Hi Ryan going to bc Canada next year , tied some hoh bo Spey on plastic tubes , came across another fly squidro tied on shanks with dumbbell eyes, can you tie dumbbell eyes on plastic tubes

You are very good as a fly tier, but that is not an original tying of or anywhere near Bert's original mettican bug. I own 3 original mettican bugs i bought direct from Bert 17 years ago which he tied himself the previous day and takes a lot longer to tie as mentioned to me by Bert himself than 1:20 a lot longer. He told me himself many years these do not come up for sale often as they take a long time to tie and not many can do the eyes. When i asked him who could tie me up a few originals, he said there is not many at all that can tie it right, i know of two that can and Bert was right as others have tried and what they tied me was nowhere near the original. I have stripped one of my Bert's originals down that he tied himself which i bought direct from him leaving me two in pretty good shape, helps when one has the originals in front of them.

In the US, I can't find a looper that does not trim the end. The one step looper won't last long cutting stainless. What brand of looper are you using?
