0000 Steel wool is very "fine". [It's what one uses (let's say) to remove a rusted spot. Allot of heavy oil and gentle attention will preserve whatever finish remains below that spot.] It would polish the piece without gouging. Clean and re-oil the part to remove residue from the work and you're good.

@@schrodingersgat4344 Yep. It's what I use to de-rust barrels and other rusty parts without removing too much original finish before rebluing with cold blue. You'll be amazed at the A5 full restoration video when I get done with it in a day or so...been working weeks on this CZ video (composed/recorded the music score exclusively for the video)

Yep, huge thanks to SDI for teaching me how to figure out a different build when the only available help is the schematic diagram...especially when the diagram doesn't even have all the pieces for this particular model. lol

Yeah it was cloudy here too. Got lucky enough to see most of it through the thin overcast. I bet the clouds looked really cool there during totality. I was blown away at how pretty it was, like a 360 degree sunset.

Thanks! I was originally disappointed at the lack of focus and the long space in the middle with no sun at all, but after some thinking I decided to see what it would do sped up 10,000x and laughed my ass off at it. lol

@@paulis7319 Not that far from my experience, then. I'm out of the path of totality and trying to use the lens out of a welders mask. Whole thing went to hell. [The B-roll video of the mountains worked out better.] I'll hop on the (editing) struggle bus in the morning and try to salvage my video.

@@schrodingersgat4344 That's what I was gonna use (welding lens) but went with the ISO 12123.2 glasses instead. It focused on the sun during setup with no clouds, but a small overcast rolled in just before I started recording and I didn't notice. In saw the partial eclipse in 2017 while I was traveling through Panama City, FL. It was quite an experience!

It only caught my attention cause it shoots the .410 shotgun shell, and the .410 is the first shotgun I ever shot and deer hunted with...in first grade. Haven't shot a 410 since, till now. To shoot it out of a pistol is a really weird experience.I'm sure a 12 gauge revolver could be handled. The Judge kicked less than the GX4. 🤣

Nice! Yeah I saw that new course. I'm thinking about going back to finish and take that course, but definitely gonna open shop first. My cousin liked how I reblued one of his barrels so now he's having me clean his entire collection (very large), with a restoration or two in the process, just to help me learn (looking up in depth info on each gun, even the 1903 and 1917 Mausers). He's also an elected judge so he'll have plenty of contacts once I get licensed and running.
