    I watched your entire video from start to finish. I’m in the beginning stages of my pet care business, and was actually contemplating which services to offer, your comment about overnights was really helpful. I’ll definitely look for an alternative service to offer to avoid not doing overnights. I’ve done one so far, and enjoyed it, but would feel uncomfortable in a new client’s home.

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue 10 дней назад

      Congratulations on getting started with your own pet care business! 🌟There are pet sitters I know that have been doing overnights for 10+ years and they seem to like them. But it always depends on the individual person. I personally prefer to be home with my fur babies 😍and to sleep in my own bed. And i didn't even tell my ghost story yet. 😆 The closest substitute to an overnight visit is visiting the pet 1 hour (30 min walk, 30 min hanging out in the house etc.) around 8/9 pm and then a morning visit between 6 - 8 am for 30 min. If your clients really want to book with you, they are usually fine with an arrangement like that. Of course you won't bring in the same money as an actual overnight visit does, but this way you can service more than just one client without having to sleep in a strange home. And don't ever -ever- do anything that makes you uncomfortable!

    Add straw, NOT HAY, and remove the blanket. It will get wet from snow and rain and freeze, thus defeating the purpose. Mylar is decent but not the best. Sraw is a natural insulator and is better. Farmers use straw for animals that live in the barns, etc. God Bless your heart

      Yes you are absolutely right. I should have mentioned that! When we had the cat house it was underneath a covered porch and we made sure to put warm blankets in them regularly. We also constantly checked the house nothing was wet and the kitties were comfy.

    Zue thank you so much for all of the content you share, I appreciate it very much. I'm doing a trial run of precise petcare and have discovered that clients cant see my availability - unlike rover where clients can see what your availability is and book in accordance with that. I know you also use precise - how do you navigate this issue? Or do you even see it as an issue.. ? I've been back and forth with precise and they suggest blocking the times out but the whole point of getting the software is that its doing these things for me so i can focus on the babies. Thanks!

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue 9 месяцев назад

      Hi stokes!!! It's my pleasure - thank you for your sweet comment! In regard to Precise Petcare - that's an excellent question and since I've never walked for Rover before having my business, i didn't even think about availability in that way. We work with time frames, so we never give our clients an exact time we will arrive. For our dog walking clients we have time frames like 10 am - 12 pm, 12 pm - 2 pm, 2 pm - 4 pm. Our dog walking clients we put on a regular schedule so we can book them one month in advance. Our cat sitting clients will request a booking as soon as they know they will be going away and we then let them know if we can fulfill their request or not. I think you just need to see booking requests from your clients from a different perspective. Does this make sense?

    • @stokes111111
      @stokes111111 9 месяцев назад

      @@IAmZue hi zue! thanks for your reply and insight. I appreciate such a well thought-out reply. I can see how this way of booking can be helpful, especially if you have a team and know that one of your sitters will be able to fulfill the request. I think all of the petcare software companies ive reached out to operate in this way. I think i've found a general scheduling/billing software that works better for what im looking for as a solo sitter for the time being. Thanks for your time! Love your channel.

  • @chloebodnaruk9602
    @chloebodnaruk9602 10 месяцев назад

    The schedule does not make sense, you didn't even factor pick up and drop off times. Clients are not going to all live next to each other. Lmao

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue 9 месяцев назад

      That's incorrect. Did you watch the video? I added 10 min between each visit as travel time and an additional 30 min after 1 pm as lunch/bathroom break. So more than enough to make for a relaxed work day and still get a good amount of walks done.

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue 11 месяцев назад

      A 50% surcharge is definitely fair! I don't know, if you have hired staff (yet), but if you would like to do so in the future, it's also only fair to compensate them extra for working during the holiday time as well. So that's a good rule of thumb when making decisions like these. 😊

    What if I just want to advertise my dog walking service on nextdoor, and charge like $20 per walk and only take cash payments. Just a side hustle for extra cash. IRS? Need insurance?

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue 11 месяцев назад

      You can absolutely advertise your business on Nextdoor and only take cash payments. From what I understand, if have yearly net earnings from self-employment of less than $400, you might not have to report it to the IRS. But don't quote me on that! Anything above you will 100% have to report, no matter if it's paid in Cash or not. And liability insurance you should get either way because it protects you from potentially huge bills, even if stuff happens to you or the dog through no fault of your own.

    Question for a 15 minutes walk or a 20 minute walk or like you said a 40 or an hour how much would you charge also question with the pet sitting you were saying surcharges for weekends and holidays do you do the same for dog walking? Also another question this might be a little stupid but I’m still gonna ask if you’re walking two dogs for 30 minutes whether you’re walking them together or not how do you organize the time to make sure that You don’t go past your 30 minute limit. Thanks so much

    • @IAmZue
      @IAmZue Год назад

      Hi Tahnee, how much you charge depends on where you live, how much your competitors are charging and what your "Professionalism Quotient" is - meaning, how professional do you come across ... do you have Google Reviews etc. Whenever we provide services on weekends or Holidays we charge a surcharge, no matter what service. We walk two dogs from the same household generally together - this is very doable within 30 min. It just takes them a little longer to leash up, but that's all part of a 30 min visit. If we would need to walk two dogs from the same household separately and they wouldn't get enough attention, we'd recommend a longer visitation time to our clients. Hope that helped! If you want more info you won't find on RUclips, sign up for my free training, which goes live soon ✌️: dogwalktowealth.com/sign-up/

  • @tlhreese
    @tlhreese Год назад

    What about if your client wants you to spend the night what would you do the charging then and with surge charge applied that as well. Could you possibly give an example of the surcharge with the base rate if you’re doing the visits popping in and popping out. Thanks PS when you do the surcharge for the weekend and holiday so if you’re have two visits for example it’s five dollars each visit.
