The Genius Behind Dune’s Sound-World
What does the future sound like? In Dune, Hans Zimmer crafts a score that transcends time, blending ancient influences with futuristic soundscapes to create a world where music is deeply tied to philosophy and culture. This video explores how the score reflects the core themes of the story: the reverence for the unknown, the introspective shift brought about by the Butlerian Jihad, and the ways humanity expresses power, faith, and self-control through sound. From the esoteric whispers of the Bene Gesserit to the raw chaos of the Harkonnens, Zimmer’s music acts as a immersive force, embodying a future where humanity’s survival depends on rediscovering its connection to the mystical and the...

Discover how taste and dialogic intertextuality are the keys to creating authentic and impactful m...

Really enjoyed the video and commentary! No need to justify why it matters because the content justifies itself! :)
I appreciate that thank you!
I am a 38 yrs old french woman discovering your channel. The way you describe Billie Eilish is soooo true. And your voice so soothing by the way. Bam ! I suscribed :) thank you !
That's very sweet thank you!
I’ve always felt like the genre is decided by the percussion section. It doesn’t matter what the auxiliary instruments do or what they sound like. I always listen to what the drums are doing. Just what helps me write.
Interesting take!
such an awesome video!! the 'playing god' deconstructions with the keyboard for visual aid were a genius idea! thanks for your insight on this topic 🥰
Thank you so much I’m very glad you liked it!
Hey, really nice Video. I was suprised when i saw you only have 300 subs. Your quality is so high. I Look forward to seeing your Channel grow and the next topics. Love from germany
Thank you I really appreciate that!
I had to pause the video halfway on "there existed a natural divide from culture and everyday life". Maybe you were trying to make a point but such phrase is absolute nonsense. Then you kept elaborating and i just paused and quit. Made me go from "this guy's pretty dense, maybe unnecesarily but i like where he's going" to "he's just babbling smart words".
Not a problem I appreciate your view and your comment for the algorithm cheers!
Sounds to me like you just don't understand "smart words" 🤣🤣 what he said made perfect sense
@@HC_Labs mate... Culture was very much not separated from the day to day life's of people in the past, even more, it was actual unadulterated culture, tradition, dancing, singing, playing, oral history, myths and legends. All these were performed directly by the group and for the group, while your 9-5 worker nowadays has youtube, Netflix and a few concert tickets he went saved somewhere. Saying such thing reveals the ideas of someone so alienated by academic thought that their words lose all real value.
@@HC_Labsyour name tripped me up for a second lol. I was like “Holy Moly! Another Halley’s Comet person”
You definitely have a point, however this video doesn’t concern itself with the creation of culture. It just highlights how postmodernism was a reactionary movement to modernism (the period of enlightenment that preceded it). In the modernist period, ca 1850-1950 culture was seen as a segregated element of the human experience. Modernists were all about neatly fitting things in different boxes hence why this separation existed. But you are correct to say that it wasn’t always there ;)
I'm not great fan of Polypya I mean they do nice stuff, and technically they are impressive, but meh, there is no build. And I don't say Bach Level stuff, but one can hear paco de lucia "entre dos aguas" and clearly see that there is a building, a development. IDK
Very cool recommendation! While we focus mostly on the music of the last five years I can definitely see why you like it. His lines are colorful, soulful and creative! Each musical style relies on different elements to excel. Some styles rely on grove, others on cohesive melodic development, and personality I believe virtuosity can be a legitimate tool as well
In short polyphia is boring
Great vid, I recommend the text "The work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction" (if you didn't read it already) you might like it by the point about the post visual media revolution in art :)
Will definitely check it out thanks!
@@TheMusingPanacea no problem, the text is by Walter Benjamin. Forgot to say that my bad lmao

This is really interesting for me, a music lover with very limited musical training or education. Insightful. Thanks!
Thank you! I’m glad you found it insightful
wow such a great commentary! I see so much of Billie in Chappell. Don't get me wrong: they're not the same type of artist, they don't make the same type of music, but they feel so wildly authentic in their own way and have the complete package (stage presence, vulnerability, memorable voices, authentic looks and an x factor of sort). It feels like both of them love and breath music and are attached to it on a very deep level. They go on stage and absolutely own it. It's like they were made to shine so bright up there. The first time that I saw Billie on stage gave me the same impression of when I saw Chappell: freedom. And as a girl and an LGBTQA+ person, freedom is a huge deal
Absolutely! In the modern music landscape a lot of brands feel manufactured. It’s nice to see that once in a while people lead their brands with honesty and self confidence.
At 1:27 I meant to say ‘life world’ not ‘human experience’ woops.
Deep stuff! Love the piano sensation of tension. Like deep inside my head… 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Chelo rules
hell yeah!
