Rough Country 2/1 4Runner lift install
Don't understand why people do this to their new trucks. You spend so much money on this truck but could add another 500-600 for doing a proper suspension lift with Bilstein 5100 that are proved. Spacers add extra stress in the entire stock suspension system. Don't you think there is a reason it doesn't come out of factory with spacers?
just got my transfer case for my 5spd taco and I am getting it ready for install. is there any adjustment on the driveshaft length I should be worried about?
@@dantejubert8692 Nope, stock driveshafts work front and rear.
@@turbostoybox2182 sweet! Thanks for getting back with me so quickly. This swap has hopefully saved me the headache on diagnosing all the electrical bs, being that my 4wd is not reliable anymore. ADD solution after swapping?
@dantejubert8692 Can’t help you there. I was doing this with the SAS.
I like it. Put a blazer lower Airdam on it (Gotta do the lights. The factory lights WITH brackets, are so cheap, how can you possibly pass them up?). My 19 Yo son just got a ‘87 S-10 “strippy/Yippie” (What we used to call the “No-power-anything”, no A/C, no radio, etc, trucks that the dealer would buy, then add all that stuff back in, plus some from the aftermarket! They’d sell these trucks for huge profits.) It hasn’t run in 22 years, or so, and man what a time capsule! I wonder if the ol’ Iron Duke 2.5 can be coaxed into making some power…. I know the usual thing to do with this generation of S-10 is to V-8 swap it (And I am no stranger to that sort of thing) it…. But isn’t that pretty much what everyone else is doing? I’m a “Handling” guy. I like road courses…. Maybe a Buick 3.8 SC?
You got a new subscriber out of me.🎉
Stance it looking darn good!
What size tires do you have on?

Looking way more better with its hot roddie stance 😂👍 ❤ u man glad its in your hands & love seeing the updates
I’m in Michigan and would like to throw this exact kit on my Fit for the winters, but I don’t want to mess it up myself. How long did it take you to put everything together?
@@johnbogardus970 With all the parts in hand I put the car together in a night after work. But I also do this stuff all the time. I can’t imagine I would take someone a whole day. But that depends on how rusty yours is.

What year insight did you get the parts from?
@@masonclontz2589 2010 Insight loaded struts in front, rear shocks and rear coil springs. Then the 30mm eBay spacer lift on top of that. Also a pair of Fit swaybar links.

Amazing build just got a 2015 2.7 manual taco love the inspiration. Glad to see someone else doesn’t really like the new 4x4 switch knob thing. Not nearly as satisfying to put it in 4x4
"Does this modification you made make the ride of the truck smooth or hard?"
@@ricardoherrera5226 It didn’t seem to change the ride quality at all. Just the height.
I use the same disassembly procedure as you, except I take the top center bolt loose on the strut and drop the shock out and then the spring, don't need a spring compressor that way.
Florida in the summer…..you’re stronger than me Gunga Din
He goes low. You go high.
That's exactly the sound I have coming from mine.
Is it a low rider shop truck??
Kind of yes. Nice and low so it’s easy to get stuff in and out of. 😂
Which year insight suspension did you go for? The entire set from the insight bolts right in? I wanna do this so bad!!
2010 Insight loaded struts, and rear shocks from Rockauto, new oem honda rear springs for the same car, plus the 30mm lift kit off eBay.
😮😊
👍
Can’t wait to see the shop build….
There is no LEAN. People engage the parking brake and exit vehicle. Try exiting WITHOUT parking brake engaged and be amazed the t lean is gone. If you already have spacers you will have lean again after disengaging parking brake. I have an sr5 and a trd off road. Neither have lean.
UCA not needed under 3inches. You can go .85 to 2.5 in the front ZERO difference in stiffness between settings. I recommend replacing all 4 shocks. I’ve done 2.5/1.5 on an sr5 you will need 1.5 spacer in the rear)with 265s. Also on a trd off road 3/2 you will need to add 1/4 inch spacer in front on top of fronts and a 2inch in the rear.
Common issue, WHEN YOU NEGLECT KEEPING YOUR WHEELS TIGHT!!!!!! These trucks NEED to b Checked on after EVERY BATTERY PACK!!!!!! ITS CALLED MAINTINENCE!!!!!
so what youre saying is I dont have to jack my 2017 tucson up to install the same hitch?
I didn’t have to.
@@turbostoybox2182 I hope so haha, installing a harbor freight trailer on my tucson this week. Do you know what rise or drop you got for the ball?
@@RGar05 We have only used for a bike rack sorry.
If the X-reas system is removed what kind of shocks can replace it. Will the ride feel the same? I really enjoy how smooth my limited rides.
You can install a complete new suspension package from someplace like Dobinsons, icon, old man emu, etc… you would need all new coil springs and struts/shocks. I personally like a slightly firmer ride which the Dobinsons gave us on a previous 4Runner. It helped eliminate the nose dive when braking and felt more stable overall.
Thanks for the important tips about keeping things loose until on its own Weight!!! 🦶🏾
😎
Traverse City needs a road course.
You got to see a 959 in motion!!! Both the 959 and Ferrari had Montana plates. A lot of nice rides there! Might have to scoot up there some Friday for one.

Expensive wheels using cheap bolts unbelievable
I am the owner on this Taco and I can testify that the shake is completely gone at all speeds after the needle bearing delete. Prior there was an intermittent shake starting at 45mph all the way up to 85 mph. Was getting so bad the entire steering wheel would shake my arm. I have had several shops tell me the problem cannot be replicated. I am so glad Turbo was able to get this swapped and in turn fixing all shake! Very nice video and explanation!
Nice vid. That guy must work in a salt mine.
Northwest lower Michigan… pretty much the same thing. 😔🤦🏻♂️
did you have to do anything with the kdss system? i’m not familiar with 4 runners at all, im doing this installation for side work.
It did not seem to have any impact on that system working from my experience.
Good info Andy. Thanks for sharing your work.
dude, I've been wanting to do the same to my first gen fit for a while. but haven't found any videos on anybody doing it. My thing feels like it's been lowered. I know it hasn't been but the ride height is terrible. what year of insight shocks did you use?
2010 Insight loaded struts in front, rear shocks and rear coil springs. Then the 30mm eBay spacer lift on top of that. Also a pair of Fit swaybar links.
I have heard of using washer fluid.
Thought about that, was afraid of the freeze point as it stays in a shed that’s not insulated.
Got that exact lift, rides like factory, I believe the tires I have on equal out to a 34x11.5 tire on 22’s
I don't go off-roading, but I live in Colorado. So it'd be nice to have that extra clearance when we get a snow storm. Plus I could take advantage of those spots at work that they sacrifice to pile snow onto, that would otherwise be unavailable to me for a week or two.
I believe it's the 2nd gen Insight, that you get the parts from, right? I've literally just starting looking into lifting my 1st gen Fit earlier today xD
@@Hachiro Yes, parts were ordered for a 2010 Insight. Good luck with your build!
@@turbostoybox2182 Awesome. Thanks! Don't plan on doing it till I'm sure of what I need to order. Aaand I might get my windshield ceramic tinted first.. It's getting hot already, and we're barely out of spring xD
