Culture throughout human history has been a melting pot. People come in and the two cultures merge to keep the best bits of each other and disregard the bad bits. This has always happened. It happened with the windrush generation. Parts of Jamaican culture became British. The music especially, you look at all the great ska from the late 70's and 80's was white British kids and first generation Jamaicans. As people got used to each other the cultures merged to become something new. The two cultures don't exist in parallel, they become one. A uniculture, not a multi culture. It was under Thatcher that the idea of multiculturalism began. Maintaining separate cultures. It's a fantastic way to stop people uniting and for maintaining hierarchies. Culture is the main way human beings differentiate between each other. It predates concepts of race by thousands of years. Part of the problem is the quantity of people has not allowed people to integrate. In parts of the country they have ghettoised themselves. Why integrate if you can create your own community. Why learn the language, adapt or change at all if you don't have to? Why move to another country at all if you don't want to embrace their culture? I have been an immigrant twice, one time as an illegal immigrant and I'm the child of an immigrant,. It's hard and anyone who makes it work has my respect. But wherever I went, even if it was just a holiday, I did my best to be part of the culture of that country. I saw myself as a guest in their country. Grateful that they allowed me to be there. At work a whole week can go by without me hearing English in the staff room. The most common languages are French and Italian. That is not ok. That's not considerate. It's downright rude, alienating and antisocial. So yes I think things have gone too far. On an economic front. Colonisation was not just about resources. It was about labour. Resources are useless if they stay in the ground. It's the people that harvest them that create the value. They don't have empires anymore. They don't need to own the land. They can keep these countries poor. While taking the educated people for nothing. It's far more cost effective to entice a person another government has invested in than it is to invest in your own people. It's just a new way to squeeze the former colonies. For working people it only increases competition for resources. Another absolute truth in human behaviour is almost everything bad that happens comes from competition for resources or the fear of going without. Couple that with the government not investing in infrastructure to keep up with the number of people. Especially housing. Where two or three generations will never be able to afford to buy a property in the place they grew up. Try to imagine that feeling. That's communities destroyed. Which leads to societal breakdown. I think your main point was, people have a right to be here because of colonisation. I couldn't disagree more. Those countries got independence. If you want to talk reparations for what was stolen I'm all for it. It does not give you the right to go to someone else's country and make no effort to fit in. I''m sure you don't want my advice but I'm going to give it to you anyway. Stop seeing yourself as different. Become a part of our culture. Let go of the chip on your shoulder. All it does is weigh you down, I say that as someone who was raised with a massive historical chip on my shoulder. And, for the sake of all that is good and right, don't look down on people. Both, imo. Lack of education sees peasants fight amongst themselves. Multiculturalism isnt bad, the 'bad' is the lack of trust between differnet cultures. African and indian people are wary due to britains history towards those territories and its people over the centuries. Me personally, i dnt see fellow peasants as the enemy. Instead of trying to learn more about the music content through the language, he calls it f**kery. Before Afrobeats got really popular I didn’t know much about pidgin English, Igbo, Yoruba. The problem with multiculturalism is too many focus on skin colour rather than ethnicity. Europe is multicultural regardless of skin colour. Africa is multicultural regardless of skin colour, thats right across the spectrum. South America and Asia are also multicultural regardless of skin colour. You my friend have fallen into the bear pit of poltical intolerance known as multiculturalism which is a very different animal than the reality of life

Multiculturalism is a recipe for disaster. Obviously, look at the UK, Western Europe, Sweden etc. There's no good ending. If you don't like the culture, don't go top the country. Assimilation, the immigrants must take on the culture of the country they move to or go home.

It depends a lot on what you mean by "multiculturalism" Food, art, litterature, music, workforce and to a certain degree the blood of the immigrants etc. is one thing - values is another. Any sane people will be interested in adding some of the former but the latter can easily pose an existential threat when people enter with cultural values that are incompatible with the existing populations values and refuse to abandon them. I think that in any society either you have one set of cutural values that is so dominant that its pointless/hopeless for others to challenge that or you have war over who shall have that dominance. As for "education" you seem to want to do it from the perspective of blaming Europeans for doing things to other people, where its really things all humans have been doing to each other whenever they could until very recently. Eg. Black Africans didn't need Europeans at all to be enslaved and in the era where Europeans traded slaves in the West African slave trade, Europeans were taken (abducted -not purchased from the locals) by the Barbary pirates from as far north as Iceland and traded in the North African slave trade. Did you know that? If you want to educate dont cherry pick whatever suits an agenda. You completely ignored the wars England fought to end slavery.
