I love your analysis of some of Ginastera’s works! I never knew that his signature chord structure and rhythm represented guitar strumming. I may have to relearn Piano Sonata No. 1 after watching this. I found a recording of you playing Ruvido Ed Ostinato over thirteen years ago, and to this date it’s the only recording I’ve come across that contains no mistakes.

Amazing work you do Barbara sharing your passion. How much I concur on the fact that Prokofiev is such a genius and how profoundly incandescent his music is. Despite only in the beginning steps of my Prokofiev journey, all three war sonatas are simply masterpieces and how not to strongly recommend nr 6 even though 7 is more often played... his second and third piano concertos are also full of an immense joy. When one thinks that he composed the second one when he was only 19, one can only feel soooooo humbled ! I cannot help, even when watching them played in concert on RUclips, standing up to applaud when it ends ! Thank you again, this is so good for all hearts, young and old !

Seeing you perform here and other recordings of you sharing your knowledge on Prokofiev's work is really touching. Seems to really be a composer you identify with, and being a Prokofiev lover myself, it feels like a found someone who understands me. :) I started practicing the piano about 10 years ago, and a few weeks into it I was waiting for my lesson and heard my teacher practicing Prokofiev's 5th sonata for his recital. I've been listening to Prokofiev virtually every day since then ^^. I have an idea of what I like the most, which I think is the duality of the clockwork mechanical pace with the often heart-wrenching/painful lyricism of his melodies, but there is also this mysterious aura (maybe from the dissonances and the voicing of melodies) which I find intoxicating/hard to escape from. Thank you so much for sharing this new fantastic recording! I appreciate your work!

This piece sounds like a drunken wind up top. Much of his music seems halfway between atonal and conventional romantic harmony. Like one foot in the 19th century and one in the 20th. My favorite of the war sonatas is #8. So melancholy at the beginning and celebratory at the end, with that off beat march. He often brings back melodies from the first movement to the third. My wife and I love his ballets. Regards
