10 NERDY CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS FOR UNDER $20
Thanks for the education! I am old.. so it is so great to get info from a world I know nothing about!! When is the wedding??!!
You're welcome! We've been into nerdy stuff our whole lives so it's more natural to us, but we do understand that it's a completely different world of topics and such. Sooner than later for the wedding, we almost had our photographer lined up so we're trying to figure that part out.
Sheesh man. Don’t be too loud! You’ll wake up your mom while filming in her basement! Glad to see the new content bro! 👍
hahahaha. That was a fun one, we still have a lot of stuff in the basement that I need to pick up when we have more room so maybe I'll record that again. I've been trying to weave in different videos whenever we get the time, but listing comes first and videos second. I have a lot of ideas in my head, just have to find time to get em done. Hope all is well!
This is my nightmare lot.. lol.. I hate'em hate'em hate'em. I like the thought but sorting them is a pain in the butt!
: ) It is overwhelming but I got done with organizing after an hour or so and listed about 1/3rd, I don't list on the weekends to take a break but I should be done Monday ( Tomorrow). One of the 6" caveman already sold. I wasn't around for stuff like this so it's "new" to me and fascinating to go through. They're cool pieces of history.
I’ve been to an estate sale with that company running it. I had a bunch of books and then at the register the lady started checking the date of every book. Needless to say I passed on the books. It would have ended up being a couple hundred dollars. She then tried to knock off a few bucks but it still was just outrageous so I passed.
I think I just got super lucky she took the price I wanted because she saw it was an honest mistake on my part. I was drenched in sweat from carrying up the box of books from the depths of a deep basement lol.
Not cool....man up, and get a job can't live of mom forever
@@kevgraham2986 did you watch the video? This is all stuff we sourced or that I had from childhood. My parents are cleaning the garage out so I'm getting this old stuff out of the way.
Cool to see the sourcing video!
He's back from the Holiday! I'm glad you liked it, it was kinda last minute that I brought my mic.
Would you say you make more re selling then you would if you had a 9-5 job? And how often do you source? Is all the sourcing done at the thrift or some online?
Yeah I believe I'm making more and the ceiling isn't capped as it would be at a 9-5. I source in big chunks/bulk buys these days, so it's really random when I source. I don't have an answer other than when the opportunity arises. We do a lot of auctions online recently. But we have done a bunch of thrifting and even some of my inventory I still have is from when we did thrifting more from the previous years. I find ebay and selling interesting things fascinating as a concept.
Apologies for the microphone dying around 12:30, we'll make sure it's fixed tomorrow!
That’s great man!
We're having a good luck streak right now, we're super grateful! I hope everything is going well for you and the family. Merry Christmas
I sold a Levi’s Vest like 3 weeks ago. It’s a little or or BIG e vest. Legit and vintage. Someone buys it for $20 and then try’s a return saying it’s fake? It would take HOURS for a skilled person to create a Levi’s vest, and for $20? Like come on what kind of scam would I be running here 😅
@@JollyPokemon yes, people think we have so much time on our hands lol. We got accused of making fake Charlie Brown/Peanuts stickers a while back. The kicker was that they were an actual vintage item, but the person thought it was fake because it looked "too old."
@ Yep, they complained of the quality? Well things were different 50 years ago 😕

Cool look behind the scenes, interesting to see how other folks operate for sure. Do you guys have allot of storage? Maybe you have talked about this in past videos?
@@JollyPokemon we have a few videos up where I'm picking stuff up that sold. It's the two storage units, plus part of the condo dedicated to ebay haha

@ listing consistently. I appreciate you remembering 👍 hope all is well!

@@JollyPokemon haha, hey! Hope you're doing well!
Black Friday consumers are tapped out. That's why sales are down. You have to be careful with those toy pieces, esp. warn the buyer not to put around little kids. They can swallow the pieces.
First 🔥
I see you stay up late like we do.
@ Best time to list is when the kids are asleep!
I like your cup
Since the elections my ebay has been really solid. I try to keep my store around 5-600 items, but here lately ive been shipping out 5-12 items a day. My stores down to little over 400, and Im listing 10+ a day
@@DrewM86 what do you sell? Not trying to steal your ideas, just curious!
@RetroDreamBeam I started out with just video games, and collectables back around 2007. Just part time though for a hobby. I gradually started selling other things. Just random anything I could make $$$ on. 2019 I had to get a back procedure....then cvd hit. So I started full-time. Basically I will sell anything. Electronics, collectables, shoes, hats, clothes, ties, books, vintage camping gear, silver, gold, lamps (dont sleep on lamps) I've done 7k in lamps this year. Art glass.....like I said just about anything.....but I draw the line on anything that's needs freight. I checked out your store. Your very organized, and have some nice niche s. Only thing I would suggest is adding things that people need. Shoes, clothing, accessories, hunting/camping gear. Survival shtf stuff
Grow a pair. There are always challenges in any business including reselling.
@@FirstLast-gm6gw 🤣
The last 4 years has drained everyone's disposable income and people can't afford what they want. The motorcycle industry has been decimated. But come January things will start to normalize. I'm gearing up to have the best year ever selling online.
Yeah, it's just been terrible. WTF. But on another note...ALAN TUDYK! You never watched Firefly?! Or A Knight's Tale. He does a lot of voices in stuff you've probably seen, too. Or maybe not!
@@theluckyfishmarket no, I haven't seen Firefly unfortunately. I know it has a big fanbase that really loves it though. Aneta watched Dollhouse, and he was apparently in that?
@@RetroDreamBeam oh,that sounds right. I think I only watched a couple episodes of that. Firefly was great. It's too bad Joss Whedon is...the way he is
is this a video whining about your lack of sales??? Comon Man!!!
It's not the politics. People have much less money to spend. Thank you, Obiden.
Maybe people are worried about the economy. I only have 400 listings and I have had almost a sale a day but I have increased prices. Keep trying.
@@karengullickson4290 we have a sale going on and it seems to have helped to decrease prices by 5%. But it's definitely sad how things are going.
My sales are terrible too. It's a very tough time to be selling. Thank you for sharing your family's experience with it.
@@christinemarie_p I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully it gets a bit better as we get closer to Christmas.
I can't comment on all your items, but I am a toy seller and I can tell you prices on your stuff are way too high. If your whole store is like that, it would explain a lack of sales. Example, the carded Sinthia figures (basically all the Skybolt figures). I sell those for $5 at toy shows and if I were to put one on E-Bay, it would be $3.49 + shipping. And it usually won't sell at that price. But then you are asking over $11 + shipping for a single figure. If I look at comps just on E-Bay, you can get the same figure shipped for $10.50, and it isn't selling, even at that price. You are priced double what the market will pay. Even your loose figures are too high. You have a broken Beast figure for $14+shipping. Which is over $20. But multiple unbroken ones have sold for under $20 shipped, as low as $15 shipped. Broken its maybe a $5 figure, maybe... The Star was POTF figures you have for sale are staples of toy shows for $5 each. I list them at 3 for $10 + ship on E-Bay and they are very slow movers. You are asking over $10 each + ship. And these prices I'm mentioned that are too high, are with you already discounting them 30% from your normal price. Just across the board, stuff in your toy category is priced 2X what they actually sell for after discounting them 30%. But again, I can't comment on your entire store, only the category I specialize in. You may want to revisit your pricing across the board to increase your sales. With 17,000 items maybe you listed them back during COVID and some items were selling for more, but prices have come way down on collectibes since then. You may need to spend the time researching comps and repricing your store.
If sales have been doing well B4 this quarter? Maybe too overpriced, it's not the problem? There are plenty of sellers making money from overpriced items. I am just voicing an opinion
I don't know what crosshairs you're talking about. Since the election sales have exploded. I live in Canada and I've been shipping a lot to the US in November until Canada Post went on strike. It took some time to switch to other carriers but for the last week the Thanksgiving vibe has been incredible. I lowered my prices and orders are rooling out crazy. Give it some thought...
@@DavidGregoire_ what do you sell? We've picked up in the last few days, so it's not as dire.
4th quarter has been looking like crap so far this year.
3M is the brand name. Thanks for the video.
First 😛
@@JollyPokemon our first "first" ever! Congrats lol
@ Nice 👍
Keep your head up man. You can’t control everything. We’re in a crazy time right now. Better or worse. Christmas is right around the corner so hopefully sales pick up again for you guys.
@@skate14eras thank you so much. It's been a little better since this video!
Check out Justin Resells. He has good videos on ebay algorithms. How to get sales everyday all that good stuff
Maybe cross list on other platforms? Maybe even whatnot? I'm in Australia so we don't have access to half the platforms you have and I know ebay works a bit differently in each country. I just sell my old stuff from time to time but I understand the stress of working for yourself. Hope it picks up!
@@hauntedghostcollectables we have some stuff crosslisted on other platforms, it's definitely a good idea. We're working on adding more. Whatnot has been something we thought about, but we're not sure if anyone would even watch haha. Thank you!
@@RetroDreamBeam The Aussie Flipper might have a perspective to consider? It would be a massive mind shift cause sometimes we find comfort in quantity ruclips.net/video/PuWDHkFgoaE/видео.html
It's not your fault, I'm in the exact same boat and watching your videos over the past week or so has showed me it's not me, it's the economy right now. I sell full-time solo in the hobby industry via my own site/biz but not on Ebay at all and I'm experiencing the exact some struggles. My sales have been extremely slow and probably down 45% to 50% too, I've been very frustrated too. You just gotta buckle down and keep pushing, hopefully it picks up for the independent resellers.
@@Fluery Yeah, we're really hoping that at least there's a small tide of sales where we can keep it going and weather the storm. Not that I'm happy any of us aren't doing well, but it's a nice sanity check. We keep checking ebay to see if it's a bug just on our end, but no... It's everyone.
Hey bro, maybe you can open up like a donation. Where people can donate if they like to help you out.
@@douglasmelendez1796 we weren't sure people would like that to be honest. We figured since we post our link to our ebay, they could click on that and buy something if they like what we have.
Hello, I’ve recently found your channel, I started reselling and reinvesting my profits. I’m Sourcing from thrift stores and Market place. I’ve had 30 sales in almost 1 month. But I still see items sitting in my store that like maybe folks HAVE NOT even looked at yet. Can you talk about how you deal with listing an item and then do you ever adjust price? Or just leave it and do a OBO because EVENTUALLY someone WILL buy it or at least make an offer? I feel I’m getting like sellers anxiety? I’ve got like just over 100 total items so maybe if I want more sales I need to scale up? 🤔
30 Sales in a month is pretty good, especially if you just started. We've been sourcing from all sorts of places for years, currently we are doing well with online and in person auctions, but thrift stores and market place are great as well. We don't adjust prices on stuff too often, maybe an occasional percent or two down, BUT we do have offers on and most of our items sell on offer. You don't have to turn on offers, it's just the strategy we are using. Do what you feel is right or what feels good for you. Unless if you're getting actual 0 sales in a month, then change it up. Once we list an item, I generally don't take down the listing unless the item gets broken. I feel like since the time and effort was put into the listing in the first place, might as well keep it up. I wouldn't worry about sellers anxiety, for example, we're having a pretty bad month so far but we just keep moving along. You can only control so many factors and there's a lot you can't control at all. You don't have to list more to get more sales, but if you have the time, list. I enjoy the listing, but I do know it can get boring at times. I don't know when, but I can do a video on these questions in the near future, they're good questions. But yeah, 30 sales in a month is great.
@ Thank you, I have watched some of your older videos also. I really appreciate the time. I wish you the best 👍
One time I found a wooden hand at goodwill for $4 and sold it a day later for $50
@@donwarnick1089 that's pretty cool! Goodwill used to have cool random stuff just a few years ago.
Game companies should pay you to go to conventions and talk about their games at their booths
@@hauntedghostcollectables I actually have done that before at conventions, and I was thinking about maybe doing it again soon!
my sales in november started awesome but they are very slow since the 8th of this month .. have no idea whats going on
@@OMGs-Life Thanks, I try my best with what I know about stuff. Our first few November days were decent but it's been rough since then. We will see how the month ends up going. What do you sell?
appreciate your videos :) I like the general focus on the sales as well as the background info you give about the product too. thank you
I've looked at a couple listings. The photos do look sharp. The text is blurry in many areas and I can't see the surface details as the objects are washed out due to too much light. The images look like they were taken with a phone. They have shadows and you can see the seams of your background material. Loose fibers or hairs on some items. Get yourself a foldout six resin table and put it on a shaded side of a building outdoors, not in direct sunlight. Cover table with rollout mat - I use a treadmill mat. That will provide the best lighting conditions, far better than your photo booth. Also much faster as you can fill the table with items and shoot them all at once, with access around the whole table. Use a crop frame or full frame camera and not a phone. My 12 year Canon Rebel with its kit lens, battery grip and Class 10 SD can shoot faster much better quality photos than your phone. I can also shoot photos for a longer period of time. Clean all you items first and shoot them all at once. Every step of your listing process should follow mass production practices.
Any tips on how to cheaply ship a single magazine like the one you sold? I am afraid to throw that into a poly or just a thin box. Records, I use a record box that I trust but I struggle with single magazines or comics. I'm afraid. 😅🤣 Any tips for packing those?
@@nerdsreselling If you want to keep it super cheap, local stores or Costco/Sam's Club should have leftover boxes they're throwing out. For the paper stuff we sell under $10, we sandwich the item between two pieces of the boxes we cut down, and then stuff the "sandwich" into cheap polymailers we got in bulk. For the pricier stuff, we just google "rigid mailers" and find ones with decent reviews/pricing. We use the 9.25x12" size the most. Probably best to stock up now, before prices go up!
Hi. Watched your for a while but apparently on my personal account. Thanks for the videos!!
