The seeds for Surinam born modern soul singer Jeangu Macrooy’s musical journey are planted when he starts to play guitar at age thirteen. In 2014, he moves to the Netherlands where he meets producer/composer Perquisite, who signs him to his label Unexpected Records. From the release of debut EP 'Brave Enough' (2016), Jeangu’s career finds itself on the fast track. He releases his album 'High On You' in 2017 and plays at major festivals like Lowlands and North Sea Jazz. After the release of his secnd album 'Horizon' (2019), Jeangu is being announced as the representative for the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest; the actual participation follows in 2021. Jeangu’s third studio album 'Summer Moon' (2022) is his most candid yet. In ten outspoken songs Jeangu sings about longing to start a new life (Paris) and the idea that the grass is always greener (A Little Greener). Jeangu has in part returned to the sound of 'High On You', but 'Summer Moon' also has electronic influences.
