I'm going on an adventure!! A whole week of adventures actually, so I decided that I need a whole wardrobe of medieval inspired clothing... starting with this reversible hood! I used a pattern from Handcrafted History to create this and it turned out perfectly - give it a go if you want one yourself! Finally it's time to see the whole Clara Oswin Oswald look come together!! I might have been on a crazy deadline to pull this whole thing together, but I loved working on this and adore how it turned out!
Sewing A Tiered Victorian Skirt - With Pockets! || Becoming Clara From Doctor Who (Part 4 of 5)

This deceptively simple skirt required way more maths than more poor brain felt capable of in the very short timeframe I had!! But I'm so happy with how it turned out, and it has the perfect amount of swoosh!
Getting The Shape Right With A Bustle! || Becoming Clara From Doctor Who (part 3 of 5)
Просмотров 3465 месяцев назад
It wouldn't be a Victorian look without some exaggeration of shape! In this case I only wanted a small bustle so I could still go on adventures through Time, Space and small windows!! And to smooth the lines of the bustle I of course needed a petticoat also.
Sewing a 1890's Victorian Corset || Becoming Clara From Doctor Who(Part 2 of 5)

Every proper Victorian lady needed a well fitting corset, and Governess Clara is very proper! When she's not out chasing a strange Doctor up spiral staircases into the sky or fighting creepy snowmen anyway!!

I LO🧡E IT!!!! Pintrest has AI generated flannel maxi skirts that look so pretty. Can’t find anything remotely similar IRL. Now on my way to sew my own.
Great tutorial! What an easy gift
Sooo good😊 👍
❤❤❤
This turned out so cute omg
That flaw in the fabric wouldn’t bother me either - as you say, adds character. 😄 Thank you sharing. 😊💝
Great job ...loved that you hand sewed so much of it awesome
Thank you! 😊
What did they call the thing they wore on their neck? It’s like a scarf
a cravat most likely, they're scarf-like neck ties that continued on in fashion into the 19th century as well
Awesome outfit and love the epic music for the reveal, also lovely location for filming the final product!
Thanks so much!! I had a whole lot of fun editing the reveal footage, even if it was a teeny bit overdramatic 😅😜
I'm so happy to see you posting more regularly and I really enjoy the content! They arrr so inspiring 😂
I'm so glad! Thank you for saying so, I'm really loving being back to making things 😊
The green of the bodice with the green in the skirt. :chefs kiss:
Thank you!! I didn't think the colours would match so well, but I'm so happy they did 😊
Great outfit! 👍🏻
Thank you! 😊
Love the bodice
Thank you!! I love it too 😊
So much better than an apron. I need a long sleeve one.
Right!? Oooh a long sleeve version would be great!
I didn't even know Gotland had events like this????? What??? I feel like I failed as a Swede haha But if you like these types of things, there's this thing done at Glimminge hus and Hovdala slott
Oooohhhh I will definitely check those places out, thank you! 😍
I love it! It turned out so well!! Seeing the little alterations and you explaining them was also very informative. ☺️
Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!! 😊
STITCH!!!! 😀😀 Seriously jelly of your cutting table 😍 Your outfit looks so good!!!! I hope you have a great time as Visby 🤩
Thank you so much!! My cutting table is definitely one of my favourite things in my sewing room!! 😂
I made this pattern for a civil war movie extra and it is the hardest project I’ve ever done. Thank you for the heads up about the lining and the mistake on the guide sheet-very helpful.
It is a deceptively tricky one hey! Glad I was helpful though 😊
Those side pieces are what people do to their rear ends nowadays lol. 😅
😂
I loveit
Thank you 😊
Loving!❤
Thank you!!
Success! ❤
😍
dress became amazing beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Interesting, i still have my Elna Super. I bought it back in 1970. I have no clue why yours stop.
That sounds like the clunk of a misaligned needle. Never used an Elna, but here's my contribution to the guessing game. (Zero criticism, because every one of these is something I've spent enough time repeatedly troubleshooting, that I actually remember it) Prior to this, one of these happened: - Had a thread that turned into a nest, because we forgot the hold onto the tails - again... everything got stuck, had to yank... Got it solved and kept going. But the needle got slightly bent. It may have worked well enough, for awhile. And gradually got worse. - Just barely hit a pin, which caused same as above If those definitely didn't happen: - changed the needle at the start of the project, (or after sewing a bunch of boning) but didn't get it tightened perfectly, and it worked it's way loose until it hit the plate My bet would be that replacing the needle with a new one would solve it. (Provided the replacement is installed correctly... *sigh*) And looking carefully at the needle that comes out, something isn't right. OR - Try removing and reattaching the same presser foot. It had become ever so slightly not in the position it should be. (Had the zipper been done prior to this, my first guess would be changing back after swapping to the zipper foot, the main foot was reinstalled 90% correctly, but not quite) Being too stressed and on a time crunch to really methodologically trouble shoot it when it feels like it isn't making any sense... absolutely understandable. I've never tried filming a video and managing all that while ALSO sewing on a time crunch. Here's hoping, if it hasn't already been sorted... that being rested, hydrated, and not on a deadline, will make it a simple and maddeningly simple solve.
Such a good machine!! Mine is 3 generations old and most of them time still going strong!
Turns out to be something to do with the bobbin timing! Not something I know how to fix, but now I know if it's none of the usual suspects, it could be that 😂
@@bronwynemma I had this happen with one of my singers. The casing around the bobbin gets dislodged and the whole mechanism jams like that.
There should be tutorials here on youtube on how to disassemble and put it back together correctly.
Reminds me of Belle's dress in the opening scene of Beauty and the Beast!
Oooh I love that dress!! 😍
The squirrels in the background!! 😂😂 Beautiful dress ❤
The squirrels were so cute!!! Feeling like a Disney Princess 🤪😍

Glad to help!! 😊
I love it. Skirts are such fun
How is this not viral?
i love clara oswald shes definitely one of my favourite companions ❤️❤️ you did an amazing job on the dress!
Thank you so much!! She's one of my favourites too, with so many fun outfits 😊
@@bronwynemma ❤️❤️
I'm about to start my own walking skirt & this was helpful! My pattern doesn't call for a lining or pockets but, after seeing this, they will be added. 😍
Something about this doesn't fit right. I never seen a woman wear this in my time
How did you do the underarm facing part, that's the bit that I can't seem to figure out 🙃 been stumped for
💀💀💀 colonial tomboy 💀💀💀
😂😂
Omg. What an adorable dress. You did a wonderful job.
Thank you so much! 😍
Impressive piece of sewing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!!!
Lovely.
I'm making this pattern, but I am missing piece 8 (I cut the pattern pieces a while ago and just got back to it) is there a place to get replacement pattern pieces or could you send me a scan of it?
Amazing!
Thanks! ☺️
Can you advise on the size pattern you used? I’m having trouble fitting these . I am 120 lbs, 34 c.
I used the size 6 from this pattern! Normally I’m a size 8, but that seemed a bit too big in this pattern, not sure about others of course! 😊
Amazing job! Looks stunning! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank youuuu!! 😍
I really enjoyed this series. Lovely outfit.
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it 😊
Absolutely yes please 🙏
That looks amazing! However, I cannot fathom wearing that many layers from my chin down! How did they do it every day? Maybe in the winter wasn't so bad, but how did they do it in the summer?
Right??!! Soo many layers! And I think the gents had a far easier time than the ladies with extra petticoats and all! I’m happy I just get to dress up in these outfits and not try live life in them! 🤣🤣
@@bronwynemmaI wish it was popularized again as a man 😔
Sooo many reason as to why you have such a opinion and why it's actually very comfy to wear period clothing. Alas it would be too long to explain here
So cool watching you figure out how to adjust the pattern to resemble Clara, looks fantastic, great job xx
Thanks so much!! I’m so happy with how the changes turned out 😊
Making one as soon as I get the pattern!
