I’ve have Inmarsat isatphine phone 2.1…. I live in Utah an it’s useless in mountain terrain. Going with Iridium.

How does the sat not move when the earth does.
The satellite is positioned approximately 22,000 miles away and is designed to hold in the same orbit as the rotation of the earth to appear stationary, similar to satellite tv satellites. Thanks for asking!

Hi Paulie, Inmarsat has found their niche with the balance of size, data speed, and service cost. Their coastal plans are the best value for small fishing vessels and coastal cruisers. We regularly recommend and sell FleetOne to customers with a capital budget of about $5000 and month service budget under $200.

Is there a pay as you use service available for satellite phones?
This is a common question. Since there are costs associated with access to the network, there is always a base monthly or annual cost. At the lowest available plans, there is a maintenance level of cost that works out to less than $35/month with 10 included minutes. Overages are charged at $1.19/minute. To access this plan, you do have to commit to a 12 month contract. Alternatively, there are prepaid and rental options for shorter durations. Learn more at: www.ocens.com
