i’ve done this ! 😂 bikepacked 8 miles and my sleeping set up was not working out so i biked back to my car and slept in it instead lol

You should always check the weather before going on a backpacking trip to make sure you were adequately prepared. That being said, you were only three miles in, I'm sure a little rain would've been fine and not a situation where you needed to leave immediately. Part of camping is dealing with nature and the weather

A camp site like that is the best place for your friend to experience bad weather. Should have stayed.
