The start of the end to full elected representation by the people for the people, they didn't die in vain, we should never forget and all should know and learn. Peterloo massacare.
Ouch. That concertmaster vibrato is waaaay too much. Tone it down. Sheesh.
This song is so good
Wow!Really good performance ! Might not the best performance technically, but might be the best one musically! This music is mostly performed in wind orchestra version in my country, Japan, and I watched the performance of this music in orchestra version for the first time. I really liked it! It seems the conductor`s brother has been gone unfortunately. I see, and feel the conductor's energy to try his best to express his passion to this music. I really enjoyed this video, and thanks for your uploading this. I wish I could watch this performance with even better orchestra like Vienna philharmonic under his conducting. Again, thanks for your uploading this video !
Such an inventive composer!
R.I.P. Brendan..Gone before your time..
I was so saddened by the loss of such an amazing Conductor recently but very happy today that his work was recommended to me by complete chance on YT. He will be forever missed but never forgotten.
RIP Maestro!!
I hated this selection because our band director would drill us over and over. I became very nervous and lost my first chair trombone. That's why I hate this. Sorry.
Such a wonderful performance. Why does it have so few views?
♥ time flies
... sehr intensive Darstellung dieses musikalischen Gedenkwerks ...
Is this Laredo, Texas??
Yes it is!
2:41ジョジョのザワールド
これは 序曲・ピータールー 作曲:アーノルド という曲でして練習記号Gに入る前の一小節はだれも音を鳴らさないので確かにザ・ワールドみたいですねw この動画のトランペットもったいない()
A superb piece, exellently performed! My only critisisms are that the dedication should have included those who fell during the massacre of Peterloo, also Sr Malcolm should have ended this piece on the theme instead of the Triumph he portrayed at the end! There was no triumph involved, this was a massacre of innocent civilians!
This Overture was commissioned by the British Trades Union Congress, to commemorate this terrible event, but it strengthened their determination, despite the ''six acts'' , designed to suppress all gatherings. For THE best recording of this wonderful work, I suggest you listen to Sir Malcolm's recording , when conducting the ''City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra's on RUclips..
Honestly, the way the snare drum creeps in and interrupts the peaceful theme amd replaces it with dissonance gives me chills.
I cried and still don't understand why😅
This song always remind me of Bugs Bunny conducting the 🎻🎺🎷orchestra in the cartoon. One of my Favorites😍💕!!! 👑❤💖💘 Classic Cartoon. . 🤗😁😌😚👍✌
Yeah that's what brought me here.
"Baton Bunny". One of my favorites too.
EXACTLY!!! We grew up during a time when our cartoons had culture.
Is it a American trait--to film the conductor, rather than the player's ? At the annual BBC Proms, the camera's are everywhere. I suppose it's down to cost though.
1 camera vs. many.
0:55 one of my favorite parts
same
3:14 is where the march starts.
들어본 Nimrod 중에 최고였습니다. 특히 지휘는 대단히 훌륭합니다.
does anyone know of a good recording of this?

I watched this on yesterdays 'Last Night of the Proms', which is why I have searched on here today Great piece of music with lyrics by Sir Tim Rice.
Last Night of the Proms..BBC TV.13-9-2014.
It's a great piece of music and how much better known it would be if it had been written by either Elgar, Vaughan Williams or Britten. Sadly, I think it's Malcolm Arnold's destiny to be forever undervalued.
probably because he smeared the Art by dabbling in film work too often---snobs eh?
This music is quite popular among the wind music players in Japan. Many high school or junior high school blass bands play this piece, and a lot of members love it.
Although I have been familliar with this piece for many years I am very surprised it is not more popular. It easily ranks as highly as the wasps or the Meistersingers or William Tell. Perhaps now that it was played at the proms it will become more popular.
@@scabbycatcat4202 Perhaps too political? a national disgrace rather better buried ?, This was a commemorative work commissioned by the British Trades Union. There's a film of this historic event, by Mike Leigh on release now.
Listen to the, 'City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra'' conducted by Sir Malcolm Arnold himself, a fantastic and unequaled performance. you are there, believe me.
Absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations.
Beautifully done!
I remember the Schubert Mass in G Major well in Maastricht, my only ever tenor solo in public. I wish we had video of that performance. I also loved the performance of Die Schöpfung by Haydn we performed, I think in Brunnsum.
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO MERCI
audience: fucking uneducated laredians -.- people never appreciate what they have.
Fantastic Dirigent !!!! BRAVO !!!
This is truly excellent. Fantastic work maestro. Really, really just great.
Nice! Great Job Maestro!
Only ever had the pleasure of playing it once!
Great one Brendan a beautiful, stirring performance. You've come a long way since Messiah at Geilenkirchen in 1990, and I think we did some Schubert as well in Maastricht?
Heartbreakingly beautiful. Thank you so much for the post!
I feel so lucky that I get to be in an orchestra conducted by Mr. Townsend.
This is it. This is the one. There are other good versions here in RUclips. But this the one closely matching that which captivated me first.
Beautiful, simply beautiful.
