It did appear in the Gambit theme too, but a ton of motifs appeared in the Gambit theme.

Something that makes me think.... The way that The Traveler and The Witness go about their rivalry genuinely feels like one brother trying to hide from the other so he can play with his toys in peace. Or one brother jealous of the toys, so he chases him all over the yard and tries to break them. I don't know if that's the intention, or if I'm just reading too into it.

BEYOND LIGHT JUMPSCARE!!!1!1!!1

You know, whenever this whole Light and Dark saga comes to an end, I am going to miss this motif, assuming we don't hear it after this saga. This motif has so much power with it that any Destiny player, at least those who pay attention to the music, knows exactly who they are dealing with. It is so incredibly foreboding and ominous and it is probably one of my favorite villain motifs out of any media out there.

The progession makes sense From Red war through Shadowkeep the pyramid's theme is all about 'ominous'. They're this new force of the darkness we don't understand yet. Beyond light gives us the same but after the identical ominous section there's a section where I think it's in major and it's conjoined with this pulsing noise. It's to say we still see the darkness as powerful but not nessecarily 'bad' as we use it for the first time. The pulsing mimicing the resonance of the pyramids. Then comes Witch Queen which adds a sense of grandeur to all the darkness themes. We start to see what the darkness is as a larger paracausal concept, as opposed to something we can source power like our subclasses from. The witness theme is interesting because it differs from that of the pyramids. That motif that's in all darkness cutscenes is almost not there. The pyramids are ominous and mysterious but not inherently evel. The inherent evil is the witness and you see this wirth how low the notes played are. Finally you have Rhulk. I absolutely love the music. Yes it's a raid boss. Yes it inspires adrenaline. But there's a heavy focus on deep brass sounds especially at the very beginning. You're not facing the darkness object ie. the pyramid. You're facing unrestricted power of darkness as wielded by the top disciple. If you listen to 5:50 onwards, that brass is arguably the antithesis to the grandeur that embelishes the darkness theme in WQ. Almost as if to say the deep brass is the opposite to the high orchestral brass of the WQ theme. Tying back to Savathun's connection to Rhulk.

That part in deep stone where it syncs to Taniks’ theme gets me every time my god

I think the shadowkeep/season of arrivals version is the best. It’s more electronic and alien sounding compared to the more orchestral versions in beyond light and after.

The darkness themes are absolutely masterful, it may not be Marty odonal but they all still give me chills no matter how many times I hear them.

The pure dread and mystery thats in the theme of the darkness is such a nice touch to add to the whole feel of the game

Beyond Light hold special place for me

The darkness theme when it’s by itself feels like a herald’s horn. A blaring to announce the coming of the end. It’s otherworldly and foreboding

The initial theme, stands out, eerie yet subtle. As the Witness and his fleet move closer, the sound becomes more distinct, more intense.

I love the way they get the emotion in the theme of the darkness, especially the beyond light title imo, where it just sounds so alien and this feeling to your gut of it being just evil and foreboding, honestly it’s genius

It’s crazy to think we’re 2 expansions away from finishing this 9-10 year journey. Man i don’t know how Bungie is gonna top this. Since we keep seeing more vex shit, i imagine the next arc will be about about the vex.
