Right hand dexterity is crazy good. If i close my eyes and just listen i don't hear the hype about him though🤷. But, yet again, these Steve Vai-ish guitar players have bored me to death from the start. Also that one bald dude whatever his name is.

Knowing Matteo when I spent the few days with him at our venue, I think he would humbly agree he is no Frank Gambale. But Matteo is still very young and has much more exploration into his own sound.

The guitar sound is different in this one , even from other Mancusos version of this tune , wich ate nothing but perfect.. this time, though, he laks of that Holsworth sound he use to achieve , too bad. First ever tine Matteo Macuso doesn't blow me away 😮.

I have always thought that bass solos, in jazz and fusion, with very rare exceptions, are so bad that they only serve to highlight the other instruments. The final applause at the bass solo, in fact, is due to liberation and not appreciation.😂
@@marioalbano3857 that’s an interesting perception that I can see caries some merit. Especially if the band is guitar-centric of course. For Weather Report, I was also looking forward to a Jaco bass solo. I guess it depends a lot on who is known as the strongest soloist in the band. You are right though. I see what you mean completely.

Awesome cover of Holdsworth...as usual sick playing creativity, perfect phrasing, timing, intonation... Shawn Lane also played this song in the eighties.
The synergy between the players was magical. Great playing on all accounts. I was honored to record it!

Thanks for posting this show! Nothing I need to add about the incredible playing, so I'll make a techhnical observation (as a broadcast engineer). The video is slightly behind the audio, which is not unusual due to video processing in the equipment. This can easily be fixed in post, or to do it live add a bit of delay to the mixer output that is being recorded. It's easiest to see on something like a snare hit. Thanks again and good luck!

I hear you. He is still very young and it is a common occurrence in young technical players.
Vituosos like Mancuso can not write good songs on their own- even if you hold a gun to their head. So they have to fall back on other peoples pieces.
