Hmm, I honestly don't know. But likeley between 250 to 300? Nonetheless, the boss will still hit. Def is similar to evasion and I don't think any of us evaded the boss' hits. What matters here I think is damage reduction. 🙂

Well it's great for farming spots and leveling! Looks like it adds around 10% range. It's nice to have a choice to extend your attacks further. I'd say based on observation the maximum we can get is at around 75% to 80% of archer's range I mean if you choose the 10% range weapon proficiency + level 2 Soaring Spear. In some cases it helps with PVP when they start running you can still reach them to attempt a Bind. :) For me, best pick to level first would be to go for Battle Cry, then after that, it's your choice! Completely depends on your play style. Hope this helps!
