I didn’t know there was talk about tearing down. I kind of like the look of the pl e, it’s a classic 70’s skyscrapers t hey need to redo the room decor, the weird Asian aesthetic is odd. It was more formal when I was a kid..being that back and improve the $70 breakfast on the roof.

Did you know that one of the people who built the Dakota was the founder of the Singer Sewing machines, which revolutionized the fashion industry. The apartments were sold way before it was finished and the walls get thinner as you go higher. There used to be a restaurant on the ground floor. It has great security and therefore a number of famous people sought out the Dakota as they like their privacy. Its history is fascinating and notice the dry moat that circles the building. It is so much more than the place where John Lennon was shot. I understand Yoko owns/owned several apartments in the building.

The New York City building authority should not have issued a construction permit without piling to bedrock, the Structural and Geotechnical Engineer should have required the piling driven to bedrock? Great to see the ship is still with us, thanks for the video. I'm reading a book by Eric Newby, The Last Grain Race, he signed up in 1938 aged 18 for this ship's final voyage, its a brilliant first hand account of life aboard and working the ship.
