1994-95 CCA vs Hooper Academy Christmas Tournament @ Autauga Academy
I was there with my 396-375 Chevelle w.4.10 gears. I remember that the several 1970 GS Stage 1's that were there pretty much dominated. One of them "cleaned my clock" in Round 3.
Gremlin was definatley not a "bust" it was one of amcs best sellers during the early 70s.
She is absolutely ridiculous. Most accurate singer since Karen...
Dennis Collins did a coffee walk show on two these
I can't even watch this anymore. After watching her do this I thought I was going to stop breathing it's just too beautiful. 20 years ago my 13 year old son Sam went to the mailbox to see if his Xbox magazine had arrived. A newly licensed driver tried to take a 90 degree turn at 70 mph and lost control. My son had no chance to run, no chance to react. I didn't witness him getting hit. His head was trapped underneath the car for 4 minutes. I got home right after the driver drove forward to free my son. I got out of my car and everyone that lived in my apartment building parted like the sea. I saw my son on the ground. I ran to him, threw everything I had in my arms everywhere and straddled my son's body. His head was smashed 4inches in the ground. I dug him out,his body was lifeless, eyes glazed and his face was ripped apart. I held him and told him " Mom's got you" "Can you hear the sirens?" " Can you hear the helicopter blades of the lifeflight helicopter?" They're all coming for you Sam& I refuse to let him go. They put him on life support so my huge family could say goodbye. He died the next day April 11,2003. James Taylor was the only musician I could listen to for a year. Then I saw this. I never thought JT could be topped but Alison Krauss blew my mind. I love you Sam❤ Love,Mom
Alison does much justice to this James Taylor song! Hard to beat Alison!!❤
I remember when the pigs statred driving them.
I’ve listened to this song by Alison many times and I’m always amazed at this young lady’s perfect ( to my ears) voice. I don’t think I have ever heard a bad note sung by her. Jerry Douglas, dobro maestro supreme. Just a wonderful collection of musicians and singers. I think James Taylor definitely would approve of this rendition.
what tv show is th
PA state police had late seventies Pontiac Trans Am for pursuit work In Tioga County as an unmarked chase car to catch speeders. 400 Pontiac in that good for 130. They had to because the stock little 305 fleet Malibu ran out of breath above 85. Hard to imagine but by 1978 ten year old muscle cars from the golden era were fairly cheap used and becoming a real problem being street raced at night by young folks who packed groceries during the day. Police cars got so slow at decades end even a base model 350 four barrel Corvette from the early seventies would just disappear from the cheap fleet purchased Malibus.
They should have dropped a 401 in the Gremlin.
So much BS and false information in this video, don't even know where to start. The GTO Judge was only a "stripped down" version during initial planning discussions. It didn't end up that way in production. Who doesn't know that? The Gremlin was a bust and losing the company money? Over 670,000 sold in the 8 years worth of production. The Javelin shown is NOT a 1971 car, the car shown is a 1972! 1972 cars had the egg crate grille and matching tail lights like this car. The 1971s had a completely different grill and tail light assembly. And the Javelin AMX in 1971 was different still. The guy talking like a 3 core radiator was something special! The front fender humps were unstable???? Laughable. Why is stuff like this produced? Every other line uttered is garbage. Ignore everything here, do your own research.
i don't like the way that host is talking to me....i'll stone cold stunner his a$$.
The Alabama car is a '72 Javelin, front grill and rear tail lights give it away, not a '71. I'm the original owner of a '72, of the four years for this model, the '71 and '72 where the best in features and performance.
Yes, the car featured is a 72, but the ADPS first got the 711 models, then more 72 models.
I didn’t know Jerry Douglas sang much aside from this. I saw her when I was 16 but he wasn’t there.
I guess Goldberg forgot about Catoosa County, GA, using the Trans Am as a cop car thanks to Sheriff J. D. Stewart
The song(-;
My brother and I were there for this one. We were the first in line at the vendor gate, drove all night and got there real early in the morning. Was a fun weekend, sold a few parts, saw a bunch of nice cars and people. Got the video and T shirt, but it seems to have shrunk since then!
the Gremlin was maketed from 1970 through 1978...hardly a "bust".
And produced almost 750,000 of them over those 8 model years. Matter of factly, AMC could not produce enough Gremlins to meet demand. In the truncated 1970½ model year, they made almost 30,000 Gremlins. For the 1971 model year, that number doubled. '72 it nearly doubled AGAIN. '73 over 122,000 units were sold. For little AMC, that was a HUGE number. Remember, their annual production was generally only around 350,000 cars a year. Almost half of the cars they built in '73 were Gremlins.
The GTO Judge VS The Javelin SST !!! Awesome Video..
No it's not an awesome video. Almost every line uttered is bs. See my screed above.
yeah that car looks like it belongs as a police car in alabama
Top bad the javelins did not stay until the late 80's as it would have been fun seeing these cars caging down Benzes
What a voice. A gift from god.
Music sucks
141 MPH.. who you kidding.. these topped out at 128 Mph! BUT this comes from Ed Sanow, who doctord the police Dodges stats and i can prove it...the stories keep growing on these cars
With the right gears it could easily get to 140
@@johns4306 oh yeah with the right 1-1 gears yeah id hit 140.. but its not practical gearing! Even the Michigan state police tested a 69 Polara with the 440 and it hit 147 MPH with a 2.49-1 gear AT THE TRACK! otherwise those cars ran a 3:23 on the street and topped out at 134 MPH!
Well, umm,I had a '72 Javelin SST stock 360 with a four barrel and got clocked at 145mph. IT could outrun any cop car but not the radios and roadblocks.Kept the ticket,a warning one,in case one calls bullshit. The cops said they had been watching me drive to and from work at those speeds but they thought it was the coolest car. They allowed me one chance because of their admiration of the car.
@@MathewJames-h5p any copcar LOL.. yeah sure pal, the 440 Pursuits topped out at or above 147 Mph, and the Big Block Fords did 150+... keep dreaming!!! AND THIS WAS PROVEN AT THE TRACK NOT HERESAY!!!! PS: my buddy has a 360 HIPO Javelin and my 460 Police Interceptor eats his lunch everytime!! ask him.... I SPECIALIZE in old police cars, 40+ years in expertise! I can assure you this low compression 3 speed 401 javelin cannot do 160+ mph! and as per the testing of them 140 Mph was TOPS!!! and that was on the higher compression 71 401 Police javelin!
The Javelin was also lighter than muscle cars, which added to their speed at the track. The 401 was a strong engine. The earlier 390 made 529 hp in the factory’s Pro Stock developmental car. Herman Lewis took the motor even further, dominating Super stock for decades.
Who in the hell thumbed this down?
Definitely some goofs in the script. But still glad they did a segment on these cool cop cars!
Alison... angelic.. I watched the concert for JT last night. this and Bruce Springsteens version of "The Miller" was sublime..
Book 'em Dano and just put him in the trunk......
Her voice is heaven-sent. It's a little too flawless to be real.
I love the 71-74 AMC Javelin body style. They were one of the best looking cars of the early 70s in my opinion. I'd love to have a 71 Javelin AMX 401-4 speed. I like the 68-70 Javelin's too but the 71 is my favorite I think. I always really liked the Hurst S/C Rambler and the Rebel Machine. The 68-70 AMX 2 seaters were cool cars too. The AMC 390/401 was a great engine. It was really reliable and also made great horsepower and torque
Absolutely wonderful job ! IMO its pretty hard to top Or improve a James Taylor song but these two have done. It ! BTW JT is one of my all time favorite singer / songwriters and ive seen him live 4 or.5 times so far Allison’s voice in combo with the sliding guitars work bring on a new element of sweetness to the song
I bought a well used 1969 AMX 2 seater in 1987. A former West Virginia State Patrol Mountain area pursuit fleet unit. Factory fleet ordered 290 / four speed, with power steering and brakes....4 wheel DRUMS. Tilt wheel, clock delete. W. Va. state patrol swapped in a 390 from a 1968 4 door AMC unit. It was sold at state / county fleet auction, and drag raced hard for years. I got it when it's former W. Va. owner brought it to SC. in DE-DRAG raced form, with various years parts to make street able. There are many of these Javelin police units with 401s...unmarked, in various colors, with TWO antennae mounting holes at corners of the lower rear window to trunk lid area....likely filled long ago.
I had a stock 73 amx 401 , 3:15 rear gear and 29 inch tires and a 650 holly carb ,, at high speed that car was super stable.. i barred the 140 mph speedo to the 150 mark if there was one :)
yeah sure you did.. a stock 71 with the 3:54 topped out at 115 Mph! with a 3;15 your licky to hit 124!
i wish mister tuff guy would shut up , you old bald headed fuck
I had this on VHS and have watched it countless times. It was a time when the cars were just cool cars, not investments, and people weren't afraid to beat on them! Thanks for sharing.
Imagine hearing those 2 now deceased muscle car names rocketing down the Alabama freeway at over 100mph! V8s roaring and the old style siren blaring! I bet it was majestic sounding!
This is haunting...
such a soothing sound of her voice, calm the most troubled times
Is the base guitar a little to loud in areas for anyone else?
Magnificent Allison and Magnificent Jerry
The 401 Fleet engine had looser tolerances. I thought the 71 401 had 330 horse and they would absolutely go 1:40 or more with a 315 rear diff
Yes. They came with 272 open diffs. 142 mph for my 71.
"The Javelin was never outrun".Sounds like state trooper b.s. to me.I have owned two Javelins in the past, and while they were great cars, they were not head and shoulders above the competition like it is implied here.I once got my doors blown off by a Plymouth Roadrunner who,to add insult to injury, gave me a blast from the "beep-beep"horn as he passed me.I was driving a 71Javelin sst with the 401 automatic, and got my feelings hurt real quick!
yeah No $hit.. these were 0-60 in 7.7 sec cars and mid 15 sec 1/4 miles times too.. top speed was 132 MPH with the 4 speed! The police version had a 3 Speed!! The 1991 Mustang 5L Police car ran 0-60 in 6.5 and 1/4 mile in 15.1 and top speed of 135 mph.. just as an example
It is B.S. My Father Had an Actual Shelby Cobra, I was young, but I can remember the stories very clearly. That Cobra could hit 200 M.P.H. and hold 180 all day (or until the gas ran out). The thing I remember most about that car was the windows didn't roll down, you had to take them out.
@@BrittainDix You're so full of BS your blue eyes are brown.
70 Javelin 390! There is no substitute! Herman Louis proved what a 390could do amongst a sea of Hemis, BBC's and BB Fords. They rocked! At a time when the Super Stock Hemi was rated at 500 hp, and the 440 could easily reach 521 hp with the right massaging, the 390 could pull off 529 hp. And if you take everything into perspective, the 390 and later 401 was basically a mid Block. More akin to a small block with a big bore than the Big Block they had to compete against. And it says a hell of a lot about the Pontiac Judge to even come close to the Javelin. They would have been more accepted if they had not been so late to the party of Muscle cars. In the sixties AMC's motto was a car for the human race. They made fuel efficient cars for those who couldn't afford cars from the big three. From 69 on, when AMC got into the performance scene they did nothing but get faster. And they used every advantage their competitor didn't!
I love it.
Was passed by that car in1971. We were in a 69 cobra jet mustang and he ran up behind us at night. Told my buddy, he's driving like a cop but those aren't cop lights. Oh yes it was. Thankfully did not bother us, but he could have!
If you love your home state and the landscape you can never forget, the place where your people come from and lay in peace just think of this song and change the words a little it will take you home. (Colorado here!)
To Notch Cover. Love Alison's Interpretation of songs.
Alison's performance is wonderful: such a perfect voice with sweetness and feelings. More than this, she 's one of the most feminine and classy singer in the US !
