Caged is an energetic, rhapsodic journey geared toward carrying the listener through a range of emotions. As with much of my work, I sought to pair the barba...

This is sick! I feel educated/inspired from this, but also enjoyed as stand alone music 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Wonderful piece my friend - irony, melody, great sense of form, and always interesting and attractive ideas/textures.

4:40 Britten ??!!
Beautiful music <3
Thank you for creating and sharing this magnificent work. Do you like Bartok, Szymanowski, or Villa-Lobos? This work belongs in the canon of great string quartets.
Amazing work! Thank you for sharing your beautiful creation🎶
WOW WHAT A PIECE!!! I didn't know string quartet could sound like this
Can't imagine how to compose this!
Wow……..
This should quickly become part of every major quartet’s repertoire. Simply a brilliant new piece.
An absolute headbanger!! Incredible music and performance!
Great composition! Congratulations 🎉
You should write for saxophone quartet! I know your music would sound amazing adapted for it.
@manyadas8761 Appreciate you! ❤️ I actually do have a sax quartet…really funkadelic little piece! Just have to get it recorded! 😭
Bartok called. He wants his quartet back.
Talked to him already…he told me to keep being me 😉
This is FUN to listen to. Well done
Really like when the triplet rhythms start showing up after the adagio section.
Where can I purchase the manuscript to play with my quartet?
Thanks so much for your interest in the work! ❤️ The consortium of performances are running through 2025, but I can definitely let you know when the piece is released!
Nice piece! And bravo Poiesis
This is fantastic. Wonderful play of colors and textures, with something missing from so much contemporary music: a satisfyingly driven and organic sense of pulse and rhythm. Calls to mind the Bartok quartets.
this string quartet is awesome!!! such a tasteful balance of tonality/atonality
Incredible music!!!
Wonderful! What a range of colors, mood and expression while beautiful at the same time.
0:04 I thought I was hearing human voices saying "hmmm"
Bro makes shosty sound tonal
In a good way tho
Shostakovich is usually tonal
I like this piece. My favorite part was at 9:20 where it does something similar to the section at 4:52, but this time escalates into an exciting coda! I like the importance of the triplets and sextuplets in the piece. Also the unison at 11:13 with each instrument playing the same note was another exciting moment.
Amazing work
Nice!
this is great!!!
This feels like seeing a new color.
Wow, awesome
This is a pretty cool piece, it reminds me about Berg. Actually, it might be the best contemporary string quartet I have heard in years. Congrats for the achievement! This is one of the pieces you will feel proud about the rest of your life.
What a discovery!!! I love it!!! ❤
Impeccable writing! and such a great performance
this is so beautiful wow. one of my favorite compositions i've heard in a while
wow! I love it! 🙏
Amazing piece!!! Fantastic string writing
Christian-Yves
I just heart the brilliant, young cellist, Sterling Elliott and pianist Wynona Wang perform this amazing sonata at Merkin Hall, Kaufman Music Center, New York City. I've become an instant fan of the composer and the cellist.
I’m so honored to have performed and premiered this piece. Such a powerful message behind notes and rhythms which is what music is about essentially. Brian thank you for your gift of music.
I am so glad I found this! Your sonata is incredibly inventive and lyrical with such rich harmonies; it drew me in right away. Love "J" - exquisite, rhapsodic, cuts right to the heart. Third movement is a great mix of playfulness and mystery with bursts of musical freedom. Great looking score, too! Thank you for composing this piece, Brian. I will definitely be listening more. Bravo to you and the performers! And hope you enjoyed your summer fellowship at Tanglewood. Cheers!
