    You guys seem pretty handy. Curious why you didn't just do the whole enclosure yourself instead of using Carl's Place. You coulda saved a lot of money.

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing
      @WeShouldBeGolfing 7 дней назад

      Great question! We are certainly very handy but also value our time and quality components. We probably could have pieced something together, but the folks @carlsplace have enclosures down to a science, and the quality of the material is just something I struggle to believe we would have been able to replicate without taking shortcuts. One of the best examples is the black fabric around the enclosure. We could have replicated that, but it would have involved cutting the fabric to fit and sewing the velcro to both sides to replicate the perfect wrap around the front pipe. We wouldn't have had access to a sewing machine to do that, and if we had used adhesive-backed velcro- it wouldn't have withstood the type of stretch needed to keep the fabric tight. Other methods could have been applied but wouldn't have looked as finished. The screen is also super-premium; cutting that and sewing the high-quality grommets on to secure the bungee loops would have been a pain, if not impossible I like to think of us as DIY'ers who appreciate the engineering already having been done for us. I am about to put a stereo system in my car, and I paid extra for someone to send me a complete plug-and-play harness, so all I have to do is disassemble my dash, run the wires, and mount the amp/speakers. Could I have sodered the connections and saved $90-150? Yes, and I've done it before. But the 3-5 hours that it would take me to do all of that is more valuable than the extra money to have it done by a pro who does it daily. Gives me the time back to edit videos for the channel, play a round of golf, or anything else really. But I do save the $5-800 that it would have cost me to have my local car audio shop install the entire system. The middle ground is great! Thanks for watching and coming to my TED Talk 😂; let us know if you tackle your own creation! One of my favorite parts of sim builds is watching how everyone decides to put theirs together. Absolutely no wrong or right way to do it!

    • @MetalGear69
      @MetalGear69 6 дней назад

      @@WeShouldBeGolfing I get that. I still feel like it could have been done in other ways without sewing anything and still feel equally as premium when you are using it. It's just there are hundreds of videos on RUclips showing how to build a Carl's place enclosure, and only really one video that shows how to build an actual DIY enclosure. But that's our problem, not yours. And Carl's Place still just looks so overpriced to me for what it is. But EVERYONE seems to be using them, so it they are able to inflate the price.

    Do you have any issues with the putting mat/enclosure shifting at all on your garage floor when you are swinging? I built my own enclosure (using the piping as you did) but am debating copying how you did your floor tiles, putting mat, and swing strip if you say it does not shift at all throughout swinging. I think it may be due to a mix of how you have your floor tiles extending to underneath your enclosure and the immense amount of carpet tape you used.

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing
      @WeShouldBeGolfing 10 дней назад

      With 100% certainty, I can tell you the turf structure does not shift. Our enclosure has crept forward about half an inch several times, which we attribute to gravity and the basic slope of our garage floor to allow for drainage when the concrete pad was poured. We could combat this by installing a strap to secure the enclosure, orrrr we could push it back once every few weeks (which is exactly what we do). Thanks for watching and being a subscriber!!!

  • @jpstoehner
    @jpstoehner 11 дней назад

    New subscriber….great video! Just getting started on my sim room. Curious what your deciding factors were in going with the BLP vs a few others in that similar $ range and would you make that same choice knowing what you know now?

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing
      @WeShouldBeGolfing 11 дней назад

      Thanks for watching!! We went with the BLP because we were drawn to the foresight software off the bat. We've watched channels like TXG (Now Club Champion) test clubs and run challenges on that software for years, and it was appealing to us to have it at home. After months of use, I rarely use any software outside of GSPRO- unless I focus on swing changes or club data, usually a few times a month. That being said, it was very close between BLP and Uneekor Eye Mini. I love what Uneekor is doing, and we would love to upgrade someday in the future to one of their ceiling-mounted units (We have a left-handed friend, making the flexibility of a ceiling mount appealing). My advice would be to go with the unit that costs less from a monthly/yearly standpoint if you plan to use GSPRO, as the alternative software won't generally be used by most on a regular basis. Let us know what you end up doing!

    was wondering about you conduit that you used for the height, it seems a 10’ stick would not need the middle connection piece, did you not by conduit in 10’ lengths? looking to do my own build, thanks for any advice.

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing
      @WeShouldBeGolfing 13 дней назад

      The carl's kit actually has you cut two lengths to make it more structuraly sound. I bet the therory is that one long stick will have more of a tendency to move/sway than two smaller sticks cut to length. We bought ours in 8 foot lengths off the top of my head and cut them according to the specs Carls provided specific to our enclosure, and it worked perfectly. Would love to see your sim when it's done and if you have any other questions, feel free to DM us on IG @wsbgolf or comment back here and we will do what we can! If you do pull the trigger on a Carl's Kit, make sure to use the link in our bio- it helps the channel! Thanks for watching!

      Not sure if you are asking about the surrounding turf or the hitting strip, but I’ll give you a breakdown of both- Surrounding turf- this was the best combo of price and quality we found. When we were planning our build, we knew the total thickness of the MSI turf and the foam underlayment would match the hitting strip perfectly- so it was a good decision Hitting strip: we wanted to get some feedback on obnoxiously fat shots, and ours did the trick. EZ Tee is used in lots of commercial applications and we knew it would hold up. Certainly pros and cons to all the options, and I’m sure you could find higher quality or a better name brand on the surrounding turf, but we wanted to find a good middle ground and needed it to match up height wise which it did. Thanks for watching!

    Hi , great video. My planned sim space is in the back bay in my garage. When assembling the enclosure I will have only have a 3" gap from each side frame to each side wall. I have no extra space to get past the side walls and get behind the screen , so all assembly will need to be done without the ability to get behind the screen. Looks like you did a great job of only using your hands and arms to attach the bungees and zip cords on the top and sides without standing behind the screen. Was that difficult to do and any recommendations about my situation from an ease of assembly perspective. Much appreciate any feedback and keep up the great work.

      It sounds like it's going to be difficult but not impossible. You'll probably need an extra person to push it back evenly without hitting the wall. I would build the screen and enclosure in the center of the room so I had access to both sides (Assuming you have a door on either side) and use the door to walk around it. DM me on IG @jakesgotkeys and we can chat, sometimes it is easier if I can see your space and make recommendations that way

      @@WeShouldBeGolfing Hi Jake - I agree and will build the enclosure/screen in a different part of the garage where I have more space and walk it in to the final location when done. I have a crossbeam that complicated the design but found a way around it. Cheers for the advice.

    Interesting video and I'm currently considering this projector. Do you know if you can adjust the aspect ratio in the graphics card to 1:1 for an 8ft x 8ft screen without distortion, or would I need a golf specific projector like the LH600st or AH700ST, which have screen fill? Unfortunately though they are not 4K.

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing
      @WeShouldBeGolfing 3 месяца назад

      We were able to adjust the ratio for our graphics card, but it wasn't 1:1... BenQ customer support has been very solid for us on questions so I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them. The projector has been fantastic thus far!

    • @WeShouldBeGolfing

      We are 8-10ish feet away at any given time. No safety issues with bounce back, although we have had a few topped wood shots that rolled up the screen and came back. That is more on us than anything, and we've since adjusted the safety baffle from Carl's and it hasn't happened since. Thanks for watching, hope we earned your subscription! ⛳

      We are definitely seeing some wear in our standing zone, but nothing insanely bad. Keep in mind, we are power users (Allen and I hit over 5k shots in July alone) so that won't happen as quickly for everyone else. We are planning on doing a 90 day review video, and part of that will be showing you guys the tweaks we make to our set up to address it!
