@@kiwiijuices8897 what do you mean what happens after the informational well here in Chicago we collected the application packet and fill it out and you return it along with all the requested documents and you wait whatever period of time they tell you it's gonna take to go through the applications and their selection of the people they want forthis. Of the houses once you get accepted into the program if you were selected, they will inform you and advise you how to proceed and let you know the requirements from that point forward to the end of the build of your house.

Ok here in North Carolina they took my application months ago and then they emailed me recently with an invite only orientation that I have to attend…. I heard you said informational instead of orientation so I got a little confused. So at this orientation I basically have to do the application again or is this my acceptance?

@@kiwiijuices8897 each one are slightly different in how they do things. But if you've been invited back, definitely go. You could be on your way. You should not have to do another application unless you didn't complete full application & didn't turn in everything requested Good Luck 🍀.. it's totally worth it.

👀 if you won't live long enough to pay off a home you'd bit with habitat you won't live long enough to pay off any home. You're entitled to your feelings, have at them. 0% interest 30yr standard loan term, you'd be better paying it off then one with interest. Anywho if your credit isn't up to par just say that. You've got habitat and worked ur ...off to get it. Rather way,it home isnt ur home until u pay it off. Anytime u get behind, the bank can take it. Nothing in USA is urs

I consider it might home as long as I'm making the payment on it. It's not like i'm "renting" i'm paying a mortgage. (but I understand what you're saying). But, No that home inspection isn't apart of the process here. B/C basically Yea it is mine, I don't have to report anything to them any longer after I close on the house and get the keys. They're not coming here to do inspections to make sure I keep up my house or they can't tell me who I can and can't have in my house, stuff like that. Yes your mortgage will be based off your current income. But you can earn MORE money MUCH more money after you close and your Mortgage remains the same. So If I became a Millinaire on the next Powerball drawing, I do not have to report that. I mean I get what you're saying as far as "it's not yours FR until that final mortgage dollar is paid" but again that's with ANY BANK, OR LOAN MORTGAGE LENDER // PROVIDER I guess though, if that's their process, but also after the person closes on the house, they can't come in to make sure the home Owner is keeping it up. but I digress LOL... but I'm not sure if it took 30 days to be notified that I was qualified. I got my info in QUICK b/c they only take so many per round (I mean potential owners) they have way more applications then they are going to accept potential owners per round. they run your credit just as any mortgage loan provider would. initially with habitat, i paid my mortgage to them. they are / were the loan provider. you cant know if you’re approved or not if they don't pull your credit.

@@juliegedeon8917 see that's different. I didn't need a home inspection (if you're saying they come to where you currently reside to see your place). That wasn't apart of my process. But it's different in different states.

The #Advantage for me is the 0% interest on the life of the loan. You won't get that anywhere else. You might get a low interest home loan but 0% interest for me is what "Got Me". I'll pay for my house ONE time.. The amount that I purchased it for. Nothing more, Nothing less.... Also w/paying extra on my. loan I'll surely pay it off sooner rather than later....

You don't "Receive" a house. You are Literally BUYING a house just as you would with any other Lender. It's Not section 8, it's not rent subsidized, it's not free.. It's yours as if you've purchased through any Bank, or any other Lender. Once you close on the house it's YOURS and Your responsiblity. There is NO landlord... You are the Landlord!. If you close today and get your keys, and tomorrow you win a Cool $Million$ the house is still yours! My kids are grown I bought my house for me. :) Lots of Single women (w/no kids) purchase homes. Hello, thank you, my house is Great. Habitat Assistanted me with all my complaints & it’s great and doing fine. In just a few months now it’ll be 4 years that I’ve been in the home I purchased via Habitat for humanity. I’ve painted, changed out some light fixtures to spruce things up. Etc… I’m loving it. It’s always something I want to do, HGTV gives too many ideas 😂 but I’ll be here a long time so there is plenty of time to add & subtract things to make it exactly how I want it, at any given moment.

It was like 40mins. lol it was an inexpensive experience. Like $14 for 20mins & $17 for 40mins something like that… We just peddled, cause no one timed the start to the end lol😂

How long was the whole process from first meeting to this point?

@dannib5543 the whole process for me has been about 17 months. I live in the northeast so they couldn’t start building in January when I was accepted

maybe just go with the one with the highest score. And I do believe it has to be a lil' higher than 620 (If I remember correctly). if you want to go with both of you. You and your husband would have to wait until you both met the requirements.. (But You can always ask those questions at an orientation just to be 100% sure)

Hello, this will be totally up to you based on when you can put in your hours. Me I work for the public school system so I went through a summer and worked everyday I could (I didn't work that summer) most folk didn't have that luxury. But I did, so I was one of the first to finish my hours... I don't recall exactly how long it took me but again that will vary based on when you can and when you are allowed too. (on the build site) plus at the restore..

Hello on site, meaning the actual houses it was a full work day 7-8hrs but I also got hours at the Habitat restore, which that’s up to you 2-8hrs each time you go, you basically make that schedule. Then I helped write thank you cards at the office, which was maybe 2hrs . I forgot how many hours I needed but out of all my hours I needed I could get help from family and friends up to I believe it was 75 of the hours. I may have gotten two friends to help which amounted to about maybe 20hrs

Ok another question lol so the faster I do my hours is the faster I move in my home? They said it will be 3-5 years but I’m wondering if I really work hard if I could be in my home possibly 2 years?

So basically for me. from informational, when I went in to learn about the process and get the application, submit all my paperwork and went through the process it ended up being 13 months. I did my hours and had my closing and moving into my house... the cohort after me, probably took 2 years (maybe a lil' more) but right after I moved into my house a couple months later the Covid pandemic was a thing and everything came to a screeching Halt...

you should apply, find out when habitat is having an informational where you are and go.. If you can pay $2K a month in rent you should definitely be earning enough to qualify to buy a house with Habitat.

ummm longer than they said it would.. I remember calling them about it, but i was told that they couldn't tell me if i was accepted or not but just said just "look at it this way" No news is good news"... 🤫

i've been in my house 3 years now. Actually 3.5 years I don't remember all the time references but once you're approved they'll let you know when you can get your hours started where and how... Congrats and Good Luck..

Hi, they will definitely all differ and or have differences.. I'm not sure about 2nd and 3rd mortgages.. I have 1. Here in Chicago they used to do 2nd mortgages to help out homebuyers but If I'm not mistaken they don't do that anymore (don't quote me). I think the best way to get all the details that you inquire about is to attend an Informational. Where all these things would be explained in person and questions can be asked of the "professionals" I' shared my knowledge based on my experience only. I have 1 mortgage with 0% interest and I don't believe anyone from my cohort got into 2nd mortgages...
