I am a recent graduate ME, and mechatronics is indeed what I intend to study on my masters program, for I LOVE programming and controlling mechanical systems!! Looking forward for the whole course!!     Should you put dieelctric greas on your battery post before attaching the terminals? Or should you attach the terminals to the battery post, tighten them, and then cover with dieelectric grease? Or just use no dieelectric grease on your car battery?

    You would have to reduce the resistance of your circuit to keep the discharge rate at 500mA. In an ordinary circuit the discharge rate would decrease as the voltage decreased. Also that is the voltage under load. As soon as you unload the battery the voltage will go almost back to normal even though the battery is shot.

    It's like when the Americans fell so much in love with inches, that they forgot to switch to any other more consistent system. It's an elaborate initiation-rite/practical joke that we EEs play upon the rest of the world in a mean-spirited streak. We don't use slide-rules and log-tables any more. And yet, we stick to our guns and dB.
