Autodesk has not updated their GUI, so you may need to change the settings within AutoCAD to match the appearance. Mac’s AutoCAD interface is also completely different.
Just wanted to say thank you, I’m not even in your classes but everything you post has helped me greatly while teaching and expanding on my knowledge for fusion and designing in general.
Thank you for the video, as well as your other ones! I've been using them to double check my final drawings. Just a quick question: shouldn't there be a hidden line on your right side view to indicate the surface of the rectangular notch in the center of the guide? (sorry, I don't know the technical term for a cutout like that 😅)
Jesus I absolutely hate this application. Im taking this for college, and its the 2023 version, using the 2023 book, and every single chapter with the book involves telling me to do something, then the app doing something WILDLY different and unexpected, and then me ending up confused. This isn’t much different tbh, but it is still helpful I guess. All of the offset lines you’re making somehow ended up different for me. Needless to say, I’m still irritated with the class/app 😂
You type a dimension of the polygon into the command box after making the center 0,0 but you don't specify what it is then you measure it and it is right on. What did you type?
Thanks Professor. For some reason, my page setup was set to 1/8th inch. As a result, my Title Block was not centered like yours was. To fix it (hopefully correctly :) I went into File > Page Setup Manager and changed the "Plot offset" X and Y values to 0.25. That seemed to center everything.
3:18 - Thank you professor. Why would we choose Fractional over Architectural? It seems like the only difference is that the inch symbol appears, which seems like a good idea. I know you are busy, so it's okay if you don't have time to reply. Thanks for the video. Hearing all the tips is helpful.
were you able to repost or have re-recorded since? The videos you make on these drawings has been a lifesaver for me this semester. It's tough to learn from the book where a video like yours is much more practical.
Wow! This is very interesting! I take it that you can apply this technique when trying to correct existing designs, such as 3D files that may not be quite accurate? I’ll be checking out your other videos…….I’d like to try this on a file I got the other day, that leaves a bit to be desired in the accuracy department. 😵💫
when using Edit Form if you hold down the ALT key when either translating or scaling an edge it will extrude it. It will remain smooth (curvature continuous). If you hold down ALT + CTRL(or command if you are on a mac), then it will extrude it with a crease. The crease is the selected edge which means instead of being smooth (curvature continuous) it will not just have a contact (G0 continuity) with no additional surface control other than it's position. You can also use the CREASE and UNCREASE tools in the modify tool menu to add or remove them. Creases are generally avoided on a final design unless you need to add a fillet after the tspline body is converted to a BREP, but they are good place holders or work well for things like the lip on a fender.
Fusion 360 is very accessible and much cheaper. Students get it free. Full price to get these tools is very low compared to any other CAD system. Other sub-d modeling software will have greater controls but Fusion is very easy to learn and again price.
@@seanbrittain4542 I am not sure if that is true or not. It used to be that some software was not available for students and there are slightly different versions. Back when I was a student there were a handful of programs that were professional only. Either way it doesn't change the fact that Fusion is very affordable. The forms tools are available in the student, hobby and commercial license without restrictions.
@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Nope, still true. My son is in college and has access to the entire catalog while in school. I had him download and install Alias Studio recently ;) No, not knocking on Fusion, it's a GREAT program just pointing out what's available from AutoDesk.
@@seanbrittain4542 100% agree. If you want to model a car then Alias Auto is the tool for it. I model cars with Fusion, and Blender and have with Inventor, Solidworks etc. There are right tools for every job :)

Quit talking so much and just show me how to do it easy

Can you give please send me the canvas?
I am struggling Dr.Smith! Please any way I can get better at this. My MET professor doesn’t lecture on this so I’m just on my own.

Thank you so much for making this video, helped me tremendously with an assignment I had. 10/10

is the video reposted?
What about the top view
This is a 2D drawing and is easiest to build in 3D with software like Fusion 360. I think I probably skipped this in the video.
@@brighteyesvideos thank you helped me A lot I appreciate you
is it fine to change the units via format -> units?
AutoCAD in a PC requires the user restart the program and then change to metric or imperial.
can you make this inventor please ?
How do you dray the steps?

Its all about tolerances. Machining and Manufacturing work in .00 as their baseline, while architecture deals with feet and inches.
Sorry about the sound, my mic. must have cut off to the Zoom recording.

Thanks professor. Just FYI, for some reason, after about 3 minutes, the sound cuts off. It continutes this way through the end of the video.
Thanks, i will check it out and hopefully repost it
Hey Jeff, thanks for all these videos. They really help me understand this program.
Cool trick, about the Layer States. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you.

Thank you.
More? More? :) Thanks for sharing.. That's pretty cool.
This was really useful thanks!
Nice vid one tip change title .. 'Autocad Basic settings ' for example
I was wondering how you made that bigger?
When you are in the print dialog box, use the “window” feature to select just the CAD drawing part.

What happen with the floor plan B ?
Why used Fusion to make a car and not 3D Max.
