Phyllis is a combination of grace and beauty
Sal was so quiet that he was intimidating. You never knew what he was thinking.
Maryland was a hotbed of duckpin bowling for years. Lifelong hagerstown resident and can always remember having 4 duckpin houses within 20 min drive. 3 in hagerstown 1 in martinsburg wva
On Sunday I got my first duckpin strike and had a high game of 92. Challenging is an understatement.
What a sin for Frank Barrows Sr. as he got denied a Spare and a "Clean Game" incentive in the 10th frame no thanks to a "Half Worcester".
I'm amazed that Duckpin Classics awarded $200 Bonus Money for any Bowler getting a "Clean Game", meaning a mark in every single frame in one game. When the "Candlepin Bowling with Don Gillis" show was aired on WHDH, they didn't provide an incentive to any Bowler who got a "Clean Game", not even Rosario Lechiara, Tom Olszta, Paul Berger, or Ed Czernicki.
the 2-9 or the 3-8 chop seems to be almost as prevalent in duckpin as it is in candlepin. we call it a half worcester left or right.
some of the weird spare leaves are almost as bad as candlepin bowling.
frank barrows slides on the wrong foot but he did have a good string.
Ontario used to have Duckpin Bowling, but only have a few of these allies left. Quebec has its own version of Duckpin Bowling, often called Rubberized Duckpins. In the Quebec variation, Bowlers have to bowl beneath the hands, and you have only two balls per frame.
i didn't know duckpin is big in connecticut, we have mostly candlepin in massachusetts with some duckpin and tenpin. i bowl candlepin.
Duckpin seems just as hard as Candlepin. Its even harder than 5 Pin Bowling (Canadian Bowling) and Quebec Duckpin Bowling.
I noticed that some spectators were smoking during the games, which is disrespectful to the competitors. As for Duckpin, since their Bowling Balls are the same size as the 5 Pin Bowling counterpart, you think its easier to knock down the pin.
I wonder if Theresa Pearson is a Labradorian? I noticed that her shirt has the white, green, and blue colour triband, which is similar to the Labradorian Flag, a symbol of an Eastern North American Subarctic region called Labrador.
What an amazing "Spread Eagle Type Spare" at 3:24. Must have learned it from Mike Morgan, a Candlepin Bowler who is famous for making "Spread Eagle Spare" conversions.
Being raised in MD I bowled duckpin from 6y/o until adult, then transferred to 10pin when I moved to Ohio.
I thought I was the only one who slid on the same side as i throw....and i take 4 steps instead of 3!
Dunnack and Dominique both bowled well in this one. Quite accurate, didn't need a lot of bounce backs or sidewalls.
Would like to watch, but video too jumpy
Rich Dunnack is younger brother of Bob Dunnack, who was on these programs also.
I miss this sport. Been in AZ since 2009. I mostly bowled in Greenville. That location is long gone.
Norm Peters was lousy as commentator. He didn't really know the game.
Durante bowled out of Perillo's on Meriden Rd. in Waterbury. Very fast house for CT.
Swede was an amazingly accurate bowler, probably the best ever after Nick Tronsky retired.
Watching this is painful like watching a train wreck. These youths are terrible players.
I am kind of amazed that someone could win a match at this level after missing so many single pin spares. At this skill level missing them should be VERY rare.
Regular bowling is so boring by comparison. This is so much more fun.
Duckpin is so much fun to watch. Probably more fun to watch than play since I would lose horribly to almost anyone ahahaha.
No interview at the end?
I was not expecting such a comeback dang.
Watched September 24
Need a MLB pitch clock for Ponse he takes way too long between balls!!!
HIT
DuckPIN Magic
i really like watching the gals bowl especially theresa pearson, she has great action, form and style and does not miss alot of object pins and shots.
One thing I noticed with duckpins is how violently the pins shoot around in all directions, ricocheting everywhere!
Can you play duckpin and candlepin and 10 pin at the same alleys? Like can one bowling alley be fitted to accommodate all 3?
i've been a candlepin bowler my whole life and i got to try duckpin recently and really liked it. there was a lot more pin action and higher scores. i'd like to try tenpin sometime also.
good one string match.
Lucky strikes still going in Conn?
Yup! In Mansfield. Still run leagues too! And it looks exactly the same lol. Great for some nostalgic fun.
It's crazy that they're still doing public address announcements over the loud speaker while the bowlers are in the middle of their delivery.
That 4th strike was the best youll ever see. Lol
Amy is the best bowler ever.
I wish there was more duckpin bowling. Standard duckpin bowling is the closest cousin to our 5 pin game. 3 balls per frame, same balls, similar difficulty. Although there has been (very few) perfect games in 5 pin, and none in duckpin, it does indicate that it's more difficult to get strikes in duckpin, but it's also much easier to spare splits.
Bring this back. No more 2 handed non sense from regular bowling. 🎳
If only someone can invent a new duckpin pinsetter and opening up a manufacture plant or warehouse to develop more of those. That pinsetter should be strictly free fall instead of the StringPin crap from Brunswick
Love these classic duckpin matches. Would love to see some 60s and 70s if they existed
Thought this was candle pins. I'm out.
I remember this from when I was a kid in the 80’s. I wish it was still around today. Regular bowling balls are too heavy for me 🥹😭
Did you say Action ??? Duck pin bowling ? 😂😂🤣😂🤣 LAME LAME LAME . TRY CANDLE PIN THAT ACTION
70,s 80,s peter pierce the best ive ever seen ...untouchable
Swede Lavers was just as good as Pierce. He was unbelievable.
