I used the korg px4 for the drum beat. Take this patern and play it over and over again using a drum track or a metranome unitl you get it up to speen...about 120 bpm.
Still waiting for some current you tube carving videos
I have that same saw. How come my carvings don't turn out like that? Maybe my lack of talent? 😁 Thanks for the videos! 👍👍

Hey Scott, I'm a customer of yours on Ebay having bought two of your marvelous wizards. Just wondering where you are? Have you retired from carving and selling on Ebay?
I don’t have anywhere I can carve at the moment.
@@GrizAdams111 Wow, sorry to hear that. Hope you find a place soon. I may even have a few commissions in mind if you're interested.

Hey im not sure if its the video bit when you hit the metronome it seemed a bit off beat. Was that because of the 16th note or were you just rushing a bit for the video
It's possible it's me.
LOL...Went back and listened and I'm way off. I'll admit I'm not the that good of a guitar player. I wonder if Zach ever listened to it. That's probably why it has so many views, he's probably showing it to all of his friends for a good laugh.
Ah we all make mistake from time to time. Your bad dude just keep up the practice
Hi Scott. Fantastic...so i have a Dremel and never used it for my carvings. What bits do you recommend to start off...any other advice to get started?

Great video, I'm a beginner and by watching you I've been learning how to make a bear.. Gracias for sharing...
Which wood are you using?
basswood
Scott Longpre Do you have any good videos without basswood? Asking bcuz here all I can get are pretty hard woods.Thank you very much, I enjoyed your video.
It would be good to add more video's that go to the finished product including painting, the fact is there are very few people that show power carving on youtube that are good
One of these days.
Your Awesome man......!!!!!!
This is awesome! You should make some instructional videos on this craft.
Excellent carving man it look great. Cheers Tim from wood 4 nothing
Do you use a special bar or chain to prevent kickback? I see you are doing a lot of carving with the tip, and thought that would cause a lot of kickback. Thanks
I haven't watched the video in a while so I don't know what saws I used. But dime tips don't tend to kick back so your can get away with a lot of the no nos. I don't know why. And on a regular bar it's the top of the bar tip that is the danger zone. If you scrape with the bottom of the bar tip your okay.
Scott Longpre thanks, looked like you were using a regular saw. I see a lot it looks like you are using the tip, even the top, such as digging through for the legs. Is kickback severe when carving like this when it does happen, or do you catch it easily? Thanks
Matt if you watch me making a plunge cut you will notice that the handle is lower than the tip so I'm starting the cut using the bottom of the tip and once I get into the wood a bit then I can bring the back end up and start plunging through the wood. Once the whole tip is in the wood it cannot walk up the wood and cause it to kick back. I'm guessing if you were to do a search here on YT you could find a video on how to do a plunge cut. I don't chainsaw carve anymore because it was to hard on my back. But sitting hear thinking about it, I think there are situations were you can get away with using the top of the the tip and that is when your using the side of the chain and scrapping down or sideways and not using full throttle. So its a scrape more than a cut. Please note that I'm going off of my memory so I could be wrong. These are skills you will pick up with practice once you get to know your saw. Just remember you don't always need full throttle and always wear safety gear. I have hit my chaps on more than one occasion. There lots of chainsaw carving events and plenty of chainsaw carvers around. Find a chainsaw carving forum and locate a local carver and watch him or her carve and as questions. They will freely give you carving advice but don't expect any advice about how to make money off of your carving. They don't want you setting up shop down the road from them, but if they are over worked they might sell your carving at there sight for a piece of the action.
Scott Longpre that’s very helpful, thanks a lot!
Which wood is the best kind of wood for this? All of the woods that I have used peel and are really hard to cut.
I use basswood and purchase from reputable sellers who see to woodcarvers.
Scott Longpre this is very helpful. Do you have any sources that you would recommend?
In a pinch I go to Menards. www.heineckewood.com/
