Hi, finally got around to getting all four 47 inch monitors working under Windows 10. This is a follow on from my earlier video where I had three 47 inch monitors attached. Now the four run through a HDMI port 2 x mini display ports and a USB 3 display link adapter all to DVI.
Multi screen - three 47 inch HD 1080P LCD's attached to MSI GT72 2PE Dominator Pro notebook

My MSI GT72 notebook has Matrix multi-display capability which presents 3 1 monitors usage (Surround view). I picked up the HD 1080P Clarity (brand) LCD monitors at auction for $31 each. They have steel bezel's and weigh about 37Kg's each. Matrix display features up to 3 external displays with up to 4K resolutions, allowing you to output to 3 displays simultaneously using HDMI 1.4 and dual Mini...
Well i have this laptop and its not connecting to any external screen/monitor by all interfaces hdmi displayport type c can this be a hardware issue?
Joshua D Mugayi, could be but I would rule out a bunch of things before considering hardware issues. Make sure your cable and monitor work on another machine first, press the alt/function/monitor key combo to switch to alternate monitor or just connect up and see if you can see the new monitor in the settings/added devices then choose to duplicate the screen or span it. A bunch of solutions exist and might rectify this just by trial and error. I know have six large monitors attached and looking at adding another three - there's no limit once you get it working.
Thanks for replying...ok therez more... It seems the laptop detects the monitor in nvidia, windows & intel panels (showing monitor specs and all) but no signal is being sent back to screen (lg 25inch 2560x1080 21:9 Ultrawide Panel) the monitor and cables work very well on other machines (even on my 2010 hp pavilion) ....have tried alt/function/monitor, duplicate screen, updated drivers, switching between dedicated graphics to no avail. Any ideas?
Joshua D Mugayi I had a problem initially with the nvidea drivers. Check your version and see if there's problems with that version
I tried some old versions and also back rolling to drivers which were initially installed on manufacture but not any good news.
Joshua D Mugayi, sounds like you're working through all the things I tried before I was successfull. Try downloading a free or trial version of a multi-monitor admin tool. I remember that working until the drivers updated. It did take a while to diagnose my problems but is all now worth it - like I said I now have five 47 inch and one 60 inch monitor on the same laptop (6.5 metres of screen) and heading towards 10 monitors. You will see five setup in later RUclips videos.
what is your wallpaper please ?
That is so cool that a small laptop can do something so huge!
Stop. I can only get so erect.
When you cross the line from "a bit too much" to "freaking ridiculously unpractical". Great Job!!
Can you recommend a good dual mini displayport device? Finding one with any ratings right now on Amazon or Newegg is proving somewhat difficult
Can you use mini-displayport adapter> passive HDMI? Or needs to be active
Passive works, the video card handles the signal conversion. We have a GT72S-6something at the office and are using a very plain mini-DisplayPort to HDMI cable with the mini-DisplayPort output.
WOW😮😮😮😦
Hey! I have the same laptop ( i think) the anaversery addition but am trying to use the HDMI, mini display, and usb type c for 3 displays... will this work? I am having issues with the usb type c working. Thanks, Rob
Same here. Did you find a solution for using the USB Type C port? Trying to convert that to HDMI.
MagicHelmetTV I went for a usb3 to HDMI converter to get a forth 47 inch monitor connected. My laptop has one HDMI port and two mini display ports so can get 3 with them and when I went for the forth I had a choice of piggy backing the mini display port or usb3 so went the usb3 route. I believe with piggy backing I could have at least six of these monitors attached
did you use the USB Type C? I think our laptops are a little different, as my in has ports for HDMI, mini display, and USB Type C.
MagicHelmetTV yes slightly different. If you can't get type C to HDMI consider getting a mini display port adapter with a second connector so you can piggyback off the same connector
Will that just clone both screens or can I use extended displays? Thanks for your replies, btw
Hi Chris, A mini display port to DVI adapter (I'm guessing you're going to DVI?, if not then mini display port to VGA). A hdmi to DVI adapter then run the DVI cable to your monitor. Therefore you end up with two cables and adapters out of the back of your laptop. Other alternative if you have two extra monitors with HDMI in ports you could go HDMI from laptop to HDMI in on monitor and mini display port to HDMI adapter then HDMI cable from adapter to monitor. Also like I said some options exist for USB3 to DVI adapters.
Awesome!!! Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!!
Hi Chris, yes that is correct adapters are needed but yes this will work. Then either in Windows monitor setup or nvidia control panel select how you want all the monitors setup. Since this video I have added a fourth via USB3 to DVI AND I STILL HAVE ROOM FOR A fifth AND BRAGGING RIGHTS😀
+Stuart Coulson Thanks for the reply.... What adaptors would I need to hook them up? Thanks.
What cables are used for the other 2 monitor s
Michael Feist I'm using mini display port to DVI adapters therefore I am outputting to the DVI on my monitors and the other port is a HDMI to DVI adapter.
is this possible with my gtx 970m? since it support 4K display?
ZaidAlKalaldeh My laptop has one (1)HDMI 1.4 port and two (2) mini display ports that means I have three (3) ports I can connect to. If your device has three similar ports you should be able to do it.
yes i have the same as you! my laptop is gt60 2qd with 970m ;)
Yes all possible allowis you to output to 3 displays simultaneously using HDMI 1.4 and dual Mini Display-Port 1.2 On the back of the laptop
Stuart Coulson it's all possibru
Is this possible with MSI GT70 notebook?
can you show how the cables are layout out? is it one vga, one hdmi and one usb?
the GT72 have 2x Displayports and 1x HDMI outputs
