Nic Clark Plays - The Martin CEO-7 - The Denver Folklore Center
Our good friend Nic Clark stopped by the store to play some of our favorite guitars, to help you get sense of what these incredible guitars sound like with Nic's incredible finger picked blues!
The CEO-7 is perhaps Martin's most consistently controversial guitar, mostly due to its almost Gibson like design, based off a mid 30's L-00 in the best way possible. We absolutely adore this guitar, both for its vintage feel and sound, and for its place in Martin's lineup as the redheaded stepchild in the best way possible.

NEW BANJO BRAND! Little Bird Mountain Banjos! - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 27314 дней назад
Made right near home in Colorado Springs, these mountain banjos are a brand new endeavor by Colorado builder Ken Ptaszek, made the old fashioned way, in a garage, with hand tools! With calfskin heads, padouk and Purple Heart/reclaimed oak neck construction, maple pots, and a whole lot of attitude, these Civil War era style banjos are true Colorado natives, and we're super excited to have them i...
Tiny and Terrific - Martin DJR-10 - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.21 день назад
In the exact opposite of last week, this Martin is extra small! But don't let that fool you into thinking these mini-Martins don't pack a heck of a punch, spoiler alert: they do. With all solid construction (spruce top, Sapele back and sides) and a just-over-¾-scale size, this guitar is surprisingly loud and vocal, making it one of our favorite guitars to play in the store. Oversized and OOOO-Mazing! Martin Custom 0000-12 String - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 400Месяц назад
With its oversized body and six extra strings, one would imagine this 12-String from America's oldest guitar builders to be nothing but loud and in your face. Well, it does have volume to spare, but this sunburst beauty has much more nuance than one would expect, with a great, full and responsive tone thanks to its 12-fret-to-the-body construction. Sometimes, Simpler Is Better! Martin Guitars 15 Series Overview - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 4102 месяца назад
With their rugged all mahogany construction, the 15 series from Martin is consistently one of their highest sellers, drawing direct inspiration from their 15 and 17 labeled guitars from the 1930's on. For the same reasons, i.e. reliability, sturdiness, and a dark, warm, almost cheeky tone, these all mahogany guitars have been a staple of Martin's lineup for years now. Visit our website to check...
2014 Martin Authentic 1937 D-28 - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 4402 месяца назад
From the early run of these guitars, people knew Martin had hit something special: an "as close as possible" run of guitars meant to directly evoke the famous and pearl-clutchingly expensive 30's and 40's guitars that revolutionized the world of vintage acoustic instruments, but made in a modern factory with modern techniques, for modern players. Successful since then, the original run of the t...
Amazing Collings 0001 - The Denver Folklore Center

Collings guitars, known worldwide for their quality of construction and tone, once again knock it out of the park with the 0001, a 12 Fret 000 sized guitar evocative of Norman Blake, and the 1920's and 30's Martins he plays. With Honduran mahogany back and sides, a sitka top, a 25,5" scale length (common in the 1930's before they shrunk the 0 guitars to 24.9"), and its 12 fret to the body const...

1936/7 Gibson L-12 - The Denver Folklore Center
Просмотров 1143 месяца назад
Introduced in 1930 as a fancier L-5, this Gibson L-12 certainly lives up to those expectations, with its upgraded Art Deco style inlays, tailpiece, and general vibe. At 17", this guitar is loud and, fascinatingly, was X braced, giving a super loud, deep sound that is unlike a lot of archtops. In near original condition, the replacements are the new Grover tuners, which sit in the place of the i...

Nicely done boys!
Love my Dr Junior!
How’s the action?
Good! They usually sit a little lower than your average Martin, somewhere around 3/64 treble and 4-5/64 bass.
GS mini-NO Big baby -N0 Martin wins Again and Again…Ya gettin it?
Certainly can't beat their heritage and history!
That sounds incredible
Right? I can never not pick one up when they come in! Thanks for watching!
Just FYI, the 00-15SM also has a 25.4 inch scale.
Yep! Misspoke. Good catch!
Nice demo! I prefer the standard- if I was going for sparkly- would go 000
Amazing playing man!
Diagonal decal, so already 100 years. :)
Great playing. Certainly looking at getting one. Maybe a touch nervous about them being made partially in China, but Eastman is great. How would you say the tone compare to the all American built ones? I haven't found a straight up comparison when it comes to the tone. They look the part, do they sound the part. That might make the price better or even a steal.
Ty
I wish I was American just for the folk instruments. We have some canadian brand, but no review anywhere...
One of the best Martins I’ve played is one of these. Adirondack top apparently. Beautiful playing.
Sweet!
I caught you knockin’ at my cellar door…
これ、めちゃかっこええですけど結構高いですもんね( ˙▿˙ )☝ 国内旅行だと3箇所位行けそうですし🌻🍉🌏
Great playing! I think I'd want to use some flat wound strings on that thing though...
Awesome tune! Such a well written song and executed masterfully.
What are the best strings for this guitar ?
Hi Christophe, while the best strings would be a matter of personal preference, we really like Martin Retro nickel-bronze strings for that authentic old-timey sound. That's what you're hearing in this video.
@@thedenverfolklorecenter Thank you so much for the advice !
I bought that banjo George! :D I didn't see this vid until after... Great stuff boys; excellent guitar work Summers!
Remember that this is not considered a parlor guitar. The 00 is a bit larger. But it does look parlor.
Why did you choose a Banjo song for demoing guitars?
The bridge on the first manolin seem to break the rule of lining up with the cutout in the body.
Uh oh! I parked my car in their lot while I ran into Game Stop… better run back out and move it! 😬
That is a Bluegrass beauty!
It's a radius armrest, not beveled. Beautiful guitar. Good video
Beveled just means cut, like a ‘beveled heel’ or beveled glasses. It’s beveled. It’s also ‘radius’, as Taylor calls it.
Too bad I cannot do wide necks or I'd get one...
Other great options at this price point! The Eastman E10OOSS is a very similar guitar with a normal 1 ¾ nut
John repaired a broken fifth string fret and adjusted the set-up on my Goldstar banjo...never sounded better, outstanding. Thank you!
The spruce especially.
Gorgeous axes. Well done.

Do you have to wear overalls to play one? 🤔
No, but it helps!
@@thedenverfolklorecenter explains where I’m going wrong 😂
I was told the strings will buzz less if you wear overalls, the instrument will behave better for you.
@@namelesswanderer9315 can’t argue with science…
Nice presentation! Those 1920s oval hole L-4s have a really nice sound. We carried one like that, also with a Virzi, last year.
What brand are those F styles?
I have a LG-2 from 1942 that Denver Folklore setup for me a couple years ago, and as much as I think nothing could beat that tone, the L-4 you have there sounds like a dream
Old Gibsons are hard to beat!
👍🏻
This is so dope!!!😊
😍😍😍
This is a vibe
Can I order a "speed Neck" (like a Deering Calico) instead of a thick neck?
Thanks for asking! Being more of an old-time banjo, Pisgah does not offer a speed neck as one of their custom options. Check out their website, www.pisgahbanjos.com, to see all their custom options.
You forgot the third type - bowl-back or Neapolitan!
"The red haired boy"!
Beauty ! Nice sounding.
Отправьте мне ее в Россию , сколько мне она обойдется ?
78 years old. Thanks! 🙂😎
Good looking out! That's why we're in the music business.
Sounds great
Gimme that😊
Hey it's Robert from Nashville. Enjoyed meeting you and trying out all the banjos you guys have! When I'm ready to purchase one I'll reach out! This was one of my favorites
This one I could listen to all day and night. Such a relaxing tone
Sounds beautiful
