Working her @$$ off the entire semester (while pregnant), only to throw all that away over the last assignment and have to do it all over again next year? Most of these are not excuses. An excuse is something that is an invalid reason or a lie for not doing something. Example one, I didn’t do my homework because I wanted to watch tv. Example two, my dog ate my homework, while at the same time not owning a dog.

My drummer didn't show up to rehearsal because he attended a hypnotist's performance, accidentally got hypnotized, and couldn't leave when the show ended. After the show, the hypnotist had to go around the room and un-hypnotize several audience members. Said it happens at every show.

The worst one I've witnessed by far was my friend explaining why she missed a class for a very particular teacher: I didnt have the patience for you that day (it sounded far worse in our language.. the teacher was an a**hole, but still.. Suspended for a month and was denied attendance credits

As an excuse, I told my teacher that a relative had died. While that was true, that relative had died 23 years ago.

I think what we've learned from this is professors don't remember bad lies. They remember genuine reasons to not attend that are extremely unusual.

Read the title and I had to click to give the best excuse I’ve ever received. “I missed the final because I went to watch the execution of the woman who killed my husband”. I stood their mouth agape not knowing what to say. I finally managed and ok and offered a make up time. I spent the next half hour googling and yep. Her husband was brutally murdered, and she watched the woman who did it be executed.

My classmate had a dentist appointment five times that week.

I hate going to my professors for excuse but I had no choice because my life is a wreck one time I told my professor I couldn’t finish my paper because I had no internet at home because I just moved and I can’t drive so that’s why I can’t stay at the school because they close after everyone is finished with classes and he said I can’t do anything for u because it’s no fair for anyone else in the class 😭like what then why should I get punished for something that’s not in my control btw my assignments are online but the assignment was a paper but we had to do research for it

One of my roommates couldn't be in class because she was driving our other roommate to the hospital after she was hit by a car. The roommate who drove emailed her professor from the hospital, but the professor still penalized her for missing a class.
