Faux Leather Shoes: MAKEOVER
Просмотров 18 тыс.5 лет назад
An abundance of faux leather shoes can be found in stores and online. However, many of those shoes can use boost in the quality of their appearance. This simple and inexpensive technique is one you can do yourself.
I like I will do thank so much 🤗❤️👏👏👏
What are the names of fabrics we can use for the covering of sandals and shoes?
@@deepanisiriwardena8517 I use cotton, usually. No particular brand or name. That fabric is from the "Pioneer Woman" brand. So grab any usable fabric that suits your taste! 🙂
I love it.. amazing idea
Thank u i want to try it on a bag
@@mialynnortiz3142 Hope it turns out well! I have never done that before.
How long does it take to dry and do you do more than one coat? Thanks for sharing. One idea, go thifting for shoes and practice with them unless you find a pair that you like.😊
@@kingdomarts2974 It takes a few hours to dry, and that will depend on how heavy handed one is with the glue. Usually about six hours. I only use one coat. Using thrifted she's is an awesome way to practice!
would this work on cowboy boots that have embroidery in them?
@@SimplySami13 I think you may have to work around the embroidery. I've never done this on shoes with decor or flair.
thank god for you!! doing this tomorrow
This is exactly what I was looking for -- thank you so much for your video tutorial -- so very helpful!
@@bcre8tiveterese So glad to be of assistance! 🙂
So nice and looks easy to follow you…😂gonna try… got a fall festival to get ready for 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks for the video.
Where is the sound?
thank you sooooo much ...gonna try it asap....love the video
you shoes covering is so perfect , it looks like those shoes have just came out from a store shelves . I'm a man , and I bought deck shoes and derby shoes , unfortunately I soon found out the upper of each shoes were fake leather , it started to crackle and peel off . our locals shoes repairmen are only gifted at repairing soles , the upper part of the shoes they just apply polish , they can't replace nor cover it . I live in Africa , we import glues from Europe , we don't have the brand of glue you show us in the video
So sorry to hear that! I've learned much if what I know from talented African women. They sometimes refer to whatever adhesive they are using as "gum." I do not know what that is, but maybe you can find that.
Hi.., whats the base material you are using? Thank you.
The earrings are wooden and the fabric is cotton. The glue being used is Mod Podge.
Ladies, unfortunately the footage of the shoes on my feet did not capture how bold and intense the shoes actually look in person. But if you follow these tips, your shoes will appear on your feet as mine do in the rest of the video.

Would this work with any type fabric? How pretty!
These are cotton fabrics, but I think some nylon blends will work. I've covered shoes with nylon. Thank you!
Please which gum did you use?
Mod Podge
Thank you. Fantvideo.
You are most welcome.
Do you have to use two place mats or can you use one?
It will still work if you use one. Hope it turns out beautifully for you, Sister! (I use two because I prefer the body of the clutch to be thicker.)
Okay but... *How* do you do it?
Hi! There are two videos on my channel that show the process. I hope they are helpful. 🙂 ruclips.net/video/2vgY_qa0yQc/видео.htmlsi=fz5oqnEAqBMkWUsz ruclips.net/video/5ATog8SrMtU/видео.htmlsi=y8ADs6EwrYrByKT2
Thank you! I Liked your video (great production quality)! I'm a daddy of daughters in my own little corner of the world trying to learn this. I got my razor today that looks just like yours - Question: when you cover the shoe with the fabric and cut it out with the razor, how do you see / know where to cut? I'm putting fabric on a panel of the shoes so it's a particular shape. I need my fabric to match the shape exactly. Say it's a triangle for example, how do I know where the lines of the triangle are under my fabric so I get the exact shape, and hot have it off by an eighth of an inch or something?
Thank you! Awww, my father had all girls. 😊 How sweet of you do this! Well, after applying the fabric, when the Mod Podge is still damp/wet, I use a butter knife, spoon handle, or even my nail to feel where the "line" forms where the shoe meets the sole. I press into that line. If the Mod Podge is already dry, it might be a little harder to feel the line, but give it a try. On the video with the polka dot shoes you can see me using a utensil to do this. I hope I understood your question and prayerfully this answers it. Let me know how they turn out! 😁 ruclips.net/video/5ATog8SrMtU/видео.htmlsi=vnywk1osQGH6H0J_ ruclips.net/video/2vgY_qa0yQc/видео.htmlsi=h5pJ5iXtcwyr9k5z
oh wow I think I get it now thanks so much for being so nice to teach me. Light bulb went on, I couldn't see how to get there before but now I do. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow, I need some throw-away test shoes like you say toward the end of one of your videos. See these other vids helped a ton so thx for linking them! I'll report back :)@@LadiesBlvd
@@michaelatkinson7917 Yes, get some cheap thrifted tester pairs. I can't wait to hear how it went!

CANT. YOU SAND DOWN THE WEAR AND TEAR WITH SAND PAPER.
Hmmmmm....I am not sure about that. I've never done it and I'm not sure how sanding would fix wrinkles. But maybe it is helpful for another type of wear/tear. If you do so, I'd love to know how it turns out!
What is the whit sheet u used
Hi Sarah 👋🏾 Hmmmmm. I'm not sure what white sheet you're referring to. The back of the blue placemat is white. Maybe that's possibly what you saw and it looked like paper...
Love the kitty mine does the same 😊

Could you do a diy on strapy shoes .
Hey there. I've never done shoes with a strap. There might be a tutorial somewhere online. Maybe you can give it a shot in a older pair if shoes if you're looking to do a pair. Hoping they turn out beautifully if you do. ❤️
Good evening madam,, I'm interested pls i want to lean more, hw much
The tutorials here are free!
Hi! What glue did you use? Thanks ! And how long does it need to set up or dry? I’m asking because I ALWAYS seem to mess that up and things don’t stick properly, so please let me know if you have any tips for the actual gluing process.
I swear these are some of the best ideas I’ve seen and actually doable. Make more videos please!!! What else you got up your sleeve? I mean, men’s shirts! … that was life changing information and I’m not joking. I can’t wait to embellish a collar with the vintage costume jewelry I have collected and LOVE but don’t wear. Have you tried to do any simple embroidery to flare your collar? As you said 🎉
Hey I hope you see this, awesome video, 2 questions … about how long did you let each wax coats dry before applying the next. Does it wash off in the rain (sorry kinda dumb question) Thanks :)
I let it dry for about 15/20 minutes. If repeatedly walking in water, the wax will wear off eventually. However, on shoes worn rarely, it should last a long time.
Omg ok you can ignore my other comment, lol! But how long did you let the modge podge dry before you started to cut out the shape on the shoe? Was it a day? You should really have more views. Thank you!
I saw the comment. I've cut the fabric as quickly as two hours later. Just make sure it is mostly dry. It will be within a few hours. Thanks. I just make content when I have time. Whoever it helps, whatever the number, I'm glad. 👍🏾
I would like to do this project with velvet. Did you try this fabric before? If so, any difficulties I should know about?
Excuse me ma’am, what wizardry is this? Would you please please make a tutorial breaking down your technique here for someone who is scared of midge lodge but otherwise is pretty decently crafty. :) I saw your supplies video and I’m ready to rock, or try!
How long did you let the midge lodge sit before you applied the fabric. It looked instant but I know some glue has to set before you stick something to it. I think this was my previous prob with it. Lmao… and then how long do you let the layers of glue sit and how Many layers. If you could let me know those details I would be so grateful! Thanks :)
Glad you're ready! There is another video where I break down how I apply the fabric to a shoe step by step.
about to make my weddings shoes now wish me luck
😍 I'm sure they'll be beautiful! ❤️
Good job. I used to do this. I used Aleen's tacky glue. I would cover the heel too . I would sew a top to match.
I'm working up to that! I want some tee's to match my canvas shoes.
I suggest you to put the bigger fabric first to cover the edge then 2nd fabric for back side to cover the fold fabric to make it look so neat
Hi! I'm trying to follow your comment. I apply the smaller, backing first. Then the larger, front piece next.
Thank you for the tips. How long doe fabric covered shoes last?
Hi! It should be permanent if the shoe doesn't get wet! The fabric will start to detach if the shoe gets significantly wet.
If you walk on pavement, outside they will last longer than on gravel, grass, sand, or mulched surfaces. If you mostly wear them inside, they could last years, so long as you keep them dry. You can add a top coat of matte, satin, or gloss modge podge if you need stain resistance, and if you do get them wet ( and the fabric lifts off) you can apply some more modge podge and reglue them.
Nice!
Omgosh i love shoes but i especially love to upcycle or put my own spin on them. #newsubie ☺️
Yes, make them a unique and original pair that only you have!
Just finished mine and I love it. My only issue is with the velcro. Ir is pulling off one side or the other when I open and close and pulls at the felt I used as my lining.
I’m so glad you love your clutch! ❤️ When it comes to the velcro, a little bit of super glue can be used. Also, the fancy felt lining was something I tried for the video. I actually have only used regular felt as padding with my plain fabric on top. A drop of superglue may secure both sides to stop the tugging. I’m actually thinking about doing an updated version of this DIY with some better tips. Glad you love yours!
Great job! Great video! 🦋 "I have made the mistakes for you, so you don't have to make the same ones." I used that conversation when I was raising my children.
Thank you! #Motherhood ❤️
