Lived on Van Duzer while attending Richmond College in St. George right by the ferry.
I haven't been on Manor rd since the 80s but I remember there were bats at night sometimes. As a kid I thought it was the coolest thing lol

This is my home vacationland where I have made memories from going down to the beach to watching jackman ME national 4th of July fireworks Jackman Maine is so pretty I would definitely recommending going there
Straight out of my mind . . . like from a dream . . . I was born (1971) and raised on Staten Island, and lived at 1125 Victory Blvd from '91 - 95. All the bus stops I used to stand on . . . and when I wanted to save 75 cents to a $1.50, I would walk . . . this entire street . . . one cold night, after my shift at Millard Fillmore's (it's a DMV office now), I decided to walk ALL THE WAY home . . . I was young and stupid . . . thank you so much for this. I'm not crying . . . :)

Staten island certainly is nothing like the other boros..its more like Nassau and Suffolk countries on long island
Thank you so much for posting this footage! I spent a lot of time in Auburn as a kid and into my teenager years and I go back every year. I spent many a Christmas in Auburn. I love the Xmas music as well. My family lived at 438 Turner st Auburn. on your footage you pull up to the street at 6:39 and I was on the edge of my seat hoping you would continue the turn and possibly pass my old family home ( I would have loved to see it with all the beautiful snow ) but you ended up making a U turn , oh well ,I still love all the footage, Thank you for a sweet memory !

What happened to all the sandy beaches we used to swim on? I didnt see any beaches. I spent lots of time there 50 years ago. Erosion maybe.
It still there, no worries. Still sandy still beautiful. But I drove the car through the roads and you can find the car parking which is the nearest location to the sandy beach. I love Staten Island, So beautiful. If I were to ever move to NYC, I think it would be this borough. It's still close enough to my hometown and family in Philly. Just 65 miles away.
It’s really beautiful borough that’s near to Brooklyn and NJ. You can also ride the ferry to be in Manhattan just in 25 minutes. I forgot, the ferry still free of charge. Cheers!!

Lots of memories I lived by the Mall and drove to St George everyday to go to CSI then when I got a job in Manhattan. Looking back it all went by so fast. Thanks for posting!

South of Staten Island is pretty. It takes just before the 14 minute mark where it loses it. But then it gets a little nice again towards the end.

Great video. Left there in 1987 after having lived there since 1960. Lived in 4 different neighborhoods right off of Victory Blvd. Doesn't look as if it's changed much at all. Glad to see to ballfield still there at the top of the hill in Clove Lakes Park at Royal Oak Rd. Best pizza in the city right there on Victory at Joe and Pat's. Yep SI sure was different than the rest of the city. And that's how we liked it. Thanks for the nostalgia.

Thanks for posting this. Staten Island has really changed since I moved to New Jersey in 1973. I live on Lyndale Ave 15:44 next to Richmond Ave from 1959 to 1973. Thanks for bringing back my childhood memories

This is one of the things I like about Staten Island. The fact that it is the only borough of New York City, with roads and parks like this. I feel like it would be super successful as an urban borough that also kept it's protected park land. Like, I think the borough could be the city's biggest success as a municipality that is 2/3 urban like Manhattan, but also keeps it's 1/3 of land that is park land. I think it would make people happy.

This is what I can’t stand about Staten Island. No people in the video walking around. Brooklyn has charm. Staten Island is as boring as a wet noodle.
