Helmet Cam View from 992 Turbo S - Mid-Ohio Club Course
Anthony Magagnoli driving a 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S at Mid-Ohio on the Club Course. I was commissioned by Spark Racing to test the car and provide data that would be used to develop a simulator model of the car for its owner. This video was my first push lap of a 1:33.9, as the VBOX didn't record the 1:33.3 that I turned in the next session. This video is intended to show the first trial of the Cambox V4 Pro. It was recording in 1080 at 30fps with no other adjustments. It's also capable of 4k @ 30fps and 1080 @ 60fps.

How much horsepower did the guards red add?

More fun than all drugs combined kids trust me haha
Nice! That thing looks pointy...
Nice laps, Anthony. I prefer your line into the bus stop over mine, something I need to work on. Which Nankang tires were you running in the first part of the vid?
I believe it was these www.tirerack.com/tires/nankang-sportnex-cr-s
@@drivefasternow9071 Thanks, I've heard positive things about these 200 TW street tires
Boing! 😁
Good luck Anthony! Hope to see some race footage posted in the next few weeks.
Where the camber plates necessary to get it back in alignment?
is this a PPG transmission?
I'm here from the TST.
What's the TST?
@@drivefasternow9071 The Smoking Tire one take were the guy had a red 128i with similar mods. The link to this video was in the comment section.
Did you have to get wider wheels and modify the fender wells to get those 225 tires in there?
They're 7.5" wheels, but more wheel and tire will fit. No modification needed.
@@drivefasternow9071 what would you say is the widest wheel tire combo we could go with without modification. Asking because I have a blue 08 with the 6MT. My goal is to do wider squared off tire set up.
@@drivefasternow9071 and thank you for the reply
@jeremywatson9129 I'd shoot for a 245/40/17 on a 17x9" rim. Apex wheels has some good fitment guides to confirm the offset.
@@drivefasternow9071 awesome man, thanks for the info.
Curious to know what engine oil do you use..
Schaeffer Oil
Like everyone else is out for a Sunday drive. Mo said you kicked butt and he wasn't exaggerating!
How do you get into the track? Entering the parking lot, it’s a building that looks closed and just a long road besides the track, but I don’t wanna enter the track if that’s an enterance
You have to cross the track between sessions to get into the infield where the parking is.
Ok so what is a GT350TR? I assume something you have created with your different updates (MKIII to MKIV). I like the transmission, much more effective for the Voodoo. How much does it weigh empty, dry, with driver...whatever you know.
TR = Track Ready. It's the 5.2 Motorsports spec. 3601 race weight (end of race with driver and remaining fuel). We can be a little lighter, but it's advantageous to be at 3601 for a power to weight modifier.
@@drivefasternow9071 looks like a hoot!
The best video I've seen at Grattan cause I can watch when and how much he's braking into the corners. Awesome!

Best track in Michigan!
Was the tire stock 275 in back 245 in front Goodyear tire and brake fluid dote 3
Yes, as far as I'm aware. The tires were the stock run-flats. Whatever size that was.
Heading to this track for the first time later this year, I'll call you before I go Anthony.
I love this track - love the line that you took. I am not skilled enough to have that much horsepower available to me - but it is fun to watch. My best laps are like 1:58 :)
Nice lap, nearly matches my very best lap at Grattan, I love this track, can't wait this summer, (2023), if this stuff is still legal, I understand our government is working at making all of this kind of activity illegal, motocross everything.
UPDATE: As of November 25, 2022, I sold the red Fiero. I'm on the hunt for another pristine '88 GT 5-speed. This time with the Beachwood (beige) interior!
Sunset rip, nice!
Great driving! Care to share your thoughts on why you chose not to grab 2nd gear at the end of the front straight, at Oak Tree, and at the end of the back straight? Also, why are you going into 4th before hog pen instead of afterwards? I've seen those things done before in a GT350 that ran a 2:00 flat. Clearly you didn't need to do those to run a 1:57 but I'm curious on your thoughts and opinion about doing those things vs not doing them.
Running at the limit, I'm already traction limited in 3rd (so I wouldn't get to full throttle in 2nd until later, if at all) and the additional shift would not be worth the time lost not accelerating, if that point was actually even beyond the track out point. For Hogpen, I'm floating speed in and 3rd would probably cause me to over slow, but I'd also need to shift before track out, which would upset the balance of the car. If you are not sure which gear to use, opt for the higher one so you will feel the penalty of over-slowing and train yourself to carry speed. Once you've mastered it, then consider again if you can do any better with the lower gear.
Notice the short-shift coming out of T5, as well. I have to lift to turn in to 5b anyway, so it makes sense to combine the shift there.
@@drivefasternow9071 Thanks for all of the info and tip about opting to use a higher gear. I'll be at VIR in a few weeks and I'll keep that in mind. Appreciate it!
I've had 2 87gts and just recently owned a 85 se.unfortunetly some guy ran a stop and totaled it so for the first time in my driving life I don't have a fiero.definetly getting another it will be an 88 gt like I always wanted 5 speed t-tops would be nice too!
I have a red on grey 88 GT 5-spd t-top with 23k miles that I'd sell! LMK if you're interested.
@@drivefasternow9071 how much? With such low miles I'd be scared to drive it and you probably want a nice chunk of change!
$21,500. No reason to be scared to drive it, though! I drive it occasionally, just not putting useless highway miles on it. It's all about smiles per gallon!
@@drivefasternow9071 I'm sure it's in immaculate shape but I'm looking for something maybe around ten thousand maybe two or three times the mileage
*Excellent* race driving! Every time I watch a GT350 track video I’m reminded of how much I miss mine, and of how much fun it was to drive. Some day I’ll have one again (except that it’ll be the R version)… Anyways, I hope you still have this beast and that you’re still driving her how she was meant to be driven!
Sick Drive Anthony. I actually bought this car from Luke end of last year. Not even close to your time though lol.
Awesome. Thx for sharing. 👍🏽👍🏽
Hey quick question…. If it says “open to all cars” on the website schedule can I just show up and drive?
You need to register with the organization that's running the track event. There should be a contact on the site if you have any questions. Your car should have at least minimum track prep, as well. Track brake pads and fluid and summer tires.
@@drivefasternow9071 ok thanks. I’m working on my car now that it’s finally warm and would love to do a track day so I’m looking forward to it.
Yeah I feel for this guy! I’m kinda searching for one right now! I too am looking for a’88 gt 5spd with decent mileage on it but don’t want to spend more than 14g’s! They r so cool looking even today!! Just want to get in drive and listen to 80’s retro wave!!
This was great to prep me for my first time out there! Going to be chasing sub-1:30's next time
Good stuff! What oil do you guys prefer for track days ?
There are no shortage of options out there, but we use Schaeffer's.
Plan on going to my first open track day at Grattan this year, thank you so much for this
Can’t believe the comment section. Great vid great car. Great driving. Would like to read a mod list, gt350 owner
In my long life I have had a lot of 2 seaters , Porsche , vets , every piece of British junk with a badge ( no supercars) the v6 fiero with 4 spd man is the best handling car I ever driven. The car was a masterpiece of design and a a travesty of production. I have never owned a G.M. Product that wasn’t terribly built and attracted too mechanics
While the drive may looks spectacular, the driver is not using the full power or the torque of the engine fully. Max. torque of this engine is 429 lb-ft @ 4,750, and the power is 526 hp @ 7,500. Several times, the driver lets the engine revs drop below 4,750 rpm's, and all that does is it ultimately slows you down. To be at the peak torque or power, you need to use the gearbox by dropping to a lower gear so that the engine is ALWAYS at its peak. That's what the gearbox is for! Back to driving school!
Please tell me all your secrets!
The reality is that shifting takes time, so it's not always worth dropping a gear. Secondly, you can't always use all the available power if you're carrying lateral load (turning). So, having additional power available may simply be wasted if you can't utilize it, then you lose time by adding in the upshift.
@@drivefasternow9071 try it the way I'm suggesting, and see what lap times you get. I would wager you, you'd be faster.
@@apscoradiales thank you for your input.
how much does it take to build up one of these cars?
We could build you one for $150-200k, depending on your spec. The last customer build we did, which was similar to the one we run, was about $180k.
I got a 88 Fiero GT myself. Found it with 55k miles all options fantastic shape (not a single rip or stain on the seats.) I was gonna ask what suspension mods you got but having seen them. I guess I’m good. Poly bushings for the entire suspension, transaxle & motor. Ball and socket end links front & rear and a West Coast Fiero Ultimate sway bar on the front. I want to put coil-overs on it but the only one ive found is JVR Drive coil-overs. Taiwan based for $1,149. If those don’t work then air-suspension it is.
The car handled shockingly well on the TFS lowering springs with Koni adjustable dampers and AADCO swaybars. None of those parts are available anymore, so I pulled it all off the black car after the wreck and it will go the red car if I keep it long term, or another '88 GT if I get one, or get sold back into the community as a package.
If you get a chance you have to try a set of Rodney Dickman’s “zero-lash” end links. For a $100 it’s the single greatest handling mod I’ve put on the car. The best way to describe what they do is they allow your stock bars to finally work as intended. The bars load up gradually and from the steering wheel it feels like you have power steering in a turn but with none of the drawbacks. (You still feel the road) Hopefully they work on your addco bars too. The next best mod was my set of Enkei RPF1’s. 28 pounds of un-sprung mass taken off my wheels did wonders!
Awesome!! thank you for sharing your story, your love for the Fiero and your connection. I love hearing about car people who appreciate their cars.
I liked them a bunch! Not sure how they ran, but I think with a little work on the drivetrain it could be a screamer!
So awesome
Emotional Fiero!
Excellent patience with the traffic. Looking good!
Oh, how I miss my ‘86 base model. Had the Iron Duke with a lot of mods that my uncle invented himself. 5spd manual, balloon tires. I’m 6’4” and fit perfectly fine. Never touched a manual transmission in my life, but my dad dropped me off and drove away in his car, so I had to learn on the spot. Tight racing clutch that was engaged instantly. No one could drive it without stalling except my dad and me, but it shifted so smoothly that people don’t even know that I was driving a sick. I even drove it year-round in Minnesota winters! I drifted that thing around every corner and turn every time. I was way too young to own something like that. I sold it, and minutes later the kid who bought it saw a Ferrari, raced him down an on-ramp, blew the engine, and that was the end of it. Memories. Sigh.
love the video! I’m gonna get a fiero as my first car I’ve been working so hard and I’m half way there!
I'm trying to sell mine what do you think a good price would be. It's a 87 gt with v6 and 5 speed getrag manual trans with 38 thousand miles runs and drives nice. Great condition
Sounds nice. The 88's are in their own stratosphere. Not sure on an 87. Maybe $8k?
Nice video! I agree, the Fiero is a lot of fun and brings people together. I have made a lot of great friends due to the Fiero.
Great race. Great video.
