You will get to share my days at sea working in the fishing industry in Norway. You will also share some of my free time where I fish for fun. I try and live a simple and healthy life and look forward to sharing the experience with you. I look forward to your comments on what you want to see more of. Wishing you all a great day. Please bare with me as I sort out sound and other issues as I learn how to make the best videos for my subscribers. I apologise in advance for some of the poor quality videos as i get started on this journey with you.
Processing fish (from sea to -40C freezer) on a long line fishing boat
Hey Folks, today we take a tour of the factory. Showing what happens to the fish from when it comes up the line into the boat, all the way to when it is processed and packed into the -40C freezer. I unfortunately lost some footage of Ilja putting fish into the freezing compartments but I do show some of the compartments and what they entail. It was very difficult to film on the boat because almost half the crew did not want to be in any footage. A big thanks to those who allowed to be filmed. I hope this explains better what the the process is. I will do another video that is more indepth on this next trip. I hope you enjoyed the video. Please remember to subscribe to the channel so you d...

I would like to thank Mateusz for all the help in his spare time with all the wood work he has done, I could not have done this without his help and i greatly appreciate it (he is a master)....

Hey Folks, welcome again. Today I will be sharing with you how we pull in the dragnet (snurvod / Norwegian name). We first throw out t a buoy and then the first reel of rope is attached to that. once that rope is off the drum we connect the net and the net is then cast into the sea. then the other drum is attached and that is emptied . We drive in a circle. when we finish the second drum we are...

Are you using StarLink?
unfortunately not. I have no idea what service provider the company uses on this boat but it is very, very slow. we can send messages but not make calls on WhatsApp or messenger.
Amazing video. Stunning area to be. So many questions to ask you. Have an amazing time
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like. I will do my best to answer as soon as I can. Also, feel free to ask for more of any specific content. Have a great day
My next bucket list fish hopefully. I was tempted to go trout fishing this weekend just passed. Unfortunately didn't pan out. Hopefully next month. You don't do any fly fishing?
@@darrelbaillie7829 do you fly fish, use spinners/lures or bait? I also fly fish sometimes too.
@@FishingwithClyde Hi there Clyde. I primarily fly fish for bass and panfish ( bluegill, kurper) and when I can, trout. I do have conventional equipment, but rarely use it. I prefer flyfishing, and I will target any species. I mainly do freshwater; never had a liking for saltwater, although at school I started on saltwater. Hope you are keeping well 😊
Good luck with the fishing.. are you heading to the bearing sea?..
@@finznscaleskzn1884 Thanks. Yes, we will be entering the Barents Sea. We will target cod m haddock. Be there for about 6 weeks.
@@FishingwithClyde do you fish 24/7 when you reach the grounds..how many tones do you normally catch on a trip. I definitely wouldn't make 6 weeks out there..hope you fill the hatches sooner than later..
@finznscaleskzn1884 I think they have shifts basically where they set the line rest 8 hours haul the line process the fish and set again and they keep repeating that and when they haul is dependent on the underwater current if I remember correctly and those ships hold anywhere from 100 tons to 300 ton of fish
@@Stimbly interesting..it must be quite some undertaking..will be interesting to see..👍
@@finznscaleskzn1884 yeah it's hard work but the money is usually good and it's fun if like fish and being on the ocean
Beautiful fish and gorgeous lake, looks like an awesome time
@@boostyahweh423 @@boostyahweh423 I agree and it was an amazing time. I was blessed this day, with weather and fish. It is rare to have such stunning weather for hours on end.
Lovely, I like to roll the trout in Scots porridge oats before frying.
@@dondle2 oooh, sounds good. I eat very little carbohydrates and do not have it in my pantry😥.
Lekka cook up! the fish looks very good...also looks good for a good Durban fish curry. enjoy the boat👍👌
Sounds like a lekker idea😋I just need to find some decent curry here or better, I bring it back from SA the next time I visit.
Very cool i work in the USA on a trawler from time to time.
Fantastic sunset..the fish stocks must be very well managed to keep it sustainable. Interesting video👍
@@finznscaleskzn1884 the fish stocks are managed very well here and in Iceland where I was last. They have been managing the fish stocks with control of quota for every species for longer than I have been involved with fishing in these countries. The management is regulated by species and are monitored very well. I have been on many a boat where we have scientists come on board for a week or so and study the fish we catch as well as the area we are fishing in. There are always no fishing areas to keep the breading fish safe and also to protect breading zones. The saying that "there are a lot of fish in the sea" is very true for here because the stocks are well managed. Thank you for the comments 😎
Some nice sizes there Clyde 👌
@@darrelbaillie7829 thanks, it was a very good day.
Hey Clyde. Congratulations on getting your YT channel up and running. I wish you all the best and many many more subscribers. Do you sell the fish you catch to the locals, or are they all for your own consumption?
Thank you very much, i appreciate the wishes:) The fish is mostly for my own consumption. I love eating fish and have no problem eating it almost every day when I have it, but some is also for very close friends. I also take fish to SA when i go visit my daughter.
Wow, how things have changed since I used to go lining for dogfish in the North Sea, 40 years ago. Apart from a whinch, everything was done by hand. Fascinating video, thanks for sharing.
Hey Simon, I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. Thank you for the comment. I am assuming that what you call dogfish is what I know as Steinbit/catfish (the french call it wolf fish because of the teath). If there is something special you would like to see, please let me know and I will see what footage i have that i can share. Hope you are having a great day:)
@@FishingwithClyde Dogfish are like a small shark, they have 2 nasty spines on their backs behind the dorsal fins, (I still have the scar). We sold them in the UK as 'rock salmon'. As it's Friday, I'm looking forward to the weekend, hope yours is a fine one. All the best mate, and stay safe out there.
@@simonhinchliffe4916 ok, thank you for the clarification. I am also looking forward to the weekend. Have a good one. I launched my fishing boat today and it should be ready early next month for commercial fishing and be ready for some new videos.
@@FishingwithClyde I look forward to viewing them.
@@FishingwithClyde I suspect that by dogfish he ment spiny dogfish. i got a bit of a problem with them in 2011-2013 when fishing on the west coast of norway- and got to many of them some days in my saithe nets, and was only allowd to have max 5% spiny dogfish in the catch. becouse they are red listed now.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiny_dogfish
Thats a monster crab Clyde. Norway looks like a lovely country, albeit a bit cold in the winter. I am sure that you are already used to it.
That is a King Crab. Norway is a truly beautiful country. It gets cold in the winter but I am used to it. I prefer the cold because you can dress for it. The heat is another story because you just have to bear it.
I assume the trout are for breakfast? Looks very cold there. But also nice and peaceful. Nice salmon that you caught there.
I had a big day working on my fishing boat, so i only ate the trout for dinner.
