Ozarks Beauty // Overlanding new trails and finding new campsites
Spontaneous trip Thanksgiving weekend. Decided to take the trip out overnight to explore some new trails around the Ozarks. Ended up finding some epic campsites to come back to, and found some new paths to explore along the way.
Endured through the cold night with minimal heat available to stay warm while I don’t have a diesel heater. That should be next on the list for winter camping season ahead of me.

Explore Arkansas / Overlanding the Ozark National Forest

Set out with no expectations but to explore and find new destinations to camp and trail ride. Ran into some closed gates making the original created route turn out different than expected but that’s what makes the best adventures ending up in spots you never knew about. I also crash my drone.. Tune in on this adventure and see what beautiful spots I find along the way. Thanks for joining in! #4...
Fall Foliage in the Ozarks / Solo Overlanding
Просмотров 3 тыс.Месяц назад
Weekend solo overlanding to catch the fall foliage, but might have been a week early. Still caught some good color and explored some of the beauty the Ozarks has to offer. Tight trails and no where to bypass made for a sticky and risky reverse up a rock ledge with a steep shelf next to it. Find out where I get body damage and explore some new trials to epic camp sites. #4x4 #offroad #overlandin...

This was a journey that set out to be a simple get away to explore. Little did I know I would have quite the challenge ahead of me to maneuver my long bed Tacoma through some tight trails and down trees through some treacherous mud pits that looked unforgiving. As I make my way out of the trail exploring I set back to the mulberry to find camp. The following morning I trek my way to rock climb ...

Spontaneous adventure to get out and enjoy the weekend away from the busy work life. Me and Hogarth set out to find this camp we pinned on the map last time we were out exploring. Ifuku jabnt noticed he’s been a main star of my films between trails. Found and epic camp site with a deep swimming hole despite how dry it has been. Followed by and uphill ride that gave us a fun challenge to start t...

Overlanding in the Ozark National Forest
How far of a drive is it for you to get to the ozarks?
@@ashtonmichaels3222 give or take 2-4 hours depending where I start in the Ozarks. I live in Oklahoma so it’s a short commute with all it has to offer to explore.
That's awesome 👌
love the vids man, very relaxing and always enjoy another long bed ripping trails. keep up the good work!!!
Nice work as always and nice to have the drone shots back.
@@blindspot_adventures thank you! It was a fast return once I sent in for damage, ended up being sent a new one in replace 🙌🏼
I work with your momma and I enjoy your videos!
@@melindacuspard7252 Thank you so much Melinda! 🫶
@@melindacuspard7252 glad you enjoy them and thanks for the support!
Nice intro! Absolutely love this video and Hogies new jacket 🥰 That drone is where it’s at! Great job!👏 In case y’all couldn’t tell, I’m Cody’s momma and I couldn’t be prouder of this boy!
@@MichelleGenay haha thank you always for the support!
@@ZenOverlanding Always and forever!
Your rig is looking good buddy! Nice video!!
@@Wandering_Buffalo_Adventures thanks man! It’s definitely got some moans and groans right now but some grease/fluid film should get it sounding better on the suspension.
Good to see the drone is back in action!
@@GearUpAndGo23 me too! I had sent it off to dji and they ended up just sending me another after reviewing the circuit board was fried from the water dump.
@@ZenOverlanding Yea I sent mine in for a broken propeller arm. They are pretty fast with it.
Nice, maybe one of these days I’ll make it to the Ozarks, looks awesome
@@povcamping it’ll be worth it! Where are you from?
@ I’m in the mid Atlantic region so hopefully it’ll be a little warmer there
@@povcamping oh yeah, right now it will be but when it comes winter it does get pretty cold around here. Especially where I’m from in OK.
I love wheeling and camping in Arkansas! We are really lucky to live so close to some really epic land! Yeah, the bad thing about those propane heaters is they really give off a ton of condensation. Diesel is definitely the way to go!
@@AramatOverlanding Agreed! It’s a few hour drive for me but still a second home to explore from Oklahoma.
@@AramatOverlanding yeah that’s the next upgrade for winter camping this season. Definitely felt the condensation a lot this trip out.
A second phone wouldn't be a bad idea for that and any lights you might have also
@@ashtonmichaels3222 I actually have one after getting a new one recently that I use to fly the drone. Not a bad idea to utilize as a remote for the app when filming with the phone as well.
Nice one!
This is my favorite video that you have put out! Love everything about it!
@@MichelleGenay it was a good trip out exploring! Thanks for the support!
💪
@@ashtonmichaels3222 🙌🏼
Very nice shots! What route was this? I will have to go .
@@SuperGunner187 thanks! It was just general exploring around the mulberry river area.
I’ve been watching for awhile, now and your stories just keep gettin’ better! Well done 👏👏👏
@@davidbeezley6161 thank you! Means a lot, and learning and progressing along this journey sharing here.

Around 17:44 when you are eating your burger; in the creek behind you there is a trout that darts downstream.
I had to go back and sure enough, good eye!
Awesome vid! Love the drone shots. Liked commented, notifications on. May the algorithm be always in your favor!
@@smokin70chevelle thanks for the support! Much appreciated.
Living up to the zen title with how you dealt with the drone situation. Nice work!
@@blindspot_adventures thanks man! Yeah at first I was super bummed but I had a whole weekend ahead of me and I wasn’t about to let that get me down first thing in the morning. Plus I think the cold water helped regulate my nerves.
It was so nice to meet you and your dog at the soccer park in Catoosa Ok and as promised we watched your journeys..we are big fans keep up what you love to do..frm joe and jo..
@@joeguest6141 Good to meet y’all too, & thanks for the support!
I bet that made a difference
Dang that was deep!
@@ashtonmichaels3222 one of the deeper ones I’ve crossed so far.
9:37 yeah that is a nice setup 👌
@@ashtonmichaels3222 only thing I’d really need to finish the build is skid plates for protection. Then I’m done throwing money at it. Unless maintenance of course haha.
Hey, you made it past 500!
@@ashtonmichaels3222 This years goal was met! Now hoping to get 1000 by next year 🙌🏼
I like your kitchen setup
@@ashtonmichaels3222 it’s changed a bit now with the fridge slide I showed in my latest video. Has a cutting board to utilize and I want to build a drawer system for my tools and grill to stay in the left side so I can slide out without taking the totes out.
I haven't started yet but I'm getting my vehicle ready for it maybe next year when it warms up!
That's awesome, soon enough you'll be having a good time out exploring!
Beautiful
@@ashtonmichaels3222 🙌🏼
So that spot around the 23 minute mark, two yotas couldn’t make it up and decided it would be the best thing to cut the tree down. So when that trail become impassable in a year or two, you know why.
Went and looked back, is it already down in this video? Looks like a small tree laid down over off the shelf at the end of that ledge. I’m assuming they were coming up and didn’t have the width to ride the edge like I had and cut it to be able to pass? Right at 23:15 you can see the laid over tree.
@@ZenOverlanding Yes, about 8-9 inches at the trunk. This was in the spring, around May, if I remember right. Wasn't my call but the group was too afraid of hurting their precious sheet metal and RTTs to take the harder line.
@@claudhenrysmoot7957understandable, i literally was scrapping the tree at the top and got body damage when I had to back up because the jeep spotter was focused on the ledge and I was more worried about slipping off the shelf and rolling the truck. I told him my rear was locked and to let me crawl up. Wish I would’ve setup my camera to film to get that action that took place having to let them bypass. Realized that I said I would tip as I went down, that was not the case after backing up and riding the high ledge to cut it back up out of the way lol In the moment talks. But yeah can’t be scared to scrap or do what you have when the trails give obstacles.
Love ur vids... Is there a way for u to share the trails u r on? I'd like to go on them bc they all seem doable with my rig.
great meeting you at the Rendezvous!
@@overlandtowater likewise, it was a good time!
Hey you got a drone! What kind did you get?
@@Samsunwhoop I did! I got a refurbished eBay Dji mini 2. Does what I need to start out, wish I could afford the ones with follow me and active track but that’ll be a later investment down the road.
@@ZenOverlanding very cool. Id love to collab sometime and film some Fpv action shots of you crawling. I’m considering getting an older Cherokee for off road so I can start hitting up more nature spots for cinematic footage and such.
@@Samsunwhoop I’d be down to do that! That was just running in my mind the other day when I was trying to drive and fly the drone at the same time lol.
Nicely done. Good editing and music. I did OOAT but nothing over by white rock mointain rec area yet. Good stuff!!!
@@markspinner7220 thank you! Learning as I experience more each time long the way. There’s some good stuff just west of hw23. I just explore a little at a time then mark spots to go back and continue to explore as a weekend warrior.
Clean drone work. Another great vid man!
@@GearUpAndGo23 thank you! It was my first time really getting to play around and film with it. Stoked to add that dynamic to the videos now.
Pretty sure i know that last campsite not far from White Rock. Nice work on the video and if you ever want to get out sometime hit me up.
@@blindspot_adventures I was glad to stumble upon it after having to detour from original planned camp! But that’s part of the adventure. & Yeah I would be down to. I’ve just been going solo most of the time so it would be a nice change to roll out with people.

so good i had to watch two! Just getting starting on an edit, and needed a little motivation. Thanks for your video, and for helping motivate me to get back to editing! Great video, truck is looking great!
@@bigrockoverland thanks for all the support! This one was a fun challenge with the long bed through the tight trees and mud pits. We’ll have to get out there together soon and hit some spots. Going to rendezvous by chance?
@@ZenOverlanding yes we are! we will be on display Friday and Saturday at 9am. we are staying all weekend so we will have plenty of time to hang out!
Love watching your videos in the early morning. very relaxing feel. Keep up the good work brother! We have camped there many times, great spot!
@@bigrockoverland big piney has so many spots that are hard to pass when out there. I’ve been finding some good one on the mulberry in my recent trip and later in this video that I’ve come to like. Plus good trails and exploring around the river as well. Cheers!
Gotta love the storms
@@ashtonmichaels3222 it was nice but definitely made me nervous how intense it was getting 😅 just didn’t want the gear tore up by the time I woke.
@ZenOverlanding oh forsure i would of been nervous also 😆
Good video!! I have that same awning and am really happy with it. Will you be at Rondezvous in the Ozarks? If so come by and say hello at the JasperJeepJam and Overlanding Rally booth!!!
@@Wandering_Buffalo_Adventures thank you! Yeah it’s pretty good especially for the price point in comparison to others. Also thinking about it but not quite sure yet. If so, I’ll stop by and say hi!
I was about to ask where you set up camp, but the shape of that rock gave it away. That’s where we set up to watch the eclipse. From the Memphis, TN area but the Ozarks are my favorite place to be
@@cfracing8611 nice! Yeah that trail has so many camp spots it was one of my go to areas every time I would head out there. Been trying to switch it up for content recently.
Awesome job with this video and looks like you tacked those obstacles with ease. Great job. That exhaust on your truck sounds good man.
@@MooreAdventures. thanks man! It was definitely one of the more challenging trails I’ve been on due to the tight maneuvering through trees and mud pits. Also I like the exhaust when I’m going slow but it’s so loud when I’m picking up speed on the highway. I think there might be a leak in the pipe but I’m running with it haha.
