    It is Starlink. But all these satelittes are on balloons. Every single one. We were lied to. There are only 2 types of satellites Yuotube channel planate veritas Author Robert Bassano Video library All satel.... are on balloons The video is 2 hours long and in English. A. The Lockheed U2-S, flies 25 -30 km high, top speed 800 km per hour. Eight hundred. B. Global hawk C. The hawkeye prop Jets who are the eyes of every carrier of the us navy D. Helium-based STRATOSPHERE BALLONS. NASA is the largest consumer of helium in the world. Balloon size up to 500,000 m3. Carrying capacity for up to 4 tons payload. At the bottom of the balloon hangs the so-called satellite. Launching takes place in remote regions. Arctic Antarctica North Sweden. Altitudes up to 80 90 km. Can stay up for several months. Ability to maintain radio contact with objects billions of km away = zero. To be verified In Ytvideo planate veritas Robert Bassano All satelittes are on balloons. The video is 2 hours long and in English. It starts with an interview of a lieutenant who was a member of a secret air force unit in Alaska in the 50s 60s. This unit had the task to catch the satellites hanging on parachutes with special airplanes in the air after the balloons had been blown off. It gets really exciting when you look through the reference list of balloon satellite launches of the Swedish service provider. Among others, balloon launches for MIR 12 balloonlaunches INMARSAT 2 balloonlaunches ENVISAT 13 balloonlaunches NASA > 8 balloonlaunches And there will be more than one service provider than the Swedes In another part you will see how such a satellitelaunch via balloon in Antarctica really happens. In the last part you make acquaintance with the Dragon Lady, the legendary Lockheed U2-S. SHE flies 25 -30 km high, top speed 800 km per hour. Hi Peter, appreciate the tips. I was planning on going out tomorrow night to see the sunrise (Saturday). I have a FWD VW Atlas and want to verify if conditions are recommendable now but no one answers at the Visitor Center. Could you help?

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 Год назад

      Hi Jay, Yes this time of year the visitor center is only open on Saturday and Sunday. You can find Road conditions here however www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=30308 Its forecast to be almost record temps this weekend. The record is 122 and its forecast to be 119º which means it may be 100º even at midnight so you need to be extra cautious and be prepared if you were to get stuck. There is some cell service if you get up out of the wash. There is also a Facebook Group SoCal off Road Recovery SOS facebook.com/groups/scor.sos That can help out (I'm a member) It's summer, so the trail is not driven much and with the heat and no rain it makes the sand softer so I really can't give advice on if you should go or not. But if you do, again it's important to keep moving and not stop in a soft area (the part I show in the video) I'm not sure if you have driven it before or not so I forget if you've experienced it in good condition that's why I hesitate to give a recommendation as I don't want responsibility. AWD systems are allover the place in capabilities. I would recommend turning OFF traction control as that can stop AWD dead in their tracks because it prevents wheel spin and you need some wheel spin (but not a lot). Some systems can have you at a standstill even with the engine floored, some have better computers that figure it out. I have zero experience with Atlas. Good luck if you go

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 Год назад

      I've thought about this and I'm going to recommend against it. Simply because I have no idea about your life experiences and what you've experienced in extreme weather. I've experienced up to 130º in Death Valley and 122º here and it's no joke. I;ve seen it take down people in minutes. There's zero shade on the trail so even in your car it can be an oven. You may say well, i'll go out at night but then you are driving an unknown trail in the dark and without off road lights it's very hard to see contrast in the sand to find the grooves. I mean I live 5 miles form Fonts and I don't drive trails in the summer even with 4WD. But you can do as you like. I just would feel awful if something were to happen

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 Год назад

      Hi, Thanks so much for watching. In October, The sand has had the whole summer heat to dry out (unless there are summer monsoons) so it will be at it's softest And also there isn't much traffic on it in summer and that makes it soft too. That shouldn't really deter you thou if you have 4WD (not AWD) 4 x 4 truck is Great! . Stay to the center of the road where you see other tracks and the most important thing is to just keep moving elastically in the area I showed in the video. Also, make sure you are aware it can still be 100º still in October so prepare with plenty of water and supplies. I'm not trying to scare you but just to prepare you. You really should be just fine and you'll really enjoy it. I've never not had someone gasp when they get to the overlook

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 Год назад

      There are some places with some soft sand so avoid the edges of the road. On the one way section at the bottom, it's not so much a traction thing, it's more watching for rocks sticking up so you have to chose your line well. So I would say yes, but a lot depends on driver skill through the soft parts and the bumps

      @petertellone7665 Год назад

      Hi, I was in Death Valley the end of January but did not ho back down there. But one thing I noticed while driving it on that trip was how subject the road was to washouts. It hadn't really rained in a couple years before I went so it had some time to heal with traffic but you still could see the deep ruts along the side of the road plus there are two very deep drainages you go through over the road. So from that and also I stopped and looked at the amount of water in the Amargosa River, I would bet it's not in great shape, especially since that road does not get a lot of traffic to flatten out the ruts. But I have no other information than that. Sorry

      We were there on 3/17/23. We first stopped by the ghost town, and ate lunch there, and then drove up to the mine closest to the spring. We took in a stock 2015 Subaru Outback. Only upgrade to the car was 6 ply LT tires. Barely made it in, but we did. Wouldn’t recommend taking in an Outback. Would take my Tacoma with 3” lift and 4 low next time. Great spot, very fun exploring. My kids and wife loved it. Ibex Springs Rd has several deep washouts past the radio tower, and then a really deep one shown in another you tube video on the subject where a couple walked in, but like I said, the Outback made it, barely.

    You took the words out of my mouth. My first time at the Salton sea was with my grandparents in the early 90s. I visited bombay beach in probably 1999 and that was always my lasting memory of the place. It was pretty bleak. Back when there were still fish left in the sea (dying off rapidly). I came back a few weeks ago and was totally torn that the new IG era changed the image completely. Insted of exploring its more of a presentation and midly pandering. I can't say it's a bad thing particularly, because the area is deserving of some economic action. It has lost a little bit of the alure to me but I kind of embrace the evolution. I figure the more attention paid on the sea and the surrounding area the better, overall.

Plus the other side was at first I din't take it as seriously because I thought things would just stay the same there and they didn't, thing there one season might not and weren't there the next so I knew I needed to document this. I did a self published book at the time too . Anyway, it got people looking at me and I was able to do other things from there. Hi, Good question, I have never seen a bike out there but that doesn't mean it not doable. I know nothing about bikes so I'm not a good person to ask. But I do know that Dave of Borrego Bikes has run eBike tours of both coyote Canyon and Fish Creek both of which contain sandy washes. The worst areas of Font's wash would be no different than riding on the beach away from the water but that's about all the advice I have. Just watch the temperatures when you go. We have hit 100º already this season

      @@petertellone7665 Yeap I think temperature is a bigger concern for me as well, and I don't plan to ride there when the sun's down since I'm not familiar with the area. perhaps in the morning. I'll see how it goes!

      Make sure you do Michael! We just did it again last Monday and it's always magic. Make sure you investigate some of the rock outcroppings on the left on the way down to the bottom like Star Wars Rock, there are caves formed by the fallen rocks you can climb through on the north side of it. So much fun!. Thanks for watching!

      In the northern section above I70 a sedan can make it provided it has not rained. If it had rained then forget it. In the southern section on the country road you are fine but deeper in no . Great question !

    Hi Pete, thank you so much for your very helpful videos! We drive an Honda CR-V (2019) and we would love to go to Fonts Point and Malpais. We made it to Mud Caves, Hills of the Moon and Wind Caves last year, no problems. However, I know that every year and every road/wash is different. We will be in ABSP this Friday and I would love your honest -non legally binding (LOL!) -opinion

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 2 года назад

      Hey Denisse, Thanks so much. I hope the videos are helpful, I know I use other videos for trails in Death Valley I needed to know about. Well, you've got some good experience under your belts. Those routes are sandy but a bit harder pack. That being said, I don't think this year you should have any problem going out to Font's point from S22. I wouldn't have said that in 2020 when the sand was super soft but this year when I went out a couple weeks ago it was very well used and tamped down. Just in the area about 3/4 the way there when the road twists (see the Font's Point video) just keep moving and don't stop to look around right there and you should be great. As Far as Vista Del MalPais. Don't be tempted to use the cutacross from Font's (Short Wash) that connects the two. Short wash in between is SUPER soft sand. Instead, I would go back to S22 and look for the Trailhead Parking for Villagers Peak , That is Thimble Trail. Take that in to Vista Del MalPais (NOT Palo Verde) Most of Thimble is easy and hard pack, just watch for a few dips. At the end you will turn left onto Short wash. The first thing you will encounter are some deep ruts on an Incline, You have to straddle the ruts but it's not hard. and then up a little ways is the right hand turn for Vista Del MalPais. It's Kinda hard to see and you may go past it once. Now this is the only part that I would worry about more as the sand was fairly soft. So you DEFINATELY have to keep moving and Turn OFF traction control if you can. Alternatively, you can park outside the road to Malpais and hike in (1 mile each way) , OR you can actually hike along the rim from Font's point over to Malpais! (2 Miles each way). Anyway, that would be the one I'm not sure of, depends on your driving skills, tires and AWD or FWD on the CR-V. But if you run into problems you can message me here (if you get a signal) I'm not far in Borrego Springs and I'll come yank ya out LOL. Hope you go and enjoy it. Certainly one to add to your list. Cheers PT

We were very daring last year and ventured out to Pumpkin patch. Yes, we got stuck, twice! We are still very thankful to the group in Jeeps and ORVs that helped us and escorted us out of the mess we got ourselves in. Lesson learned! Out of downtown Borrego Springs on Palm canyon drive going east. Past Christmas circle and at the first intersection, make a left on Di Giorgio road. Follow road till it ends and you are entering the Coyote Canyon Trail

    Do you air down for the sand/washboard?

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 2 года назад

      Its'a good question. It would depend on the current conditions that change often, but personally it's not a trail I usually air down on. But I have a 4Runner and it handles washboard pretty well, but something stiffly sprung, may want to for comfort. But I rarely see anyone air down for it. I was just out the other night and it was pretty smooth sailing currently, not bumpy, not much soft stuff

      Hi Alex, thanks so much for commenting. Yes, at about 4 Miles in, you will see a road to the right and a circular pull off on the left. The road to the right is the start of the Whale Peak Trailhead. Enjoy, have a great hike

    • @petertellone7665
      @petertellone7665 2 года назад

      I think at 7:32 in on the video is where the trailhead starts. There is some soft sand at the beginning of the route out so just keep moving there. The rest you should have enough clearance just watch for some random rocks that may stick up
