Chasing POTA on the Yeasu FT-710 Field on Christmas Eve Day!
Hello Don Happy 4th of July!!
Would this handle an alaskan arrow antenna? 73
@VE9ASN well I tried a 15 element 70cm yagi and it got stuck. Not sure of the weight difference but I'd be leary...
@w8cptCptDon did you have it centered, or use a counterweight of some sort, or was the majority of the weight far from center?
@VE9ASN yes centered the weight...
Does the radio apply the Doppler automatically? Thanks
Yes with the custom firmware from OPENGD77
I struggled for weeks trying to confirm SAT QSOs on QRZ. Now I realize it just doesn't support cross band confirmation.
Hello, have you tested wifi with look4sat? you have recovered your card in repair! Have you tested transmission with HF power? THANKS😊
No I haven't I believe you need another circuit board ordered separately for wifi
For those having the time and inclination, you can get a ham operators license. Study on-line free. sample tests. Contact local ham organization. Local study and test administration $10. Radio: many models under $100. This is not an ad. You don't have to learn Morse code. In case of an EMP, this may be the only form of communication.
How did you do that radio mount for the arrow?
SEARCH arrow antenna 3D mount. There's 3d files you can print
What are the freqs? I have seen a variety of different uplink and down link.
You can search that on Google. 437.800 is the receive frequency... you don't need anything to listen but need a ham radio license to transmit...
Only satellite contact I've made was while mobile with a mag mount. 😅 never made one with my Arrow antenna. 😆
That's gotta be fun.
I basically tripped onto a 85° pass over Bucharest, only had a rubber duckie antenna that came with the radio. The signal variation over time was insane.
I kick ass on that pass
Great job!
There's no such things of international space station is all lies. You've been brainwash.
what a mess. Everyone is talking. Few are listening
I was glad to catch the end of your livestream, just went and watched the whole thing. I am running a vertical, so it was good to hear that nugget of info about verticals. I'm using a kenwood tm-v71 at 50w with a comet gp-9 about 25' off the valley floor surrounded by mtns. I'm hoping to catch the next pass tonight but it might be out of my reach. 73's!
You are right Don I was blasting in
Hey Don.. don't know if this is a lot of extra work.. but a suggestion.. maybe put timestamps in your video description of who you made contacts with and people can skip to hear themselves.
I can look into how to do that...good idea but I have to figure out how!
I love my Retevis RT3S!
Wow, KD9VGV was on it.
Great job on the pass Don! I heard you in there several times but the pileup to get in was fierce. 73!
I heard you too but it was busy!
Would be interesting to see PCB in details. Particularly location of the JY901S module as it is present on schematic.
Your appatite for result is incredible
24:48 you talked to me.. KQ4ROM. Then you rejected my request to confirm the contact on qrz stating you didn't have me in your log. 🤷
Did you have to antenna your house or is there a more modern way with more modern equipment. Thank you

On my bucket list
I have just discovered the Antrunner and wondered if you could answer some questions for me. Firstly does it come with a controller to position the rotator for each satellite pass or is that a separate item and secondly if it does come with a controller is there a wifi connection between the PC and the rotator or does it need to be hardwired? Another question, is the Antrunner's suitability for outdoor use as there appears to be no attempt to waterproof any of its parts from the weather? Is it OK for permanent outdoor use?? I was initially looking at the SARCTRAC system which looked really good only to hear that it is no longer in production sadly. Cheers Ian VK5AIB
You have to hard wire it to a PC and use Gpredict. They do sell a wireless module but the seller told me it doesn't work well and they recommend hard wired...and it's definitely not something you leave outside the Circuit Board and motors are exposed.
Well done! Could you actually see the little dot in the sky? Cheers.
Thanks! No I used the ISS detector app on my phone so I knew where to point it ahead of time...
That was option number 2, LOL, thank you, 73!

I managed to receive both images using an FT65 and a tape measure yagi. Receiving the certificate from NASA was mind-blowing 73 de NM9X
That's the same shirt you're wearing yesterday.
It's still yesterday the 17th now UTC is the 18th and a new day
Hi, I heard you (W8CPT EN82) calling several times on the ISS (1:25 am) even with the ISS far from me on the ocean. 73
Cool thanks!
That was me at the 5:55 mark
I made the contact from the car @ 20 watts
Good Job!
Thanks for the QSO! It got pretty busy at the end.
Ditto! Are you logging on QRZ and LOTW (when it works again) or waiting til you get home? On QRZ you can log only the TX frequency and still send it to LOTW and it confirms I found out! Have fun at HamVention wish I could make it!
@@w8cptCptDon I upload to LOTW and then sync that over to QRZ. When LOTW is back up I submit all my logs.
What HT are you using?
TYT UV-390 Plus GPS with OPENGD77 Firmware loaded on it
It’s not Eastern Standard Time! Eastern Daylight Time!
LOL
Thanks for the contact! It was a quiet night.
Yes it was! Thanks for the contact!
Hi. I have the same rig. What's the value on the left upper corner when you transmit 100W? I'm thinking about PO (Power) meter. I noticed that the needle was only slightly above 50W.
Eastern Daylight time, not Standard Time.
Thanks for uploading. I wanted to watch the whole thing. 73
Dude, don't you ever sleep?
I slept like 6am to 1230pm I'm retired I can sleep whenever I feel like it!
I'm glad you fixed that stupid collar! LOL
Great video, I also have made contacts with the ISS repeater, lots of fun. KN6BZG
Thanks for sharing! 73 DE W4LDS
There was a lot of enthusiasm in our local ham community during SSTV events. Even those who were not on regular LEO satellite operations also particpated using their VHF radio and Robot36 app on the mobile phone. It was a wonderful experience to see the image shaping up from the buzzing noise!
Where's your rotor Captain Don?
In the garage I was being lazy lol
Like the title
Great, how did you activate it? I have v5 and I don't know how to do it, it never locates GPS
