤨Euchi-Ryu is pure Fukien (Fujian) Siu Lum (Shaolin) 😬

@@frankmartinez4856 True, but is comprised of Tiger Dragon and Snake. How much still remains within the existing forms is the question. But I believe enough "fragments" exist to discover more.

Okinowan kung fu 🤐
All karate is kung-fu, Okinawan kung-fu!
i see traditional Chinese kung fu movement s
For sure, I think all of the styles have common characteristics. I am going to do several video's on that topic.
@@UniversityofKarate Hello Sensei, if I don´t remeber wrong, a friend who practices Uechi-Ryu told me, that Kanbun Uechi learned Pangai-Noon in China- a style, what is lost...it had elements of White Crane, Tiger and Crane...maybe it was a family style which was an offshot of Hung Gar or Five Ancestor Fist? Who knows...
@@salvatoreplacidoplumari3840 You are correct, Kanbum learned from the Shaolin temple in China. I am sure its roots are related. It has been "modernized" over the years to an Okinawan style which is more linear. But there are enough fragments in the forms to derive more.
This is fantastic, I like the traditional karate styles I like learning anything that I’m interested in, how do I find your dojo by the way I like the crane part of your style, cheers 🇯🇵🇦🇺🇺🇸❤️☺️🙏👍💫✨🥋
Thank you so much. Sorry I don't teach anymore, retired so to speak. One reason for getting all this out. Yes, over the years I have found my movement patterns to be much more crane. I like the circular movements and multiple angles.
❤❤Yes this system very fascinating ,deadly and lethal...uechio Ryu karate...

I am not going to denigrate any style. All styles Karate, Kung fu, MMA, BJJ etc have something to offer. My goal is to give out what I have learned thru the years. Generate thought and discussion. Open some doors to some deeper meaning of the arts.
@@michaelbittel2618 No, actually some offer nothing like Aikido which isn't even a martial art and is a complete waste of time.
@ I disagree with that. There are aspects that can be taken from it. Look deeply enough there is more there that meet the eye and that can be adapted.
@@michaelbittel2618 I went against a 7th Dan Aikido Master and used one weapon, and left jab. He was helpless. If your "martial art" cannot even defeat a 1 hand weapon repeated over and over what good is it. I did a demonstration with a TKD black belt- all I did was walk at him until I cornered him. He had no idea what to do. The conformity of traditional martial arts with a lack of real stress testing is why they fail. Please show me an Aikido person winning a real fight!
@@michaelbittel2618 Doing a technically correct analysis is not denigrate anything. Proper training saves lives and keeps the real arts alive. You people live in a comic book.
@@robertlibby9716 Not true, there are places where Aikido it´s not bad but I prefer other styles for sure.

They’re all connected
I think all Chinese styles share a common core.

Useless vs MMA
Useless in MMA, not against MMA.
In this video you can see they train striking...thre is no striking techniques in mma?
MMA is also useless to learn this forms, but... So what?
Any healthy kid with y months of boxing will slaughter these guys. This crap is useless.
Add all the banned moves then go against MMA.
This seems like a combination of Wing chun and Lau Gar. Interesting.
I believe most all of the Chinese styles share common core values.

Resistance and redirection both are helpful in different situations. I value both aspects . As there is no one way to resolve a conflict. There's what works for the individual in a situation.
I am enjoying the conversations. I find much that I can also relate to in my 50 years of study.
Thank you. That is great!
"subjective opinion here"
Of course, they all are by all of us. That is good, open dialogue to create thought and discussion.
the upward wrist toe strike looks really weak.. you can do as much katas you want... but you really need to apply everything into a fighting situation. The great old gen Sensei seems to have included alot of movments with hands... just to include it for some illutional reasons. UFC made it all clear when every style did meet each other. Poor fellows with all types of styles where just having there asses handed over. So Bruce was right about better train few things many times, than train many things few times. It also seems that movements are neglected to a point.. in most styles of Karate/Kung Fu. Judo, BJJ and wrestling is effective, and so is kicking and different style of fist fighting... inkluded basic technics in Karate and Kung Fu.
That is very true, especially for sport combat. I am not trying to delve into only self defense as a purpose for practicing martial arts. Forms and kata are mostly misunderstood today. Of course no one can use the sequences performed in the katas, but the same can be said for any techniques. The forms have to be discovered over a period of time to understand how to apply them. My interest is not to try to compare various styles in the proverbial "what style is best for self defense". I will discuss it at some point for sure, but not in the common type of answer we normally see. By the way, have you ever seen someone break 4 boards with a toe strike which takes over 800 pounds of force? Or the same number of boards with a finger strike or one knuckle? Of course that takes years of dedication to accomplish.
@@UniversityofKarateА зачем ломать доски ударом пальца 😊.Потратить годы на чепуху ?
@@СергейМанько-ж7л I agree. Did some of that in my youth but decided I did not want messed up hands and fingers, toes. Later realized that with proper tensioning of the body that strength would develop via the katas.
The UFC is a sport with rules, referee, gloves and time outs in a sterile environment against a single opponent of the same size and experience. If people taught chimps to beat each other unconscious it would be outlawed.
MMA 3 times a week for 6 months is more effective than 20 years of traditional karate.
😂
You are certainly entitled to you opinion. I consider practicing the martial art a journey that I can participate in for a life time.
Effective for what? I have only met one MMA guy in his 90's. About 20 or 30 over 100yr old Karate & Kung Fu guys in the last 50yrs. Take from that what you will.
