That was ~10 years ago! Matt and Shawn were just developing their rapport. Look what 10 years hath brought. 2 more albums. A ton a Christmas singles. Some more cool videos. Some really cool additional band members in Jon, Jared, and Val. Now Patrick. We are all going to miss Shawn. He was the backbone of the original band. At the same, we are all excited for what Patrick can do to continue the legacy of this incredible group of musicians, for as long as we can all hope Theocracy can play music. Hopefully soon as a full-time band. That ultrec can gain more recognition, and partner with bigger labels, giving their artists the resources they really need to continue their craft in the finest way possible that their talents and technology can provide.

At 11:03 - So THAT'S where the guitar riff in the break during 30 Pieces of Silver (off of ATWB) came from. Thanks for the upload! I love watching these old videos they did. I actually found one of Shawn testing out the studio they mentioned in this video after it was built, and that was sometime in 2004, so I'd say this probably was late 2003, early 2004. Being that Theocracy is my favorite band, it's really fun coming across old stuff like this haha. I even came across a comment Matt made on Tobias Sammet's website back about a year before they announced Mirror of Souls. (Got it through the Web Archives) Matt was asking Tobias for advice on choral layering and similar stuff. I think I may have to post a screenshot of that on Theocracy's forums haha
You do know that Matt has personally been advised by Michael Romeo? He uses the same orchestration software as SX. Innuendo I believe is what he said. I about fell out of my chair when I heard Matt say that in one of his interviews he did with a Detroit radio station. I have to also admit that θκ [θεοκρατια] is my single favorite band of the moment. I hope those moments last for a long time. If I had to be on a desert island, with one set of .mp3 (or CDs) on my solar powered player, it would be Matt Smith & Co. There are many talented musicians and bands out there. However, edifying lyrical content is paramount for me. Especially, that I would be isolated and alone of other humans. If I had a second choice, then it would be the works of J.S. Bach to supplement my head-banging. Yes, I would choose the boys from Athens (GA) over Bach. I said it.
