Metümnyo festival is one of the most important festival of Yimkhiung Community.It is celebrated in the month of August,from 4th to 8th August and is generally celebrated on 8th August by all Yimkhiung communities.Festival begins right after the harvest of the millets.It also serves as a time to honor those who may face misfortune in the coming year, with prayers offered for the departed souls.
The key aspect of the Metümnyo festival today is the gathering of loved ones. On the day of the celebration, ample food and meat are prepared and shared with friends and family.
